Our Sponsors & CORPORATE ALLIANCE PARTNER PROFILE Institutional Funders Mary’s Pizza Shack Thank you for making arts and education possible in Sonoma County!

NAMING SPONSOR Mary’s Pizza Shack was founded in 1959 by Mary Fazio using her father’s recipes and her home EXCLUSIVE WINE SPONSOR kitchen’s pots and pans.

Mary created a warm and cozy place where friends and family gathered to enjoy her home- cooked meals. Everything was made from scratch- from pizza dough and soups to pasta sauces and salad dressings. Nearly sixty years later, Mary’s Pizza Shack still use the same recipes, ingredients, love and care that were learned from Mary.

The company is still owned and operated by the family – the third generation handles the day-to-day running of the business in roles ranging from CEO to spearheading charitable The Ernest L. & Ruth W. Finley Foundation giving. There are now 19 restaurants located around Northern California, from the original “Shack” in Boyes Hot Springs, to locations in Sonoma, Napa, Marin, Solano, Contra Costa, Shasta and Placer counties.

Mary’s family extends well beyond the branches of the family tree. She believed in supporting families, education and the community in ways big and small. There are countless stories of her sending a little extra food to make sure that families who were on a tight budget had enough to feed everyone. That commitment to the community - and especially to the children, has been passed down to Mary’s children and grandchildren who honor it today in a significant way. Today, the Mary’s Pizza Shack team supports a number of schools and youth organizations just as Mary Fazio would. Given LBC’s deep roots in the community—just like Mary’s Pizza Shack—and especially the wide range of LBC programs that impact Sonoma County youth, it seems like a perfect fit for Mary’s to be a part of the

She liked how the ushers worked with people and asked about getting involved. A self-professed To learn more and apply, visit ‘people person,’ Alicia loves chatting with the guests who attend the shows. “It’s not lutherburbankcenter.org/ volunteer a chore - I love talking to people!” Working at three school shows within one week this January, Alicia was especially delighted seeing the children visit the Center. She’s proud to be a part of the LBC, because it “exposes children and young people to the arts.”

When Alicia first moved to Sonoma County from Chile, she lived with her sister. She eventually got her own place but, sadly, was displaced by the October fire. After all Alicia has been through, we are truly grateful that she still finds time to volunteer with us! Alicia believes The Center is very important for the community and she is thankful the fire damage to the building was minimal.

While all of us in Sonoma County try to settle in to a ‘new normal,’ we want to recognize those who continue to give, even when they are in need themselves. One thing that came through after the fires, and continues to resonate, is how important our sense of connection within our community is, and the strength and resilience we all share. If you happen to see Alicia tonight, be sure to give her a big heartfelt ‘Thank you’! We’re happy to have her as part of our family. We couldn’t do it without volunteers like Alicia. We are Your LBC.

What is YOUR Legacy? See your From where you sit, you can see your investment in the LBC investment directly and immediately. Your support makes it possible for us to in the LBC create lasting memories while we enrich, educate and entertain our audiences. Thank you!

What would you like your investment to look like years, or even decades, from now? Have you considered the LBC in your legacy plans? If you want to ensure that the LBC will continue here for future generations, consider naming the Center in your will or trust. Then, join the Lamona Johnson Walraven Legacy Society, and let us thank you now for your future investment.

To learn more, contact Robin Seltzer at 707.800.7525 or [email protected]. Lamona Johnson Walraven, a longtime Santa Rosa resident, was a high school teacher and counselor who came of age at a time when most women did not pursue higher education.

She earned a master’s degree from UC Berkeley, then shared her love for

learning with her family and students, believing that all would thrive through

the benefits of an education. Through her

bequest, Lamona left a lasting impact on

Luther Burbank Center for the Arts, with the

largest legacy gift ever received, benefitting

both girls and boys through her largesse. 64 2018 PROGRAM Luther Burbank Center for the Arts | AUGUST – OCTOBER DONORS 65
