Steve Behling Joins United Media as Managing Editor/Comics for United’s Two Syndicates
NEW YORK, April 18, 2005 – United Media Senior Vice President and General Manager Lisa Klem Wilson announced today that Steve Behling has joined United Media as Managing Editor/Comics for its syndicate division, United Feature Syndicate and Newspaper Enterprise Association. Behling comes to United from Disney Publishing Worldwide, where he was Executive Editor, Comics, Disney Adventures Magazine.
“I am delighted that Steve is joining us,” said Wilson. “He brings with him a wealth of publishing, editing, and artistic experience from Disney and Marvel. His experience comes from outside the typical newspaper environment, which will bring a new perspective to our business.”

At Disney, Behling took a lead role in the editorial and artistic direction of 14 magazines annually, with a circulation of 1.2 million readers per issue. He shaped and executed content for 10 monthly issues of Disney Adventures, edited the magazine’s monthly 20- page comic section, “The Comic Zone,” edited four quarterly magazines and managed a team of 50 freelance writers and artists, as well as comics production freelancers.
In addition, Behling is a freelance writer and he has written copy on a variety of subjects for publications including Brides Magazine, KFC, ID Software, Sega, Marvel Comics,

Behling began his career with Marvel Entertainment Group where he held positions of increasing responsibility including Associate Creative Director, Creative Services. Behling worked as a copywriter, editor, proofreader and fact-checker for Marvel Custom Comics Publishing, Licensed Publishing, Licensing, Promotions, Advertising Sales and Marketing. He holds a B.A. in Film & Television/Political Science from Tisch School of the Arts, New York University. He resides in Hoboken, N.J., where his dog, Ash, takes him for walks.
