Sechs Parks und Gärten der Klassik Stiftung Weimar sind Außenstandorte der Bundesgartenschau 2021 im benachbarten Erfurt. Das nimmt die Klassik Stiftung zum Anlass, ein ganzes Themenjahr unter dem Titel Neue Natur. Experimente. Ausstellungen. Debatten zu veranstalten. Die Fülle an Attraktionen in Weimar und dem Weimarer Land wird weit über die BUGA hinausweisen. 2 / 3 Park- und Gartenreise durch die Epochen GOETHES GARTENHAUS 2 / 3 PARKS UND GÄRTEN Besucherzentrum im Park an der Ilm Erstmals stehen in Weimar die Parks im Zentrum der ungeteil- ten Aufmerksamkeit. Der Park an der Ilm mit Goethes Garten am Stern, die Schlossparks in Belvedere, Ettersburg, Tiefurt und Kochberg ordnen sich hier ein. „Der Besucher bewegt sich wie mit einer Schatzkarte zu den einzelnen Orten“, kün- digt Ulrike Lorenz, Präsidentin der Klassik Stiftung Weimar, an. Zentraler Ausgangspunkt ist „nicht wie so oft ein Denk- mal, sondern eine iegende zeitgenössische Architektur“, beschreibt Ulrike Lorenz das Grüne Labor. Der von jungen Wei- marer Architekten entwickelte Pavillon entsteht aus im Park gewonnenen natürlichen Materialen wie Baum- und Rasen- schnitt in der Nähe der Ruine des Tempelherrenhauses. Das hätte Goethe auch bewegt „Wir beschäftigen uns nicht nur mit der Vergangenheit, son- dern önen uns ins Heute. Klimawandel im historischen Park und Pandemie in einer globalen Schicksalsgemeinschaft – mit diesen Spannungsfeldern setzen wir uns genauso ausein- ander, wie mit unseren kulturhistorischen Wurzeln und dem ideengeschichtlichen Zusammenhang. Das alles hätte Goethe genauso bewegt, wenn er heute leben würde“, ist sich Ulrike Lorenz sicher. Gleichzeitig könne man am Park an der Ilm eine Weltan- schauung ablesen. „Goethe und seine Zeitgenossen wollten Landschaftsbilder – ein bewusst ästhetisches Verhältnis zur Natur – schaen“, sagt sie. Damals veränderte sich der Blick STERN, PARK AN DER ILM auf die Natur radikal. Die seit Monaten andauernde Corona- Pandemie oenbart heute erneut, wieviel Tröstung in der Natur liegen kann. Trotzdem komme man nicht umhin, sich „Ich hasse die Natur“ mit dem heute gewachsenen Nutzungsdruck auseinander- zusetzen. Mit ganz unterschiedlichen Ideen nähert sich die Klassik Stiftung Weimar dem Jahresthema „Neue Natur“, das mit „Die heutigen Freizeitansprüche, Fahrräder und Traktoren der Bundesgartenschau in Erfurt 2021 korrespondiert: zur Pege der Parks gab es im 18. Jahrhundert noch nicht. Der Einzug der Pomeranzen Der sommerliche Höhepunkt des Jahres ist das Erö- nungsfest in Belvedere zum Start der Freiluftsaison am 5. und 6. Juni 2021 in der Orangerie: Mit dem Ankauf von 70 ausgewählten Pomeranzenbäumen, die im Herbst schon aus der Nähe von Rom ihre Reise nach Weimar angetreten haben, kann erstmals wieder mit insgesamt 120 Bitterorangenbäumen das barocke Bild des Innenhofs der Orangerie hergestellt werden. Park und Schloss Belvedere bieten eine Reihe von historischen und neuen Attraktionen (siehe S. 7). 4 / 5 Orte und Ausstellungen Grünes Labor am Tempelherrenhaus Park an der Ilm Hier sind ab dem Erönungswochenende (17. bis 18. April 2021) ein großer Teil der Angebote, der Besucherinformation und -lenkung gebündelt. Philosophische Spaziergänge oder Rundgänge zu Gartenthemen starten hier ebenso wie mobile Satelliten: Lastenräder werden zu Popup-Werk- stätten, die überall im Stadtraum auftauchen und zur Interaktion einladen. „Ich hasse die Natur“ Ausstellung im Schiller-Museum Der radikale Titel ist ein Zitat aus dem Drama Der Weltverbesserer von Thomas Bernhard aus dem Jahr 1978 und soll provozieren. Die Ausstellung bietet eine besondere Reexion des sich stetig wandelnden Naturverständnisses. Sie konfrontiert die Besucherinnen und Besucher mit dem spannungs- geladenen Verhältnis zwischen Mensch und Natur. Die Besucher können sich auf besucherfreundlichere Informa- tionstafeln freuen, ein Grünes Labor am Tempelherrenhaus als Zentrum und Veranstaltungsort (siehe S. 4) sowie wieder freigelegte historische Haupt- und Nebensicht- achsen. Allein auf acht dieser Blickbeziehungen weisen in den Boden eingelassene Plaketten hin. Sie alle zu ent- decken, setzt einen ausgedehnten Spaziergang auch auf den verschlungenen Nebenwegen voraus. Es lohnt sich. ROSENSPALIER AN GOETHES GARTENHAUS Exotisch und sehenswert Die Kaukasische Flügelnuss, der Tulpenbaum oder die gut 250 Jahre alte Eiche an Goethes Gartenhaus zählen zu den Höhepunkten im Park an der Ilm. Nur wenige Bäume gehören noch zum ursprünglichen Bestand, dennoch STERNBRÜCKE AM SCHLOSS, PARK AN DER ILM bemühen sich die Gärtner der Klassik Stiftung Weimar diese Raritäten zu erhalten: So ist die Kaukasische Flügelnuss an der Naturbrücke zu ILMTAL RADWEG nden oder einer der ältesten Tulpenbäume, der als Naturdenkmal deklariert ist, am FEININGER RADWEG Breiten Weg zwischen Liszt-Denkmal und Römischen Haus. RADWEG THÜRINGER STÄDTEKETTE 2 KM 6 / 7 Schloss und Park Ettersburg Ein Kleinod thüringischer Gartenkunst: der Schlosspark sowie der Pücklerschlag, eine lang gezogene Waldwiese mit schön gestalteten Konturen und dem Jagdstern an seinen Ausläufern. Im Schlossumfeld wurden seltene Gehölze gepanzt wie Robinien, Platanen und Tulpen- bäume. Einer der ältesten Bäume ist der Tulpenbaum westlich des Alten Schlosses, der seit mehr als 200 Jahren dort steht.     Dear Journalist/Editor The Bauhaus centenary year may be over, but the influential art and design movement remains in the international spotlight. Below is an article that in- cludes comments from eminent publications, pointing out that 2019 was a cat- alyst for a new appreciation of the Bauhaus movement. And that interest con- tinues in 2020. Inspired by exhibitions both in Germany and around the world, more and more visitors are planning vacations in BauhausLand, the German federal states of Saxony-Anhalt and Thuringia. This editorial contribution is, of course, free for use. Bauhaus: Still in the spotlight! BAUHAUSLAND: ATTRACTING NEW FANS In 2019, the worldwide celebrations for the centenary of the Bauhaus focused on the achievements of this influential art and design movement. The range of exhibitions appealed to aficionados, but they also attracted a brand-new audi- ence. Leila Stone wrote in The Architect’s Newspaper: “Bauhaus is architec- ture.     How we celebrate International Women’s Day in BauhausLand Women in the Bauhaus movement: Discover who they were and what they did When an exhibition by Bauhaus artist Anni Albers opened in London recently, art critics gave the show five stars. Albers’ textiles, wall-hangings and “pictorial weavings” were a revelation. But she was not the only female artist in the Bauhaus. Now, as the world marks the 100th birthday of this revolutionary design movement, the contributions of its women designers are in the spot- light. In BauhausLand (the German federal states of Thuringia and Saxony- Anhalt), women, such as Albers, Gertrud Arndt and Marianne Brandt are being celebrated. And, a couple of hours to the north, Berlin, another Bauhaus hotspot, has declared International Women's Day (March 8) to be an official public holiday. Anni Albers: Master of Textiles When Walter Gropius created the Bauhaus school in Weimar in 1919, every- one was welcome “without regard to age or sex.” In fact, more women than men applied! Anni Albers studied weaving and went on to be a brilliant and influential textile designer. After fleeing Germany, she based herself at Black Mountain College in Asheville, North Carolina, USA. Gunta Stölzl: Designer, teacher and producer Albers had studied under Gunta Stölzl. She was the head of the Bauhaus weaving department and one of only six women in the 45-strong faculty. Stölzl transformed her students into a full-on, professional, industrial design unit. For example, they designed and wove the blankets for the beds in Dessau’s stu- dent dorm. The Bauhaus Dessau Foundation has a fine collection of Stölzl’s textiles.
