Developed through the Forensic Architecture Project by theorist Eyal Weizman at Goldsmiths College, University of London, Forensis seeks to expand the scope of contemporary forensics to include a broader historical, theoretical, political and aesthetic context. At the heart of the book is a methodological experiment in which participating architects, artists, filmmakers, lawyers, and theorists employed new technologies and spatial research methods to investigate contemporary issues such as border regimes, urban warfare, and climate change. Investigations were undertaken in Pakistan, Palestine, the Amazon basin, Guatemala, Chile, Bangladesh, Yemen, the United States and the former Yugoslavia among others places. Evidence of state or corporate violence was unearthed for use by prosecution teams, civil society organizations, activist networks, human rights groups, and the United Nations. Innovative investigations aimed at producing new kinds of evidence in this rich collection of essays and research reports suggest many new ways that international prosecutorial teams, political organizations, -

Of mixed settler/Inuvialuit heritage, Ingniq often creates work that reflects both aspects of her cultural identity as well as broader social issues related to Indigenous people today. Often working with reclaimed or rescued materials in her art- making, Ingniq takes an intuitive and mindful approach to art. In part, this is a reactionary, conscious choice regarding the amount of rampant waste in this capitalist/consumerist society, as well as a symbolic gesture adding to the reclamation of identity. The need to create work like this is to focus on evolving activism that seeks to generate dialogue and awareness about the current and historical aspects influencing Indigenous people, as well as other groups of marginalized individuals and problems to generate opportunities for more inclusive and supportive societies. -

For the Sturgeon Upgrader air quality assessment, meteorological data for the year 2002 were used to define transport and dispersion parameters. The meteorological data from the 2002 period are compared to the longer term climate information to provide a measure of representativeness for this year. Meteorological characteristics vary with time (e.g., season and time of day) and location (e.g., height, terrain and land use). The CALMET meteorological pre-processing program was used to provide temporally and spatially varying meteorological parameters for the CALPUFF model. This appendix provides an overview of the meteorology and climate for the region as well as the technical details and options that were used for the application of the CALMET meteorological preprocessor to the Project study area. 5C.2 Study Domain The CALMET study domain adopted for the Project extends from approximately 53.3 degrees latitude in the south to 54.3 degrees latitude in the north, and from 113.9 degrees longitude in the west to 112.4 degrees longitude in the east, as shown in Figure 5C-1. The CALMET study domain includes the communities of Edmonton and Leduc towards the south of the domain, and the community of Westlock in the north. -

College life starts with introspection, as opposed to a public, collective impetus. We try to urge students to think about their place in the world and to develop a desire to participate from inside themselves. —Leon Botstein, President, Bard College The Bard College Catalogue is published by the Bard Publications Office. MUSIC + FESTIVAL 2019 THE UNIVERSITY OF ARIZONA TWELFTH ANNUAL COMPOSERS FESTIVAL OCTOBER 12-13 TUCSON, ARIZONA VarèseEdgar · AaronKernis Jay · MingusCharles COLLEGE OF FINE ARTS Fred Fox School of Music Music + Festival 2019: Edgard Varèse, Aaron Jay Kernis, Charles Mingus Twelfth Annual Composers Festival The University of Arizona Fred Fox School of Music October 12-13, 2019 The 2019 Music + Festival: Varese, Kernis, and Mingus will present the lives and music of these three composers within a rich and broad intellectual framework. The festival consists of a symposium providing the historical and artistic context in which these composers lived as well as what to listen for in this music; and four concerts: one chamber, one devoted to music of Charles Mingus, one featuring a mixture of electronic and concert music, and one including large ensembles. The festival features the faculty members and major student ensembles of the Fred Fox School of Music and guest artists and scholars. Despite his output of only slightly more than a dozen compositions, Edgard Varèse is regarded as one of the most influential musicians of the twentieth century. His concept of “organized sound” led to experiments in form and texture. He was constantly on the lookout for new sound sources, and was one of the first to extensively explore percussion, electronics, and taped sounds. He was, as Henry Miller called him, “The stratospheric Colossus of Sound.” Pulitzer Prize-winning composer Aaron Jay Kernis draws artistic inspiration from a vast and often surprising palette of sources, among them the limitless color spectrum and immense emotional tangle of the orchestra, cantorial music in its beauty and dark intensity, the roiling drama of world events, and the energy and drive of jazz and popular music. -
