Nell'ultima prova stagionale di World Cup la pattinatrice valtellinese vince infatti i 500 metri e conquista la Coppa di specialità. Dietro di lei, ottima seconda, Martina Valcepina, per un'accoppiata vincente che non trova eguali nella storia Azzurra dello Short Track. Arianna continua, così, dopo l'oro europeo -il quarto per lei- la sua fantastica stagione, che terminerà ai primi di marzo con i Campionati Mondiali in programma a Shanghai, in Cina. Niente da fare, invece, per la staffetta femminile in finale: quinta dopo un contatto con l'Olanda e quarta nella classifica finale stagionale. La Fontana colleziona inoltre ottimi piazzamenti anche nelle altre specialità: dopo l'ottavo posto nella gara dei 1500m chiude infatti sesta nella graduatoria di specialità con due vittorie di tappa.     December 8, 2019 Shanghai, China ISU World Cup Short Track Speed Skating – Day 2 Speed queen Kim Boutin again proved why she is the skater to beat over Short Track’s shortest and wildest distance, claiming her fourth successive 500m gold on day two of the ISU World Cup in Shanghai. Such is Boutin’s raw speed over 500m this season, the Canadian could even afford to be slightly below par in China, taking the gold just ahead of Netherland’s Suzanne Schulting and Italy’s Martina Valcepina despite a performance she later described as below her best. “I’m focusing a lot on my technique and I felt my last two laps today were really bad, so I need to work on that,” she said. “I still feel like I have a lot of things to learn, and maybe that’s why I’m continuing to do well. It was the first time I’ve skated against these particular girls in a final, so it was interesting to see how they race.” Boutin is now the pre-eminent skater in Canada’s women’s team following the retirement of Marianne St Gelais, but it was not long ago she considered quitting the sport to pursue a career in children’s education. But while she still has ambitions in that field, it could be a while yet before she hangs up her skates for good. “Over the summer I questioned myself a lot,” she said. “But we changed our training a little bit to make sure I keep going to work on my skills, which helped.

    January 22, 2020 Debrecen, Hungary Hungary’s Liu brothers leading the charge for honors at ISU European Short Track Speed Skating Championships The 24th ISU European Short Track Speed Skating Championships take place from January 24-26 in Debrecen, Hungary – and the host nation will have high hopes of winning a clutch of gold medals. Budapest-born brothers Shaolin Sandor and Shaoang Liu have been among Europe’s elite racers for several years and became national heroes two seasons ago when they formed half of the 5000m Men’s Relay team – along with Viktor Knoch and Csaba Burjan – who won gold at the PyeongChang 2018 Olympic Winter Games. Hungary is a proud Olympic nation, with 178 gold medals in the summer Games – placing it ninth on the overall table – but the team’s heroics in the Republic of Korea led to the nation’s first winter gold.     March 6, 2019 Sofia, Bulgaria Sofia ready for intriguing Short Track World Championships The ISU World Short Track Speed Skating Championships – the biggest event on the sport’s calendar – take place at the Arena Armeec, Sofia, Bulgaria, from March 8 to 10. It promises to be a riveting conclusion to a season in which much dynamic new talent has emerged and the greatness of others been confirmed. At the start of the ISU World Cup Short Track season many fans wondered whether the Republic of Korea’s grip on the sport’s top prizes would continue, following an Olympic Games in which challenges from the Netherlands, China, Canada, Poland, Hungary and Italy threatened to break their dominance. The answer has been both yes and no. In the Men’s competition, Korea completed a clean sweep of winners in the individual World Cup classifications, while in the Ladies’ overall, Europeans reigned supreme. Suzanne Schulting has been the standout skater from either gender. In a sport with as many variables as Short Track, she’s been about as dominant during 2018-19as it is possible to be. The Dutch ace owned the 1000m, winning four of seven possible World Cup gold medals to claim the overall title by a mile. She also came out on top in the 1500m overall competition, after winning in both Calgary and Torino. It’ll be surprising if she doesn’t grab top slot in one distance – or both – in Sofia. The 1500m feels like the race where Schulting is more vulnerable. Second in the overall World Cup standings was Kim Ji Yoo (KOR), who has hit form recently and won the 1500m in impressive style in Dresden.

Dutch world No.1 Schulting has topped the podium at Olympic Games, World Championships and World Cups, and came to Hungary as the reigning European overall champion, but won a milestone career-first international 500m gold medal as she beat Italy’s Martina Valcepina and Natalia Maliszewska (POL) in the final. ”It’s really special,” the 22-year-old said. ”Normally it’s the 1000m and 1500m that I win and I usually just skate the 500m in tournaments like the Europeans and the Worlds, or in the World Cups just to keep it up, so I’m really happy with this. ”I was skating against the top of the world. La prima edizione del "Trofeo delle Cinque Nazioni" ebbe luogo sulle nevi di Passo Rolle, località posta a 1984 metri di altitudine di fronte alla catena settentrionale delle Pale di San Martino ed alle cime orientali dei Lagorai, in una zona notoriamente caratterizzata da un forte e prolungato innevamento. Le Fiamme Gialle conquistarono la vittoria nell'edizione d'apertura, un successo definito dal "Finanziere" di quell'epoca "Entusiasmante" grazie alla gara della pattuglia di fondo e tiro (finanzieri Faccin, Sartor, e Bruno e Giacomo Mosele). Da allora una solida tradizione è andata gradualmente sviluppandosi e perfezionandosi attraverso il contributo di tutti gli Stati che, a turno, hanno ospitato le competizioni che hanno assunto, negli anni, un rilievo quanto mai rimarchevole. La storia del Trofeo Internazionale delle Cinque Nazioni si arricchisce dal 1997 fino al 2011, anche della rappresentativa della Slovenia, entrata a pieno titolo a far parte di questa prestigiosa manifestazione per il suo vasto sviluppo del confine con Italia e Austria.
