Not-for-Profit Status LUMS is a federally chartered university and is approved as a not-for- profit organisation under section 2(36) of Income Tax Ordinance, 2001 in terms of provisions of Clause 63 of Part IV of Second Schedule to the Ordinance. Any individual or organisation making donations to LUMS is entitled to a tax credit under section 61 of Income Tax Ordinance, 2001. Moreover, the University has been granted exemption from the levy of income tax under Section 159 of the Ordinance, thus, tax is not deductible on payments made to the University. 11 || The University’s Profile GETTING TO KNOW LAHORE With a blend of great food, quality educational institutions, parks and plenty of activities, Lahore is the cultural capital of Pakistan. The city is known for its historical monuments and its countless poets, scholars, writers, intellectuals and scientists. Standing tall in the heart of the city is the grand Lahore Fort, the magnificent Badshahi Mosque, Minar-e-Pakistan and the Sheesh Mahal - a UNESCO recognised world heritage site. Faculty work closely with students, who are at the centre of the learning experience and curate and customise their educational trajectory. They can choose from a variety of degrees at the undergraduate, graduate and doctoral levels and can pick courses from different Schools and Departments. This allows each student to develop a holistic approach towards their field of study and this transdisciplinary approach is key to innovation and discovery at LUMS. 15 | The University’s Profile SULEMAN DAWOOD SCHOOL OF BUSINESS (SDSB) Within a span of 35 years, SDSB has transformed into an internationally acclaimed business school. As Pakistan’s first and only business school to have earned the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB) international accreditation, SDSB offers its students leading edge business and management education. SDSB is rated as a top B-School in Pakistan in Employability Rankings, and its MBA is ranked in the QS University Rankings as the top 30 in Asia, and Executive MBA in the top 15. SDSB is the pioneer of the case method of learning in Pakistan, and adds blended and experiential learning to its pedagogy.
