IVERYONE LOVES HEROES ON SOME LEVEL, whether it's out of amazement at their super powers or appreciation for their selfless efforts to make the world a better place. We wish we could be like them, but unfortunately, we can't - no one can. I think my Action Figure Portraits are a dream come true for anyone who ever wondered what it would be like to be a hero; not the part where you have super powers or save the world from certain destruction, but the part where you get a your own action fig ures and sugary breakfast cereals with your face on the box. I've also recently been working on a series of female action heroines from various fantasy genres. These aren't the kind of 'heroines' that you see in Indiana Jones movies who get grossed out by exotic foreign delica cies and scream a lot. These are all tough, independent, a**-kicking women. There's just something about a woman who can kick a**. I whole-heartedly believe that women are just as capable as men at kicking a**, but unfortunately, you don't see it happen very often. Society's standards for a**-kicking and sex seem to be much the same: men are encouraged to do it often and to as many people as possible, but women don't do that sort of thing - it's just not ladylike. I'm not sure right now if this series is about girl- power or just because I'm turned on by a**-kicking women, but I think it's probably a little of both. If you've got any questions or com ments about my artwork, or if you're interested in having your own per sonal Action Figure Portrait made, drop me a line at [email protected] .
