Robert Rauschenberg ushered in a new era of postwar American art in the wake of Abstract Expressionism. Rauschenberg’s approach was sometimes called “Neo Dadaist,” a label he shared with the painter Jasper Johns, and was quoted as saying that he wanted to work “in the gap between art and life.” His Combine works (1954 to early 1960s) blurred the distinctions between painting and sculpture, as their flat surfaces were augmented with discarded materials and appropriated images. Rauschenberg also worked with photography, printmaking, papermaking, and performance, the last of which resulted in a number of collaborations with choreographers, including Merce Cunningham, Paul Taylor, and Trisha Brown. ROLAND ITEN® UNIQUE BUCKLE CALIBRE, “TEST-DRIVEN” BY SYLVESTER STALLONE ROLAND ITEN® Unique Buckle Calibre, “Test-driven” and certified Sylvester Stallone Roland Iten invented the world’s first mechanically performing belt buckle calibre in 2003. Using Swiss watchmaking machinery and employing over 100 mechanical parts in precious metals, the R8 Mark I Collection earned him the title as ‘pioneer of mechanical luxury’ - a segment in fine watch- making and jewelry within which he remains today the most serious con- tender. Fascinated by the belt buckle designs of the Swiss Military, Roland created a double-pronged tang and used it to modify the R8 Mark I Piece No. 079, hence creating a “proof of concept” piece for a newly evolved series – The R8 Mark II Double Ardillon Collection. The “R8 Mark II Concept Piece” is a solid white gold and titanium me- chanical buckle calibre set with 9 TW VVS+ conflict-free diamonds.

by Arthur Chandler BROKEN MUSIC Chapter One: New Music Gabe Wagner had his fingers jammed tightly in his ears. From the two huge loudspeakers in the comers of his garage studio, a roaring, high pitched sound filled the room. The windows were rattling, and the table that held his computer and electric keyboard shook as though an earthquake had struck. Gabe staggered toward the volume control on his amplifier. But as soon as he took one hand away from his ear to turn it down, the racket, howling like a crowd of hysterical people mixed with the growling of a hundred angry lions, battered his ear and forced him to cover it up again. Finally he bent down, grabbed the off-on switch with his teeth, and pulled the switch down. The horrendous sound went down fighting. The amplifier gave out sputtering and grunting sounds before it finally faded into silence. At last, Gabe took his fingers out of his ears. The garage door opened. 'Wow, Gabe! Did you do that just to greet me?" asked the cheerful girl who entered the room. "Next time, just a sweet serenade of a flute or two will do." A few seconds ago, Gabe was seriously thinking about kicking his computer out of sheer spite. Why, oh why, did that blasted music software program always go berserk when he was across the room and couldn't reach the volume control? But the sight of his visitor made him smile. ''Why Lena, don't you know I always think you're worth the biggest sound I can make?" he asked.

GNOSTIC MONASTERY - EGYPT - NIGHT The scene DESCENDS upon the stony face of an ancient monastery, only it’s not ancient at the moment. It stands as an imposing, solitary structure in the midst of a sandstorm. A moat surrounds the complex, although pointlessly so. Most of the drawbridge is overflowing with sand. SUPER: “GNOSTIC MONASTERY - A.D. 392” A caravan of soldiers on horseback barrel straight down the drawbridge. At the entrance of the drawbridge stands a Mute Monk, worn and with a permanently grim expression. He holds a torch out in front of him as the soldiers approach. INT. GNOSTIC MONASTERY/ABBOT’S CHAMBERS - LATER The ABBOT of the monastery, a shrewd-looking old man, stands at the center of this drab room. Moonlight streams in through an open window, casting murky shadows on the walls. The soldiers from the caravan stand before the Abbot, armed to the tooth.
