MISS 2014 CANDIDATES HAVE UNTIL JUNE 21st TO REGISTER

Port-au-Prince, June 5th, 2014 - Young, beautiful, single and... Haitian. Young Haitian women who meet these criteria * and wish to try their luck, have until June 21st to register in order to participate in the 2014 contest. Candidates from the diaspora (USA, , Europe…) must send applications via email to be selected for an adventure that will allow them to represent Haiti through international prestigious beauty contests. The first phase of the competition has started with regional selection. In each of the 11 departments, two candidates will be selected to attend a 7 weeks training which will prepare them for the finals scheduled on September 6 in the capital Port-au-Prince. The organizing committee of Miss Haiti 2014 has received the support of the Ministry of Tourism and Creative Industries to give the event a national scale. "To present all the beauties of Haiti and also promote its women is one of the reasons why we decided to support this event which has the potential to show a different image of Haiti" said Ms. Stéphanie Balmir Villedrouin, Minister of Tourism and Creative Industries. “It is very important for us that young women from the diaspora participate in the competition. It will certainly help strengthen their pride for their country," says Anédie Azael, Miss Haiti International and former Haiti Universe, advisor for Miss Haiti 2014. The committee overseeing this new edition is composed of experts in tourism, entertainment, special events, fashion and communication. "It seemed essential to gather in this committee recognized professionals, each in its sector, to guarantee that the project will move efficiently" shares Johanne Buteau, Chair of the Executive Committee. Prior to 2010, it had been 20 years since the country had taken part in international beauty contests; Sarodj Bertin gave the kickoff by representing Haiti at (2010) and then Anédie Azael (2011), Christela Jacques (2012) and Mondiana Pierre (2013). Ketsia Iciena Lioudy has represented the country at in 2013. The winner of Miss Haiti 2014, Miss Haiti and her princesses will have as their mission to be the ambassadors of Haitian beauty outside the borders.

Miss Haiti 2014 will have the heavy responsibility to represent the country for a year through beauty contests such as Miss World, , Miss Globe, Miss Supranational, Miss Tourism Queen International, Miss Intercontinental, Miss Coffee Queen, Miss Sugar Queen, Miss Beauty of the World contest regional character. The organizing committee of Miss Haiti 2014 will select two finalists from each province and in the diaspora. The selected candidates will follow a training for 7 weeks to participate in the final. Here are the eligibility criteria : 1. Being a Haitian woman and between 18 and 25 years 2. Being single 3. Do not have children 4. Physical Criterion : Proportional weight and size. Minimum size of 1 meter 70. 5 . Having a valid Haitian passport (or be eligible to obtain it) 6.Speaking French and Creole and know the culture and history of the country 7 . Have a level of education of minimum BAC 2/High School 9. Must be available from July to September 10. Never having committed a crime or inappropriate gestures (photographs or films) 11. Pay fees of 2,000 gourdes ($ 45 USD)
