Many species are recognized as vectors of pathogens and causes of diseases. Invasion of human living tissue by arthropods, including demodicosis, scabiasis, myiasis, canthariasis, scarabiasis, scoleciasis and tungiasis, is one of the important and commonly neglected human illnesses. In this review, we summarize the current knowledge on biology, diseases, epidemiology, diagnoses, and treatment from these parasitic arthropods. Although these seven diseases can be found worldwide, only three invasions, namely demodeciosis, myiasis and scabiasis, have been occasionally reported in Thailand. This article would increase awareness and understanding among Thai medical and public health personnel about all these illnesses and lead to the better prevention and control of the other arthropods’ invasions.
