I congratulate Al Fajer, Dubai for taking the initiative to promote the trade in the African Region thorough international exhibitions. As you are aware, India has a huge automobile industry and it contributes sub- stantially to the overall GDP of the Country! The Passenger vehicles industry posted a growth of 18% in the year 2004-05, while the commercial vehicle segment clocked a growth rate of 22%. M&HCV segment has grown by 23% whereas LCVs grew by over 21%. The performance of the automobile industry in exports is also encouraging. Commercial vehicle exports increased to an all time high of touching 30,000 growing at a rate of 72% Passenger vehicle exports grew by 29% to 166,413 units. Moreover India today has become a major sourcing point for any in- ternational automobile manufactures for spare parts! In view of this, I am not surprised to see large number of Indian Companies are participating in the Autoparts East Africa 2007. I take this opportunity to congratulate every one of you and wishing all the very best at the Autoparts East Africa 2007. H. E. P. S. Randhawa High Commissioner of India to Kenya 10 Exhibition Catalogue It gives me a great pleasure to note that the Autoparts East Africa 2007, the international exhibition for Auto parts and Ac- cessories, is being held in Nairobi during 26-28 July 2007, or- ganized by Al Fajer, Dubai. I am also very glad to learn that a sizeable number of the Chinese companies have participated in this exhibition. With a robust domestic demand driven by improved living standard, China’s auto industry is growing rapidly. Last year, China had become the second-big- gest auto market with 7 million new cars sold and the third-biggest auto manu- facturer with an annual production of 7.3 million vehicles. In the field of auto parts and accessories, the momentum of growth is also very strong. In the first quarter of this year, China’s auto part export increased to 6.1 billion US dollar by a large margin of 32.45%. It is estimated that the annual market volume of auto parts and accessories will surpass 100 billion US dollars this year. Kenya’s economy is now on the course of rapid recovery, which provides a favorable environment for the growth of auto industry. Besides bilateral trade, China is much keener to encourage the Chinese auto enterprises to invest in Kenya, cooperate with Kenyan partners in the research, design, assembly and marketing of vehicles and grow together with Kenya’s local industry. I believe this relation will not only further strengthen our economic partnership on the basis of mutual benefits but also stimulate Kenya and other African countries’ auto industry and provide more employment opportunities to the local com- munity. China also attaches great importance to cutting down car emission and energy consumption through technology innovations. We are more than willing to en- hance the bilateral technological exchanges and cooperation with Kenya and other African countries in this field so as to make contributions to the preserva- tion of environment through sustainable growth. I would like to take this opportunity to wish the exhibition all the success. H. E. John Kariuki Managing Director BOC Kenya Limited 13 Exhibition Catalogue At the outset I extend a warm welcome to all the Exhibitors and Visitors to Kenya for the Autoparts East Africa 2007 exhibition. Al Fajer is committed to promote the international trade between African Continent and the rest of the world. Having said this, I feel no better place than Kenya can be the Venue for such a gathering of international Companies. Literally, Kenya is already at the forefront of the East African Region. Indeed, the opportunities in East African Region, as a whole are unlimited, but the Suppliers have to be highly innovative and price competitive, thanks to the fierce competition in the market place. Autoparts East Africa covers entire aspects of the auto spare parts industry. Coming years, we would like to add more sectors this show, including the two wheelers! We envisage Autoparts East Africa as a significant vertical auto spare parts industry exhibition for international suppliers who wanted to break into or in- crease their market share in East African markets! We take this opportunity to thank all our Supporters and Associates, especially SEECO Kenya, for their untiring support in putting together this show for the first time in Kenya! We wish you all a successful show and look forward to have you on board again for the Autoparts East Africa 2008 Satish Khanna General Manager Al Fajer Information & Services, Dubai 14 Exhibition Catalogue List of Exhibitors A.A.
