Europäische Stammtafeln: Tables of Contents for Volumes 1-29 Europäische Stammtafeln: Tables of Contents for volumes 1-29 By John Blythe Dobson March 2004; Last revised October 2018 These tables of contents are for the most current versions only, of volumes 1-29 of Europäische Stammtafeln. Vol. 2, vol. 3 (except the 5th part), and 4-16 , many of which are out of print) belong to the 3rd series (1978-1995). Vols. 1, 3.5, and 17-29 belong to the 4th series (1997-2013), which presumably will not be completed due to the death of the last editor, Detlev Schwennicke, in 2012. For vols. 1-23, I have rearranged the name index given for the Stammtafeln at the website of the publisher, Verlag Vittorio Klostermann, which should be consulted for details of availability and pricing. Because these tables of contents are reconstructed from an alphabetized index, in cases where more than one name is treated in the same table, our listings may not agree precisely with the manner in which the material is displayed or entitled therein. We have taken some additional information, including most of the translated titles, from John P. DuLong’s Europäische Stammtafeln notes, which give detailed overviews of the volumes, along with historical and critical remarks on the series. For vols. 24-29, I have simply copied the tables of contents given on the publisher’s website. Please note that I do not personally have access to any of these volumes, and am not in a position to answer any questions concerning their content. A few of the references given on the Klostermann website are clearly wrong (some of the table numbers are impossible for the volumes in which they are supposed to be contained) and have been marked as such, although I am unable to supply the necessary correction. The indexing of vol. 6 appears to be incomplete. • On the Historical Origins of the Heidelberg Catechism
Acta Theologica 2014 Suppl 20: 16-34 DOI: http://dx.doi.org/10.4314/actat.v20i1.2S ISSN 1015-8758 © UV/UFS <http://www.ufs.ac.za/ActaTheologica> C. Strohm ON THE HISTORICAL ORIGINS OF THE HEIDELBERG CATECHISM ABSTRACT Reflection on the origins of the Heidelberg Catechism reveals it to be a document of understanding between Calvinistic-Reformed, Zwinglian and Lutheran-Philippistic tendencies within Protestantism. One important reason for the success of the Heidelberg Catechism was the fact that each one of these groups appreciated the Catechism. At the same time it clearly distances itself from Tridentine Catholicism and from the Gnesio-Lutheran variant of Lutheranism. This occurs mainly in the doctrine of the Lord’s Supper. The repudiation of the mass as “condemnable idolatry” is a result of the orientation to the Reformation of John Calvin. Here papal religion was seen as superstition and a fundamental violation of the true worship of God as well as an infringement of God’s honour. The experience of persecution by the Papal church in France and the Netherlands aggravated the criticism. The most famous and influential part of the Heidelberg Catechism is its first question and answer: Q. What is your only comfort in life and in death? A. That I am not my own, but belong – body and soul, in life and in death – to my faithful Savior, Jesus Christ. He has fully paid for all my sins with his precious blood, and has set me free from the tyranny of the devil. He also watches over me in such a way that not a hair can fall from my head without the will of my Father in heaven; in fact, all things must work together for my salvation.

Architectural transformations on the Market Square in Krakow A systematic visual catalogue Jean-Yves BLAISE Iwona DUDEK Different faces of one ‘idea’ Section three, presents a selection of analogous examples (European public use and commercial buildings) so as to help the reader weigh to which extent the layout of Krakow’s marketplace, as well as its architectures, can be related to other sites. Market Square in Krakow is paradoxically at the same time a typical example of medieval marketplace and a unique site. But the frontline between what is common and what is unique can be seen as “somewhat fuzzy”. Among these examples readers should observe a number of unexpected similarities, as well as sharp contrasts in terms of form, usage and layout of buildings.

  • Of a Princely Court in the Burgundian Netherlands, 1467-1503 Jun
Court in the Market: The ‘Business’ of a Princely Court in the Burgundian Netherlands, 1467-1503 Jun Hee Cho Submitted in partial fulfillment of the requirements for the degree of Doctor of Philosophy in the Graduate School of Arts and Sciences COLUMBIA UNIVERSITY 2013 © 2013 Jun Hee Cho All rights reserved ABSTRACT Court in the Market: The ‘Business’ of a Princely Court in the Burgundian Netherlands, 1467-1503 Jun Hee Cho This dissertation examines the relations between court and commerce in Europe at the onset of the modern era. Focusing on one of the most powerful princely courts of the period, the court of Charles the Bold, duke of Burgundy, which ruled over one of the most advanced economic regions in Europe, the greater Low Countries, it argues that the Burgundian court was, both in its institutional operations and its cultural aspirations, a commercial enterprise. Based primarily on fiscal accounts, corroborated with court correspondence, municipal records, official chronicles, and contemporary literary sources, this dissertation argues that the court was fully engaged in the commercial economy and furthermore that the culture of the court, in enacting the ideals of a largely imaginary feudal past, was also presenting the ideals of a commercial future. It uncovers courtiers who, despite their low rank yet because of their market expertise, were close to the duke and in charge of acquiring and maintaining the material goods that made possible the pageants and ceremonies so central to the self- representation of the Burgundian court. It exposes the wider network of court officials, urban merchants and artisans who, tied by marriage and business relationships, together produced and managed the ducal liveries, jewelries, tapestries and finances that realized the splendor of the court.
