FORMATION: Large circle, all hands joined (if danced separately no partners are necessary.) 2/2 time (two walking steps or equivalent to one measure) Measure: First form 1 one step-touch to the left 2 one step-touch to the right 3 walk two steps to the left 4 as meas. 1 5 as meas. 2 6 as meas. 1 7 walk 2 steps to the right 8 1 step-close to the right. (If the second dance form follows immedi• ately, left foot just touches -- no weight on left.) Measure: Second form l Step-touch - left forward, right touch 2 11 u right backward, left touch 3 Two walking steps - left, right - to center 4 and 5 Repeat 1 and 2 6 Repeat 1 7 Two walking steps backward right, left 8 Step-close backward - right-clase. Repeat first form. HORNPIPE FORMATION: Large circle of couples, two couples dancing together, facing each other, couples 2!!!. looking in LOO couples two against LOO, Join hands in circle. 3/4 time, three steps in each measure. Measure: First dance form A l Hands stay shoulder high though they are not joined; M makes half turn backward in place, as W does same left backward. For a fleeting moment Mand W join hands (her r, his 1), and 2 dance to place he left about, she right about. 3-4 With 6 steps M circles CW, starting r backward, as W circles CCW start~ ing 1 backward. B 9-10 M cross over with three steps (pass face to face) and do 3 steps in place as W do 3 steps in place and then cross over. 11-12 Couples 1 & 2 join hands and circle CW with 6 steps (once around) 13-16 as meas. 9-12. Second dance form A 1-8 same as in 1st dance form B 9-10 Partners change places sideways - 3 steps over, 3 steps back to place, W passes in front going to other side, M passes in front returning home. 11-12 M 1 and W 2 and M 2 and W l form small circles and circle CW once around. 13-16 as 9-12. The Dunsings describe it as a party favorite in Chicago. \See Dance Lightly.) I FORMATION: Aline of 2 couples headed clockwise faces a line of two couples facing counter-clockwise (like Fireman's Dance). These sets of four couples are arranged in a large circle around the room. ACTION: A. Circle 8, 16 walking steps to the left and 16 walking steps to the right. B. Within their rows couples change sides with 4 sliding steps, then end up by pointing right toe over left foot and left over right in the new position (when going to the left).Reverse action when going to the right, pointing left toe ever right. (Pointing means to touch floor with toe beyond fooc mentioned.) NOTE ON PASSING: The original right couple passes in front of the left. Return to place with the new right couple passing in front.) NOW REPEAT SAME ACTION, but with left couples passing in front. C. Center four form riRht hand across (star) and at same time corners join hands forward. Walk first 16 steps clockwise in place, then 16 steps counter-clockwise (center with left hand star) returning to starting position. D. Four steps forward and four steps backward (hands Joined along the 2-couple rows), then forward again. Each person drops hands and passes right shoulder to right shoulder with the person in the other line of 4 facing him, to move on ahead and meet a new row. REPEAT FROM BEGINNING WITH THE NEW ROW. Steps: Change steps (step-close-step) and step-close (rock-steps) Formation: Couples in large circle, all hands around Meas. PATTERN 1-4 W with four change-steps --to the center - beginning on left foot (keep a perfect circle) 5-8 Win place - balance to left, to right, to left, to right. 9-12 M with !.2!:!!. change-steps to the center and behind their partner beginning on left foot - and with hands on Wls waist M gently pull 13-16 their partners back to place: 17-24 M turn away from partner and with 8 change-steps CCW, passed the next one, around the third W (from her right side), move to face her and bow. FACE TO FACE. Join M's right and W's left hand. 25-26 Step-close counter clockwise - swing arms forward -- Step-close clockwise 27-28 Mas above, W starts a right-about turn with forward swing and moves completing turn to Min front of her. M join hands with new partner as they do the step-close backward and all. 29-40 Repeat action of 25-28 three more times. 41-52 Waltz with new partner with a right-about-turn couple behind couple in LOD. Measures 1-4 seven steps in dance direction ( sideward) step, close, the eighth step is only a touch) 5-8 seven steps against dance direction 9-10 swing with one twostep (quick-quick -slowJto the center 11-12 swing with one twostep (quick-quick-slow) to the outside 13-16 With four steps two complete turns right around forward (one step to each measure) 17-24 The same as in 9-16. Change of partners is possible in the first four measures; men dance with seven bigger steps to the next girl in dance direction while girls dance seven small steps almost in place. With the new partner the dance is finished with measure 24. NEUDEUTSCHER German folk dance, waltz rhythm Record - EP 57605 Formation: couples in ballroom position in a big circle, men will back to the center, girls facing the center, Measures: 1-2 2 step-close steps in dance direction, one in each measure, close on count 3 3-4 2 step-close steps against dance direction Waltz right around with two complete turns 9-12 as 1-4 13-14 Waltz around one complete turn 15-16 Change pardners by turning the girl under his lifted left arm with a right turn to the next man in dance direction.
