  • Addendum to School Places Strategy 2017-2022 – Explanation of the Differences Between Wiltshire Community Areas and Wiltshire School Planning Areas
Addendum to School Places Strategy 2017-2022 – Explanation of the differences between Wiltshire Community Areas and Wiltshire School Planning Areas This document should be read in conjunction with the School Places Strategy 2017 – 2022 and provides an explanation of the differences between the Wiltshire Community Areas served by the Area Boards and the School Planning Areas. The Strategy is primarily a school place planning tool which, by necessity, is written from the perspective of the School Planning Areas. A School Planning Area (SPA) is defined as the area(s) served by a Secondary School and therefore includes all primary schools in the towns and surrounding villages which feed into that secondary school. As these areas can differ from the community areas, this addendum is a reference tool to aid interested parties from the Community Area/Area Board to define which SPA includes the schools covered by their Community Area. It is therefore written from the Community Area standpoint. Amesbury The Amesbury Community Area and Area Board covers Amesbury town and surrounding parishes of Tilshead, Orcheston, Shrewton, Figheldean, Netheravon, Enford, Durrington (including Larkhill), Milston, Bulford, Cholderton, Wilsford & Lake, The Woodfords and Great Durnford. It encompasses the secondary schools The Stonehenge School in Amesbury and Avon Valley College in Durrington and includes primary schools which feed into secondary provision in the Community Areas of Durrington, Lavington and Salisbury. However, the School Planning Area (SPA) is based on the area(s) served by the Secondary Schools and covers schools in the towns and surrounding villages which feed into either The Stonehenge School in Amesbury or Avon Valley College in Durrington.

  • School Prospectus
ST JUDE’S CATHOLIC PRIMARY SCHOOL We live, love and learn together joyfully, in Jesus' name. SCHOOL PROSPECTUS Headteacher: Malcolm Tipping BA (QTS) Hons. ST JUDE’S CLOSE MAYPOLE BIRMINGHAM B14 5PD TEL: 0121 464 5069 WEBSITE: www.stjuderc.bham.sch.uk WELCOME On behalf of the staff, governors and children of St Jude's Catholic Primary School I welcome you to St Jude’s. I am immensely proud to have been appointed as the new Headteacher of St Jude's. The staff, children, governors and parents have been very welcoming and have shown what a wonderful community our school is rooted in. I strongly believe in the partnership between home, school and parish and that, together, we can work successfully for the ongoing development of your child. Our School Mission is centred in our Catholic foundation, which can be seen in every aspect of the life of our school, relationships within it, and the curriculum it provides. We warmly welcome children of other faiths and believe that we can learn a great deal from each other about justice, tolerance and respect. Our RE Inspection Report (September 2011) states that, “The catholic life of St Jude’s is outstanding. Provision for the spiritual and moral development of the children and the extent to which the curriculum for RE meets the children’s needs are excellent.” and, “Teaching is highly effective in enthusing pupils and ensuring they make the best possible progress.” As a school, we want to do the very best that we can for your child, academically, spiritually and socially, and therefore ask you to support us in our work and the decisions we make for the benefit of our school community.

  • Congratulations Corsham Primary!
www.corshamprimary.co.uk July 2013 2nd Edition Despite an initially chilly and grey term, the sun has been shining at Corsham Primary throughout this busy summer term; the children and staff have had a great time! We will shortly be saying goodbye to our wonderful year six children who have given us so much joy over the years. We wish them all well as they move on to their new secondary schools. At this time of year we will also be saying goodbye and hello to old and new staff members and are looking forward to welcoming our new Foundation Stage pupils in September. We hope to hear the “patter of tiny feet” in the Ryan household very shortly and wish Miss Townsend, Miss Book and Miss Pankhurst much happiness for their forthcoming marriages. We are also saying good-bye and good luck to Mrs Baines who secured a position as a radiographer at RUH in Bath. I would like to thank Andrea for all the special things she has done for the pupils who attend the Sunshine Room and Learning Den. We are all going to miss her especially Olive and Timmy the greyhounds who regularly read with the children. Congratulations Corsham Primary! We are proud and delighted to inform parents and carers that Corsham Primary has achieved an Outstanding judgement following our recent inspection. The report was published on the Ofsted website on 19 July. We are particularly pleased to have received this very special news as the new Ofsted framework, which came into force in September 2012, has deliberately set the bar for an outstanding judgement even higher than before.

  • Proposal to Join the Athelstan Trust As Part of a Multi Academy Trust
Proposal to join the Athelstan Trust as part of a Multi Academy Trust Consultation Consultation for all stakeholders learners, staff, parents/carers, community Sir William Romney’s School Key Dates: Consultation starts: 30th September 2019 Consultation ends: 4th November 2019 Deadline for support, views, questions and concerns: Stakeholder/Parent Information Evenings: 1. Engagement Forum: Wednesday 9th October (during Year 8 and 9 Information Evening) 2. Engagement Event: Wednesday 21st October at 6pm in the Main Hall 1 Frequently Asked Questions What is an Academy? An academy is an independent state school that is run by an Academy Trust, a legal body operating similarly to a charity. Whilst the academy is funded directly by the Government, it is no longer run by the Local Authority. This means that academies have more freedom and control over the school curriculum, hours, and term dates. The Academy Trust enters into an agreement with the Secretary of State for Education that sets out its responsibilities and accountabilities for the effective running of the academy. What is a Multi-Academy Trust? (MAT) A Multi-Academy Trust is a legal entity that governs a group of schools through a single set of trustees. It is set up by a group of schools, usually a local collaboration, that share a common ethos and vision. A MAT is accountable for all academies within the group. Academies are answerable to the Trustees and to the Department for Education (DfE) rather than to the Local Authority. A MAT is a charitable company, limited by guarantee. This means that it is registered at Companies House.
