That does not mean that people did not have art in mean a devalaya, devkula their homes at those times, but domestic dwellings and mandir, kovil, deol, the things in them were mostly made from materials like devasthanam or prasada wood and clay which have perished. This chapter introduces depending on which part of India we are in. us to many types of temples from India. Although we have focussed mostly on Hindu temples, at the end of the chapter you will find some information on major Buddhist and Jain temples too. Chatur Mukhlinga, Nachna- Kuthara (Inset) Early Temples While construction of stupas continued, Brahmanical temples and images of gods also started getting constructed. Often temples were decorated with the images of gods. Myths mentioned in the Puranas became part of narrative representation of the Brahmanical religion. Each temple had a principal image of a god. The shrines of the temples were of three kinds—(i) sandhara type (without pradikshinapatha), (ii) nirandhara type (with pradakshinapatha), and (iii) sarvatobhadra (which can be accessed from all sides). Some of the important temple sites of this period are Deogarh in Uttar Shiva temple, Nachna-Kuthara, Madhya Pradesh, fifth century CE 2021-22 70 AN INTRODUCTION TO INDIAN ART Pradesh, Eran, Nachna-Kuthara and Udaygiri near Vidisha in Madhya Pradesh.

  • COVID-19 Pandemic Booklet 14-4-2020 Part 2
Practices Compendium Series Part 2: Case Studies of Combating COVID-19 pandemic in Aspirational Districts Transformation of Aspirational Districts Programme April 2020 Why this learning compendium? We share with gratitude the first in the “Practices Learning Compendium” series, a compilation of innovative practices and processes initiated by District Administration in India’s poorest districts to Combat COVID-19. Purpose of this Learning compendium is to disseminate efforts of the administration in the Aspirational Districts integrated by Ministry of Home Affairs for learning and application in other districts and contexts. The stories have been written by Aspirational District Fellows placed in the districts. While we have made efforts to ensure that the work of the entire District team, led by the Collector, the Superintendent of Police, representatives of State and Central government and particularly the frontline health functionaries is presented accurately, there may be some inadvertent errors for which we sincerely apologise. Some stories have been written in first person account, however, in all cases it has been a solid teamwork. Our purpose to prepare this compendium was to collate and to disseminate experiences and ideas that are being implemented in real time as we rise together to defeat COVID-19. We may have erred in not giving credit to individuals or underlying numbers have become dated given the dynamic responses to the changing situation and fast response of the administration. The team of researchers at VikasAnveshFoundation responded to our request of facilitating the write-shop at a short notice. All interactions with the writers of the case studies happened on emails and phone calls.
