Dom Pachino Staten Island, New York, USA “The Premier Militant Music Maker.” Dom Pachino Staten Island, New York, USA Biography Dom Pachino also known as P.R. Terrorist is a rapper of Puerto Rican descent. He is a solo artist and founding member of the notorious Hip-Hop collective Killarmy. Dom Pachino was born in uptown Manhattan and later moved to Staten Island's Stapleton Projects. He started out by showcasing his talents in public school lunch rooms, while urging friends would provide a beat for him by banging on tables with fist and bare knuckles. To then making a name for himself locally in the slums of Staten Island's small hip hop circles in the early 90's. During that period, he became good friends with RZA's (Wu-Tang Clan founder) younger brother 9th Prince and they later formed the group Killarmy. The six-man crew introduced the masses to their new militant style of hip-hop. Killarmy was the first and most successful group to come out of the Wu camp. Their 1996 debut album Silent Weapons for Quiet Wars was a hit. Followed by Dirty Weaponry in 1998. Lastly, on September 11th 2001 they released their final and very controversial Fear, Love and War. All three albums were highly praised by the fans and critics. Unfortunately, some internal problems within the group prevented them from working together again. Experiencing three successful major releases (two through Priority Records, and one through Loud Records) with a debut album that cracked the top ten R&B/Hip Hop billboard charts, three world tours with Wu-Tang Clan and countless features on gold albums such as RZA's Bobby Digital album and Wu-Tang Killa Bees: The Swarm compilation; it wasn't hard for Dom to establish his own independent record company Napalm Recordings in 2002, with the focal point of bringing militant music to a main stream audience. The company released a slew of albums, compilations, mixtapes, DVDs via mom and pop record stores and online through all major retailers, in addition to organizing tours in the United States, South America, Europe, and Africa. After his 2011 release, The Last Armageddon, Dom Pachino took time off from the music business and went on a four-year hiatus. While on tour in Columbia with producer Bronze Nazareth in 2012, the two spoke about working on a collaboration together. However, that did not materialize immediately. In 2015, they finally started the production process that would later be called War Poetry, the critically acclaimed limited edition album. His successful return enabled his company to organize a War Poetry tour in Spain, Belgium, Netherlands and Austria. In addition to his music work, Dom Pachino is an actor and director that has appeared in a number of films, television and cable programs including Gospel Hill a 2008 film directed and produced by Giancarlo Esposito and starring Danny Glover. He has also been on the Larry Sanders Show, the Jon Stewart Show, CSI: NY, Comedy Central: Upright Citizens Brigade and the Bobby Digital film by RZA of the Wu-Tang Clan. Dom also starred and directed two documentary films, Life of a Performer a two-part series. Currently, he is working on a tour and a new album to be released in the late summer of 2016. • Pioneer Hip Hop Execs Team up for New Venture
Pioneer Hip Hop Execs Team Up for New Venture Written by Robert ID3329 Thursday, 15 February 2007 07:18 - Pioneering Urban music execs Steve Rifkind and Lee “Skill” Resnick will combine forces for a joint venture strategic alliance between the former’s SRC and the latter’s SouthEast Music to form one of the premier creative Urban marketing and promotion ventures in the world. Rifkind, the founder of the original hip-hop Street Team guerilla marketing concept, for which he holds the patent, will join with Resnick, whose company specializes in a non-traditional approach to creative marketing and promotional strategies in reaching the urban consumer and building brands. “This pairing between Lee and I is a long time coming. His ideas about Urban marketing are a logical extension of my own street team concept in the early ‘90s,” said Rifkind. “This combination is the perfect example of the whole being stronger than the sum of its parts.” Rifkind’s SRC Records is distributed through Universal Motown, just releasing Akon’s Konvicted album, which debuted at #2 on the Hot 200 and almost 300k in first-week sales, producing two hip hop hit duets with Eminem (“Smack That”) and Snoop Dogg (“I Wanna Love You”). Rifkind’s Loud Records produced such legendary hip-hop acts as Wu Tang Clan, Big Pun and Xzibit. Resnick’s SouthEast Music’s Marketing and Distribution maintains relationships not just in Urban music, but film, fashion, video games and entertainment, reaching out to “tastemakers” and “influencers” to plan creative and innovative marketing solutions from the initial strategic planning stages to execution.

  • True Heads: Historicizing the Hip Hop "Nation"
TRUE HEADS Historicizing the Hip_Hop "Nation" in Context by R. Scott Heath Hip_hop culture is intricately linked to any comprehensive understanding of race and national identity in the United States at the turn of the twentieth-first century. What was initially developed as a mode of marginal expression, conceived as a countermeasure to the material and social inequities of American postindustrialism, has, in the past several years, become perhaps the most prominent medium by which blackness is represented in the U.S. and by which blackness and Americanness are represented globally. And hip_hop, which might best be imagined as a way of reading and critiquing public culture, is itself troubled by the ways that it is read and recontextualized by its detractors and proponents alike. For this reason it is imperative that we explore the extent to which hip_hop discourse seems to typify American convention as much as it informs it, particularly in light of recent international events that have reignited some tough discussions about what Americanness means. This project elucidates the challenges of historiography as it concerns a cultural practice that has been racially marked as black and that has been understood as a site of militant, class-based struggle and resistance. Hip_hop and conversations around hip_hop almost necessarily compromise the boundaries of private and public expressive spheres, challenging us as critical thinkers to account for the consistent evidence of alternative intellectualisms and revised epistemolo- gies. The work
