Weather - On average, Utah weather is quite temperate. Utah is a semiarid state with dry, high country air and plenty of sunshine. Generally speaking, Utah is best experienced with an extra bottle of water and some sunscreen. Stay hydrated and avoid altitude sickness, especially if you venture up into the mountain areas and ski resorts.

The July high is around 91 degrees. The July average low is 63 degrees. Davis County, Utah, gets 22 inches of rain per year. The US average is 39. The number of days with any measurable precipitation is 55. On average, there are 226 sunny days per year in Davis County, Utah. Sperling's comfort index for Davis County is 73 out of 100, where a higher score indicates a more comfortable year-around climate. The US average for the comfort index is 54. Our index is based on the total number of days annually within the comfort range of 70-80 degrees.

Wear a high SPF sunscreen and re-apply frequently. High altitude sunburns are dreadfully painful and can be dangerous. The air at altitude has less water vapor, which means there is less protection from the sun.

Hydrate, hydrate, and hydrate! The City of Layton is 4,530 feet above sea level. The air is very dry at higher altitudes and your body will feel it. Drink twice as much water as you do at home and you’ll improve your chances of combating the altitude. Drinking more water a few days before travelling to higher altitudes helps you acclimate.

Tipping for Services at area eateries, coffee vendors, etc. While tipping is NOT mandatory in most of the United States, it is expected in many circumstances for service, especially at almost all sit-down restaurants which offer table service. Customers should understand that tips are often a major source of compensation for the wait staff and other service providers. Employers often pay these employees lower wages in anticipation that the service employees will receive tip income to raise their compensation to market levels -- however, U.S. employers are legally supposed to pay all workers the higher of either the Federal Minimum Wage or their state's minimum wage. Many of these employees also may be part-time employees and not receive any employer-paid benefits such as health insurance, which they consequently must pay for personally.

pg. 28 Floral orders may be pre-ordered and floral items may be ordered during the Session.
