Saygılarımızla, Dear Friends of Justice and Cinema, The International Crime and Punishment Film Festival, which brings together the world of cinema and academia in pursuit of “Justice for All,” is celebrating its tenth year. In our tenth year, we continue to be inspired by the creative and free language of cinema to raise awareness among all organizations and individuals against injustices, discrimination and human rights violations in all fields. Our Festival, a justice forum for film screenings and academic presentations, continues to be a first for bringing together the legal and cinema communities, not only in Turkey but also in the world. Every year, in addition to our justice-themed film program, we address a topic related to law and justice issue with our academic program. This year’s theme is the presumption of innocence, which will be discussed under the title, “I am innocent.” The presumption of innocence, one of the cornerstones of the right to a fair trial, should be taken into account not only by judicial authorities but also by all individuals and institutions. Throughout judicial processes, accused people should not labeled as guilty by the media or any other publications. Those who have a say in the administration of the country should not make statements that publicly portray individuals as guilty in public or influence the fair trial process in any other matter. Violating the presumption of innocence by declaring individuals as guilty and presenting them as scapegoats does not only take place in courtrooms; it can happen in personal, social and political spheres of life. Accordingly, our festival communicates the protest of “I am Innocent” of all who have suffered from injustice through film screenings, “VisionIST Industry Days,” and presentations by nearly a hundred national and international academics and filmmakers, under the theme of justice. We are delighted to hold the tenth International Crime and Punishment Film Festival. We would like to express our gratitude to those supporting the festival events which will take place virtually due to the pandemic. We invite all friends of justice and cinema to share our joy by watching, listening and discussing. International Crime and Punishment Film Festival celebrates its 10th anniversary for which we had many plans and hopes. According to our plans, our friends from all over the world, who have been with us for ten years, were going to come, and we were going to take one more step together towards “A Fairer World Full of Art” under the guidance of cinema. Unfortunately, the pandemic that affected the whole world changed our plans, but it could not take our hopes away. The festival will take place online this year due to the pandemic. Like every year, eight films selected from the Turkish and World cinemas, whose main themes are justice, will compete for the Golden Scale Feature Film Award. For “Scale of Justice” section, four feature films and two documentary films will meet with the audience. All of the competition films, three feature films and two documentaries will make their premieres in Turkey,

As a ‘border practice’ that crosses and pushes boundaries, Live Art has been one of the most responsive ways in which artists have been addressing the shifting notion of borders and connected societal issues. From this perspective, the ephemerality, flexibility and resilience of Live Art become a privileged way to investigate urgent current political changes and struggles within and across borders. This Guide explores the notion of border in relation to Live Art and the works of experimental artists that have been addressing issues around physical borders, with a special focus on the current European situation and its multiple crises. The Guide includes a theoretical introduction on the relation between Live Art and social sciences’ border theories; a focus on how practitioners are responding to the current shifting European border landscapes through a series of interviews published on the blog ‘performingborders.

WHY HAVE THERE BEEN NO MEN ARTISTS? ANALYZING AWARENESS OF MASCULINITIES THROUGH THE ARTWORKS OF "MEN" ARTISTS POST 1990 IN TURKEY by ÇAĞLAR ÇETİN Submitted to the Graduate School of Arts and Social Sciences in partial fulfillment of the requirements for the degree of Master of Art Sabancı University Spring 2013 © Çağlar Çetin 2013 All Rights Reserved iii << For Gezi Park protestors >> iv ABSTRACT WHY HAVE THERE BEEN NO MEN ARTISTS? ANALYZING AWARENESS OF MASCULINITIES THROUGH THE ARTWORKS OF "MEN" ARTISTS POST 1990 IN TURKEY Çağlar Çetin Visual Arts and Visual Communication Design, M.A. Thesis, 2013 Thesis Supervisor: Assoc. Prof. Lanfranco Aceti Keywords: Gender, Masculinities, Feminism, Contemporary Art, Turkey. In parallel with feminist, LGBT and queer discussions, this research examines critical awareness of masculinities in the works of men artists in Turkish contemporary art after 1990. The research discusses criteria for critical masculinities that men artists can develop against the gender order, as well as the necessity and possibility of such an opposition. The main criteria of choosing the works of men artists, which present or do not present critical awareness of masculinities, are that these works have to have been produced and exhibited after 1990, and they discuss gender regimes through masculinities. Artworks are questioned if and how the gender order and artists' own masculinities are problematized and/or cooperation of the artists with masculine domination through their artistic visualization and conceptualization. Criticisms about the works and the statements of the artists are also referred in the examination. The thesis concerns embracing criticaly that 'men identities' are only temporarily necessary for 'men artists,' who are usually referred to as only 'artists,' unlike 'women artists.' It suggests that men should start seeking subversive strategies to transform the gender order by making their beneficiary gender visible and their agencies questionable.

Her mixed cultural heritage has affected a fearless honesty in Holland's beliefs & has provided much of the political force behind her filmmaking. Denounced by some as an anti-Semite but also honoured by Jewish associations, Holland's dissidence suggests a struggle with morality that most certainly stemmed from her parents: her mother, a Catholic, fought in the 1944 Warsaw Uprising & her father served in the Soviet Union's Red Army. Graduating from the Prague film academy in the early 1970s, she worked as an assistant director for Krzysztof Zanussi and Andrzej Wajda before starting her own directing career in the mid-'70s. Her intimate, committed & often critical work focused on both the world of art (filmmaking, theatre) & the daily grind of people in contemporary Poland. In 1981, after 2 of her key films were banned in her own country (Fever & A Lonely Woman), Holland escaped the political turmoil in Poland & went into exile in France, where she was able to continue making bold films with her trademark dark humour. Her often- gentle observations of the human condition & relationships are powerfully contrasted with an unapologetic desire to present everything as she sees it, without hesitation.

A n n a A WOMAN IS A NOMADE, Dzierżyc- A WOMAN IS AN ARTIST -Horniak A LOOK AT THE BRIDES ON TOUR BY PIPPA BACCA AND SILVIA MORO IN THE FEMINIST VIEW OF ROSI BRAIDOTTI 169 A WOMAN IS A NOMADE, A WOMAN IS AN ARTIST F Feminism is a critical and life experience of discovering new woman- based versions of existence, creation and knowledge communication – as convinces Rosi Braidotti1, one of the most significant theoretists of feminism nowadays. Her considerations on constructing subjectiv- ity of women, the key task for the feminist theory currently, focus around a metaphor (being more precise – a figure) of a nomad. The concept of nomadic subjectivity presented in her flagship workPod - mioty nomadyczne2 seems to be one of the most interesting proposals developed in the frame of the so-called third feminism wave, being at the same time the response to the crisis (death) of the subject spread by ‘male’ philosophers. I would like to use this cognitively inspiring perspective to take a closer look at the artistic project by Pippa Bacca and Silvia Moro, who in 2008 started a long journey hitchhiking from Milan to Tel Aviv with the message of peace for the visited countries affected by conflicts.Brides on tour were much talked about for a certain time – because of the tragic end of the project – mainly in Italian and Turkish media. It raised many controversies and vari- ous comments, moreover, its new context added after the death of Pippa made it become a point of reference for next artistic ventures.
