Directors Note “A man who seeks revenge should dig two graves.” - Chinese Proverb

“No trait is more justified than revenge in the right time and place.” – Meir Kahane

“Revenge is an act of passion; vengeance of justice. Injuries are revenged; crimes are avenged.” – Samuel Johnson

“Revenge is barren of itself; it is the dreadful food it feeds on; its delight is murder, and its end is despair.” – Fredrich Schiller

The desire for revenge is a universal human desire. Wrongs exacted upon Director Sarah E. Budge our families, friends, or selves, unleashes cold power of bloodlust within us. Driving us to unimaginable boundaries in the effort to balance the scales of justice. We dream of the utter destruction of our foes. We thrill when we succeed, and failure spurs us to deeper levels of vengeance.

Thomas Middleton’s The Revenger’s displays the dangerous extent of the power of revenge. From the mightiest ruler to the poorest servant, ambition, lust, desire, and greed inspire the characters of the basest of actions; rape, incest, and murder – leaving nothing but a pile of bodies.

Sit back, relax, but beware… there will be blood.
