And Importan[E Df Species İn Turkey LV Türk. Bit. Kor. Derg. c1981J, 5 (ı) : 5 - 21 Preliminary list of Au[benorrbyo[ba wltb notes DO diltrihution and importan[e Df species İn Turkey LV. family Issidae Spinola N. Lodos* A. Kalkandelen** Summary In the present paper, the list of Issidae species, collected in Turkey upto the end of 1979 are given. By this study 48 species belonging to 15 genera are recorded. Seven species: Mycterodus anatoloriens Dlabola, M. ballkeslricus Dlabola, M. izmiticus Dlabola, Falcidius anatollcus Dlabola, Quadrastylum campanuliforme Dlabola, Tshurtshurnella cappadocica Dlabola and T. lodosi Dlabola are described by Dr. Dlabola from the material collected during this study. There are several more new species which will be deseribed by Dr. Dlabola. Also twelve species : Ommatidiotus dissimilis (Fallen) , O. Irıconspicuus Stal, Mycterodus carpathicus Logv., M. denticulatus Lind., M. goricus (Dlab.J, M. ovifrons Puton, M. pallens Stal, M. rostratulus EmeL., M. serbicus Dlab., Hysteropterum lesbicum Dlab., Quadrastylum scoleogramma Fieb. and Issus coleoptratus IF'> are new records for Turkey. Distribution, abundance, and host plants of each species are given. introduction Turkish fauna of Issidae is not very extensively studied up to now, as it is for the other families of Auchenorrhyncha. The previous records' mostly content a few species of Issidae from Turkey. Some earlier records had been made by Fieber (1872, 1876). Oshanin (1912) in his catalogue * University of Ege, Faculty of Agriculture, Department of Entomology and Agricultural Zoology, Bornova, İzmir'> Turkey. ** Plant Protection Research Institute, Plant Protection Museum, Kalaba. Ankara - Turkey. Alınış (Beceivedr : 31. 10. 1980 listed six species from Turkey. Fahringer (1922) mentioned only two species and gaye their host plants. Bodenheimer (1958) also mentioned shortly from two species and stated the damage of Agalmatium flavescens (Oliver) on trees, espeeially on Olea europaea. Dlabola (1957) eolleeted specimens of five species of Issidae from Turkeyand deseribed one new species Hysteropterum parvissimum Dlabola, from the material eolleeted in Central Anatolla. Metcalf (1958) catalogued ıa species of Issidae, frcm Turkey including these five species : Caiıscelie affinis Fieb., Ommatidiotus viduus Horvath, Mycterodus orthocephalus Ferrari, Hysteropterum conspurcatum Spinola and Issus tendinosus Spinola. However depending upon the earlier records of Schaum (1850), Puton (1875, 1886, 1899), Mantandon (1900), Melic har (lDoo) and Oshanin (1907), these five species reported from Turkey, during last decades no other records have not been made to eonfirm the occurrence of these species in Turkey. Alsa the authors have not been able to collect any representative of these species, Linnavuori (l9G5) alsa collected specimens of Issidae in Turkey, belonging to eight species, including new deseriptions of Husieropterıutı campestre ssp. bulens, H. despectum. - now Tshurtshurnella despecta (Linn.), H. triiasciaium - now Tshurtshurııella irijasciata (Linn.) and new genus Megissıts and its species M. acutus - now Tshurtshurnella acuia (Linn.). Nast (1972) also listed 18 species from Turkey. Dlabola (1971, 1977, 1979a,b) deseribed total1y 12 new species from the material collected in Turkey. Mter eorrespondanee with Dr. Dlabola, it is learned that there are several mor e new species in the material, the authors sent him for identificatiorı. These specirnens will be deseribed by Dr. Dlabola, to whom the authors are thankf'ul for his eontributions and identifications. it is obvious that there could be found more species of Issidae in Turkey, which could be determined by more careful and extensive collecting on various plants. Species of Issidae have not very much economical importance. Only Agalmatium flavescens (Oliver) sometimes may cause slight damage to Olea europaea and Ficus caricaby covering trees with mud egg chambers and feeding of nymphs and adults on young branches and shoots. • Vectores Potenciales De Xylella Fastidiosa En El Olivar De La Provincia De Sevilla
livo..

Analysis of the resulting molecular phylogenies shows a low support of the results presented, probably due to genes and species sampling bias not enough representative of diversity and evolution of issidoid lineages. While Issidae monophyly is not clearly recovered, monophyly of Western Palaearctic issid genera and Caliscelidae respectively seems well supported; however genus Bubastia Emeljanov appears

Hemiptera, Fulgoroidea, Issidae, Caliscelidae, Acanaloniidae, karyotypes, holokinetic chromosomes, testes, ovaries, evolution, systematics Abstract. The aim of this study was to obtain information on the karyotypes, testes and ovaries of three fulgoroid families, mainly in the Issidae but also in the Caliscelidae and Acanaloniidae. For the Issidae, the data is for 19 species belonging to 11 genera of the subtribes Issina (2 species, 1 genus), Hysteropterina (14 species, 9 genera) and Agalmatiina (3 species, 2 genera) of the tribe Issini. The male karyotypes are shown to be quite uniform across the tribe, with 2n = 26 + X in all species studied except Latilica macu- lipes (Melichar, 1906) with 2n = 24 + X. The modal karyotype, 2n = 26 + X, matches the most probable ancestral state in the Fulgor- oidea. In the majority of cases the number of seminal follicles in males and ovarioles in females are stable within but fairly variable among the species, the modal value of the follicle number is 10 per testis. Contrary to what might be expected from other fulgoroid families, such as the Dictyopharidae and Delphacidae, the variability in these characters revealed neither regular trends nor evident correspondence with the taxonomy of Issidae.

However, during the last five years, widespread X. fastidiosa infections have been reported in a constrained area of the Apulia region (southern Italy), in olives trees suffering a severe disease, denoted as Olive Quick Decline Syndrome (OQDS). Because many xylem sap-feeding insects can function as vectors for the transmission of this exotic pathogen in EU, several research programs are ongoing to assess the role of candidate vectors in the spread of the infections. Initial investigations identified Philaenus spumarius (L.) as the predominant

  • A Review of the Endemic Planthoppers, Leafhoppers and Allies of Cyprus (Hemiptera: Auchenorrhyncha), with Notes on Additional Species
Cicadina 16 (2016): 25-36 25 A review of the endemic planthoppers, leafhoppers and allies of Cyprus (Hemiptera: Auchenorrhyncha), with notes on additional species Alex J. Ramsay1 Summary: Cyprus is the third largest island in the Mediterranean with a total land area of 9.251 km2, and has an altitudinal range from sea level to nearly 2000 m. The island is charac- terised by a high diversity of habitats including saltmarsh and seasonal saltpans, sand dunes, pine and cedar forest, broad-leaved evergreen and deciduous forests, mountains and coastal plains, and including many endemic plant species. Early records of Auchenorrhyn- cha from Cyprus include two species of Issidae described by Melichar (1906) and not subsequently recorded. The majority of the Auchenorrhyncha species on Cyprus were rec- orded by the Lindberg expedition of 1939 (Lindberg 1948), which recorded 118 species in 13 families (Aphrophoridae, Caliscelidae, Cicadellidae, Cicadidae, Cixiidae, Delphacidae, Dictyopharidae, Flatidae, Issidae, Meenoplidae, Tettigometridae, Tibicinidae, Tropi- duchidae), with 33 species recorded as new to science by both Lindberg (1948b) and Ribaut (1948). Subsequent interest in the fauna has increased the number of recorded species on Cyprus to 170 representing 14 families. The majority of species recorded on Cyprus share faunal affinities with the Turkey, Greece and the Near East. Only seven species are now confirmed as endemic to Cyprus. Key words: Auchenorrhyncha, Endemic, Cyprus, Mediterranean. 1. Introduction Cyprus is the third largest island in the Mediterranean with an area of 9.251 km2 (3.571 square miles) and is situated in the very eastern part. The island is characterised by two main mountain ranges, the Troodos mountains in the centre, and the Pentadaktylos moun- tains which parallel the northern coast.

Vol. LXIII Bratislava, 2017 PRVÝ NÁLEZ CIKÁDY AGALMATIUM FLAVESCENS (AUCHENORRHYNCHA, ISSIDAE) NA SLOVENSKU Vladimír Janský, Michaela Strmisková Abstract: First record of planthopper Agalmatium flavescens (Auchenorrhyncha, Issidae) in Slovakia. The polyphagous palearctic planthopper species, widespread in the Mediter- ranean, was recorded for the first time in a little area at the border of an unkept vineyard in Bratislava‑Rača, part Dolné Záhumenice, 170 m a.s.l. in August 2016 and August 2017. Key words: faunistics, Agalmatium flavescens, distribution, Central Europe Úvod V posledných desaťročiach mnohé druhy hmyzu menia svoje pôvodné areály a rozširujú sa do nových, často aj vzdialených území. V južnej časti strednej Európy žijú dva druhy – A. flavescens a A. bilobum (Holzinger et al. 2003).

  • Investigating Vector Specificity of Flavescence Dorée Phytoplasma of Some Hemiptera Species
INVESTIGATING VECTOR SPECIFICITY OF FLAVESCENCE DORÉE PHYTOPLASMA OF SOME HEMIPTERA SPECIES A. Bressan1, 2, D. Clair1 & E. Few information are reported in literature concerning the specificity of vector transmission of phytoplasmas. Some phytoplasma strains seem to be specifically transmitted, for example phytoplasmas in the Elm yellow group seem to be transmitted by only a few leafhopper species. Other strains have low vector specificity, such as those clustered in the Aster yellows group, which are transmitted by several leafhopper species. Flavescence dorée (FD) of the grapevine is associated with a phytoplasma (FDP) that seems to be specifically transmitted in the field by the leafhopper vector Scaphoideus titanus Ball (Hemiptera, Cicadomorpha, Cicadellidae) (Schvester et al., 1963; Vidano, 1964; Mori et al., 2002). However Caudwell et al. (1972) showed that in experimental conditions, Euscelidius variegatus Kirschbaum (Hemiptera, Cicadomorpha, Cicadellidae) was an efficient alternative vector of FDP to herbaceous hosts although it cannot feed-acquire FDP from infected grapevines. Hence the species of source and recipient plants are very important both in natural diffusion and experimental assays. In the present work we studied the vector specificity of FDP by 15 Hemiptera Cicadomorpha and Fulgoromorpha species collected in European vineyards.
