    VOLUME - 5 July 2018 The Chennai Metro Rail Limited certified with Gold Rating, under LEED 2009 for the New Construction category Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) is a forerunner in green building certification programs worldwide which was developed by U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC). LEED provides a framework to create healthy, highly efficient and cost- saving green buildings. LEED certification is a globally recognized symbol of sustainability achievement. The Admin Building-Depot for CMRL was selected by LEED under the New Construction category. The building was evaluated based on the categories of sustainable sites, water efficiency, energy and atmosphere, material and resources, indoor environment quality, innovation in design and regional priority credits. The components were evaluated on the basis of the design, construction, operation, and maintenance, which aim to make the buildings environmentally responsible and use the resources effectively. Based on this method of evaluation, the Admin Building- Depot of CMRL was awarded with 70 points out 110 points which fetched us the Gold Rating, under LEED 2009 for the New Construction. The Gold Rating, under LEED 2009 for the New Construction category was awarded to Thiru Pankaj Kumar Bhansal, I.A.S Managing Director of Chennai Metro Rail Limited by Thiru P. During the celebrations, various activities were conducted as part of creating Safety Related Awareness at CMRL Admin Building and at CMRL construction sites. Various competitions like Essay writing, Slogans, Posters, Safety workshop, safety performance etc., were conducted at CMRL project sites for contractors and at CMRL Admin Building for officials and staff to create awareness on safety issues. As part of the celebration, Safety and Health Pledge was administered by Thiru. Pradeep Yadav, I.A.S., Managing Director, CMRL to all the officials and staff at CMRL Admin Building at Koyamebdu. During the occasion, MD, CMRL delivered a special address underlining the importance of creating safety culture among the employees, achieving zero accidents, improving safety and behaviour based on safety culture etc., and also highlighted that CMRL had recently received the prestigious World Safety Organization Award from World Safety Organization. Fire Alarm Mock Drill conducted at Koyambedu Metro Station As part of observance of Safety Awareness Week, a Fire Alarm Mock Drill was conducted at Koyambedu Metro Station on 25th March 2021. All Staff (SC / Ticketing / Housekeeping / Security Staff) at Koyambedu Metro Station participated in the Mock Drill. During the Mock Drill, the participants were given handson training on operating Fire Alarm Control Panel, Manual Calling Point (MCP) operating procedure for rescuing of passengers during an emergency, different types of Fire Extinguishers, Demonstration on how to use a Fire extinguisher, Fire Hydrant were given.
