Partners' Newsletter Spring 2019 Partners’ Newsletter Spring 2019 Director writes As you have read or watched elsewhere, I will Networks, meaning the Christian voice is be moving on from the role of Director at being heard in places it was not. In the last Bath and Wiltshire Youth for Christ in the four years a lot has happened, and we are Spring. Inevitably, such a moment has thankful to God for all he has done. Thank you provoked me to reflect on the journey for the part you have played in that journey. Wiltshire Youth for Christ has been on since its launch in late 2014. Please can I take this opportunity to encourage you to continue to pray for, give Schools in which there was little or no to and volunteer in the work of Wiltshire Christian input now have weekly engagement Youth for Christ, so the growing momentum through mentoring, faith-discussion groups, continues, and lives will be transformed for assemblies, Christian Unions and more. Young years to come. Please can I specifically ask people can enjoy drop-in youth projects and that you pray for Steve and Dan during this the opportunity to explore life and faith. In time of change and that God will reveal his the last four years we have trained over 100 plans for Wiltshire Youth for Christ in the people as volunteer youth workers and / or coming months. mentors. That is 100 local volunteers better equipped to serve young people in their God’s peace and strength church and community. That is amazing! to you. Wiltshire Youth for Christ has a very positive James Vaughton relationship with local Area Boards and Youth Wise guides for Wiltshire Youth for Christ Wiltshire Youth for Christ works because of lots of people. You hear about Dan, Steve and James, but the reality is there is a host of volunteers and supporters who make this work happen. One such group is our Advisory Group. Catherine Haddow, Rev. Barry Blackford, Alison Bennett and Rev. Keith Brindle are our wise guides. Three times per year the team meets with this group to review the work and look ahead. It is a really significant role and means that local people help shape the work of Wiltshire Youth for Christ. We are on the lookout for one or two new members so if listening and asking good questions, with a heart for the mission of Jesus is something you are interested in, then please email [email protected] to get the ball rolling. We don’t have a picture of the group, they are too ‘secret service!’ 2 Loving our neighbour “For the entire law is fulfilled in keeping this one command: Love your neighbour as yourself.” This profound truth told by Jesus and repeated by Paul in Galatians 5 reminds us of the importance of loving those people who are close to us – not simply our next-door neighbours, but also the people with whom we work, who live out their daily joys and struggles separately, but alongside us in ours. Of course, this can be difficult as I’m sure we already know! In a school context, this act of loving your neighbour can be just as difficult to young Christians. “How do I demonstrate love to those who bully my friend? Who are nothing like me? Who don’t seem worthy of my time? Who are younger than me?” At St Laurence School Christian Union, we are exploring some key themes this term such as fear, forgiveness and rejection, considering how we respond to these challenges in our own lives and in turn, how we can love others who face these issues too. Equipping Volunteers to help young people Our secondary school mentoring project youth worker at Christchurch in Warminster continues to gather momentum with new has been developing mentoring work at mentors joining the team in the last few Kingdown School with the support of months. In January we ran another training Wiltshire Youth for Christ and has about 10 day, with a full-house of 15 people, many volunteers regularly meeting with young from the Warminster area. Chris Scorah, the people in that school. Here are a couple of quotes from trainee mentors who attended the training: “I’ve been in education a long time and I was just so surprised how much I learned, and it has excited and enabled me to work with the young people. Prior to the training, I was quite nervous, but now feel well equipped.” Janet “I thoroughly enjoyed the day and had a lot of fun. I learned a lot about technique and was particular interested in the colour energy test.” Margaret 3 Building community in the Wellsprings Benefice The Wellsprings benefice includes Potterne, welcome guests and serve at tables. • Addendum to School Places Strategy 2017-2022 – Explanation of the Differences Between Wiltshire Community Areas and Wiltshire School Planning Areas
Addendum to School Places Strategy 2017-2022 – Explanation of the differences between Wiltshire Community Areas and Wiltshire School Planning Areas This document should be read in conjunction with the School Places Strategy 2017 – 2022 and provides an explanation of the differences between the Wiltshire Community Areas served by the Area Boards and the School Planning Areas. The Strategy is primarily a school place planning tool which, by necessity, is written from the perspective of the School Planning Areas. A School Planning Area (SPA) is defined as the area(s) served by a Secondary School and therefore includes all primary schools in the towns and surrounding villages which feed into that secondary school. As these areas can differ from the community areas, this addendum is a reference tool to aid interested parties from the Community Area/Area Board to define which SPA includes the schools covered by their Community Area. It is therefore written from the Community Area standpoint. Amesbury The Amesbury Community Area and Area Board covers Amesbury town and surrounding parishes of Tilshead, Orcheston, Shrewton, Figheldean, Netheravon, Enford, Durrington (including Larkhill), Milston, Bulford, Cholderton, Wilsford & Lake, The Woodfords and Great Durnford. It encompasses the secondary schools The Stonehenge School in Amesbury and Avon Valley College in Durrington and includes primary schools which feed into secondary provision in the Community Areas of Durrington, Lavington and Salisbury. However, the School Planning Area (SPA) is based on the area(s) served by the Secondary Schools and covers schools in the towns and surrounding villages which feed into either The Stonehenge School in Amesbury or Avon Valley College in Durrington.

  • Congratulations Corsham Primary!
www.corshamprimary.co.uk July 2013 2nd Edition Despite an initially chilly and grey term, the sun has been shining at Corsham Primary throughout this busy summer term; the children and staff have had a great time! We will shortly be saying goodbye to our wonderful year six children who have given us so much joy over the years. We wish them all well as they move on to their new secondary schools. At this time of year we will also be saying goodbye and hello to old and new staff members and are looking forward to welcoming our new Foundation Stage pupils in September. We hope to hear the “patter of tiny feet” in the Ryan household very shortly and wish Miss Townsend, Miss Book and Miss Pankhurst much happiness for their forthcoming marriages. We are also saying good-bye and good luck to Mrs Baines who secured a position as a radiographer at RUH in Bath. I would like to thank Andrea for all the special things she has done for the pupils who attend the Sunshine Room and Learning Den. We are all going to miss her especially Olive and Timmy the greyhounds who regularly read with the children. Congratulations Corsham Primary! We are proud and delighted to inform parents and carers that Corsham Primary has achieved an Outstanding judgement following our recent inspection. The report was published on the Ofsted website on 19 July. We are particularly pleased to have received this very special news as the new Ofsted framework, which came into force in September 2012, has deliberately set the bar for an outstanding judgement even higher than before.

  • Teacher of French Dear Applicant Welcome to Kingdown School, And
Teacher of French Dear Applicant Welcome to Kingdown School, and thank you for your interest in this post. Kingdown School Kingdown School is an exceptional place to work. It is a co-educational, non-denominational academy for students aged 11-18 years, situated in Warminster in Wiltshire. There are currently approximately 1550 students on roll, including 250 in the Sixth Form. The school employs over 120 teaching staff, ably supported by almost 90 business staff. We are a true comprehensive school; as the only state school in the town we serve students of all abilities, aptitudes and backgrounds. The school has a very strong reputation within the community, which has been built on an unswerving focus on the quality of teaching and learning and great pastoral care. These have led, over time, to very positive student outcomes. The school has an incredibly positive ethos, built through the dedication and hard work of the staff. We truly are a ‘child-centred’ organisation; staff regularly go the extra mile to support students’ learning, both inside and outside the classroom. Kingdown is full of exceptional staff and wonderful students. “Believe, Aspire and Achieve” is the school motto and, alongside the Kingdown crown, creates a great sense of belonging for our students and the community. This is further enhanced through the pastoral system; the school has six houses (named from our time as a specialist Sports College: Lords, Millennium, Silverstone, Twickenham, Wembley and Wimbledon). Each house is split into 12 tutor groups which each contain students from Years 7 to 13. The vertical tutoring system within the school has helped secure that sense of family and belonging for our students.
