Abstract Additions, deletions and corrections are made to the Irish checklist of butterflies and moths (Lepidoptera). Elachista biatomella (Stainton, 1848) is added to the Irish list. The total number of confirmed Irish species of Lepidoptera now stands at 1480. Key words: Lepidoptera, additions, deletions, corrections, Irish list, Elachista biatomella Introduction Bond, Nash and O’Connor (2006) provided a checklist of the Irish Lepidoptera. Since its publication, many new discoveries have been made and are reported here. In addition, several deletions have been made. A concise and updated checklist is provided. The following abbreviations are used in the text: BM(NH) – The Natural History Museum, London; NMINH – National Museum of Ireland, Natural History, Dublin. The total number of confirmed Irish species now stands at 1480, an addition of 68 since Bond et al. (2006). Taxonomic arrangement As a result of recent systematic research, it has been necessary to replace the arrangement familiar to British and Irish Lepidopterists by the Fauna Europaea [FE] system used by Karsholt 60 Bulletin of the Irish Biogeographical Society No. 36 (2012) and Razowski, which is widely used in continental Europe. -

Particularly remarkable species are pre sented and commented to supplementary. A checklist of all species is attached. New bionomie knowledge of some species is described, i.e. Xenolechia aethiops (H umphreys & W estwood , 1845). The zoo-geographic status of some individual species as bore- omontan is revised, i.e. Neofaculta infernella (H errich-Schàffer, 1854). A checklist of all other observed species is attached Einleitung Die Region Nordwest-Deutschland ist ein eiszeitlich geprägtes Tiefland mit höchsten Erhebungen von 169 m (Wilseder Berg in der Lüneburger Heide) und 168 m (Bungsberg in Ostholstein) über N.N., und umfasst die Bundesländer Schleswig- Holstein und das nördliche Niedersachsen inkl. Hamburg und Bremen. Die Grenze bilden im Norden Dänemark sowie die Nordsee- und Ostseeküste, im Westen die Niederlande, im Osten die Bundesländer Mecklenburg-Vorpommern und Sachsen- Anhalt und im Süden die Linie von 52° 30' nördlicher Breite. -
Welsh Sand Dunes Amounts to Some 945 Species, with Vascular Plants Representing About 439 of These (Rhind 1999)
Wales Coastal Ecosystem Group Priority Action Sand Dune Priority Area Sand dunes represent one of the most natural and species-rich habitats in Wales, supporting vast numbers of plants, fungi and invertebrates. The total floristic assemblage for Welsh sand dunes amounts to some 945 species, with vascular plants representing about 439 of these (Rhind 1999). Fungi unexpectedly form the next most important group with approximately 289 species, followed by bryophytes (171 species) and terricolous lichens (66 species). They are also extremely rich in invertebrates (Howe et al. 2010), with 454 species restricted or mostly confined to sand dunes in Wales including 156 beetles, 117 flies, 65 bees & wasps, 50 bugs and 25 spiders. Whilst the largest dune systems inevitably support the largest numbers of species, some of our smaller sites support rare vegetation communities, (Morfa Dinlle and Crymlyn Burrows) or key species. For example, Morfa Conwy supports the only Welsh population of the belted beauty moth Lycia zonaria. It is therefore of considerable concern that sand dunes are now facing many threats to their conservation. For example, most of the Natura 2000 sand dunes features in Wales are now considered to be unfavourable and declining. The following outlines some of the major areas of concern. Major Concerns • Stabilization The dune resource of Wales has changed dramatically over the past 50 years, becoming much more stable with far fewer mobile dunes and embryonic dune slacks. At Newborough Warren, for example, nearly 75% of the total dune area in the 1950s consisted of mobile dunes and embryonic dune slacks with open vegetation. -

Sci., 23 (4): 589–593 Fifteen parasitoid species of order Hymenoptera were collected in eight habitats in Bulgaria. Six species belong to fam- ily Ichneumonidae, respectively 5 – to Braconidae, 2 – to Eulophidae and 1 respectively to Perilampidae and Pteromalidae. Microplitis naenia and Phthorima compressa are new species for Bulgarian fauna. Four new primary host-parasitoid trophic interactions were established and eight plant associates are new for the parasitoids Teliutaea striata – Rubus idaeus. A checklist of the Microlepidoptera species recorded in Slovenia is presented. Each entry is accompanied by complete references, and remarks where appropriate. Until now, the data on Microlepidopteran fauna of Slovenia have not been compiled, with the existing information scattered in literature, museums and private collections throughout Europe. The present checklist is based on records extracted from 290 literature sources published from 1763 (Scopoli) to present. In total, 1645 species from 56 families are listed. Keywords: Microlepidoptera, checklist, Slovenia, fauna Izvleček. SEZNAM METULJČKOV (MICROLEPIDOPTERA) SLOVENIJE – Predstavljen je seznam vrst metuljčkov, zabeleženih v Sloveniji. Za vsako vrsto so podane reference, kjer je bilo smiselno, pa tudi komentar. Do sedaj podatki o metuljčkih Slovenije še niso bili zbrani, obstoječi podatki pa so bili razpršeni v različnih pisnih virih, muzejskih in zasebnih zbirkah po Evropi. Predstavljeni seznam temelji na podatkih iz 290 pisnih virov, objavljenih od 1763 (Scopoli) do danes. Skupaj je navedenih 1645 vrst iz 56 družin. Gloucestershire Key Wildlife Sites Handbook Part 3: Appendices Appendix 3 – Species of conservation concern in Gloucestershire This Appendix contains the reference species lists for use when assessing the minimum thresholds for selecting KWS on species grounds. General thresholds for different categories of species conservation status are detailed in Part 2 of the KWS Handbook, Section 2.6. Key species groups such at bats, amphibians and butterflies also have an accompanying rationale for site selection, provided by the relevant expert County Recorders. “Schedule” in the Status column of the species lists refers to schedules of The Wildlife and Countryside Act 1981 (and subsequent amendments) unless otherwise stated. IUCN Red List refers to the IUCN Global Red List; National Red List is the national listing based on IUCN criteria but applied regionally rather than globally. A longer summary of the legislation and designation categories relating to species status is listed in Appendix 4 . The relevant threshold from the Species Criteria in Section 2.6 is included next to each species list, or individual species entry where applicable. Please note that these tables will be subject to regular updates as and when the status of species is reviewed, and that some species may occasionally be added to, or removed from, the lists. Species assemblage indices may also change from time to time. Please check that you have the latest version of Appendix 3 before assessing a site for KWS selection!
