PVP 18.95 de Gustave Flaubert Procedentes de Constantinopla, Flaubert y su amigo Maxime Du Camp emprenden en Atenas la tercera parte del Viaje a Oriente, una última etapa que, de diciembre de 1850 a junio de 1851, les llevará desde Grecia hasta Italia. La ciudad de Venecia pondrá fin a esta gran aventura de casi dos años de duración, en la que partiendo de París recorrieron Egipto, Líbano, Palestina, Siria y Asia Menor. El Peloponeso, Nápoles, Roma o Florencia forman parte del itinerario de Flaubert en esta etapa final de su viaje por Oriente. Ilustrado con numerosas fotografías de la época. El Autor Gustave Flaubert (Rouen, 1821 - Croisset, 1880). Su obra está considerada como una de las más importantes del s. XIX y como precursora de las experien- cias formales del s. XX. En 1842 inició en París sus estudios de derecho, que tuvo que abandonar al declararse los primeros síntomas de los graves trastornos nervio- sos que le aquejaron durante toda su vida. En 1846 se retiró definitivamente a una finca en Croisset, donde se dedicó de forma exclusiva a la literatura, de la que sólo le distrajeron sus relaciones amorosas con Louise Colet y el largo viaje por Orien- te; a su regreso publicó Madame Bovary (1857). Tras un nuevo viaje por el norte de África (1858), escribió Salambó (1862). En 1869 publicó La educación sentimental y, en 1874, La tentación de san Antonio. De 1877 son sus Tres cuentos (La leyenda de san Julián el Hospitalario, Herodías y Un corazón sencillo). Flaubert murió de una hemorragia cerebral en Croisset, pero fue enterrado en el panteón familiar del cementerio de Rouen. Un año después de su muerte apareció la inacabada Bouvard y Pécuchet (1881). El Fotógrafo Maxime Du Camp (París, 1822 - Baden Baden, 1894). Escritor y fotógrafo francés, miembro de la Académie française. Este gran viajero fue uno de los fundado- res en 1851 de la Revue de Paris, publicación que editó Madame Bovary, y colaborador habitual de la Revue des Deux Mondes. Entre sus trabajos literarios destacan Paris, ses organes, ses fonctions, sa vie y Les Convulsions de Paris. Sirvió de voluntario en 1860 con Garibaldi, participando en la Expedición de los Mil. Murió en 1894, y está enterrado en el cementerio de Montmartre. La Traductora Lola Bermúdez Medina es Catedrática de Filología Francesa en la Univer- sidad de Cádiz y se interesa por la literatura francesa de finales del s. XIX y por las relaciones entre la literatura y la pintura, sobre las que ha publicado una serie de trabajos en revistas nacionales e internacionales.
