Para el invierno, utilizaban telas de seda o algodón acolchados, rellenos de algodón; y en verano, confeccionaban prendas hechas con tela de cáñamo y/o ramio. Todas estas indumentarias que conservan un diseño discreto con líneas suavemente ondulantes son denominadas “hanbok” y su tradición viene manteniéndose desde hace varios milenios. Oftentimes, contemporary Korean fiction takes the reader, sometimes by force, down the dark memory lane of modern Korean history. Because so many works of contemporary Korean fiction are highly referential, the reader is often enticed to consider a text’s social and political background. While this is not a unique phenomenon to Korea—works of literature from all corners of the world often deal to greater or lesser extents with pressing political and social issues—it seems striking that Korean works of fiction so frequently draw the attention of their readers to the political and social realities being depicted, and do so in a manner that come at the expense of poetic expression. Kong Ji Yŏng’s short stories, “Human Decency” and “Dreams,” included in the collection Human Decency published by Jimoondang, are both highly referential texts. Since her works are so fraught with political and social references, this review will first examine the historical context in which Kong Ji Yŏng writes, and will then examine the stories in greater detail. In the collection of essays, Twentieth Century Korean Literature , it is noted that “an important strand of thought regarding literature in 1980s Korea was that it should interrogate social concerns and articulate communal values... the eighties were, in many ways, an era of causes.

    This period drama depicts the passionate life of General Gyebaek to show the viewers that the history has been written not by the battle cheers of the victors, but by noble values people have cherished. The drama has no intention to glorify Baekje. Nor to rewrite its suppressed history. Still, for a kingdom that lasted for 680 years, it seems right to address the falsehoods surrounding Baekje that it collapsed because of a tyrant ruler who purportedly was a drunk. The Crisis of Korea’s Traditional Folk Performance Through the generations Koreans have joyfully lived their lives with singing and dancing. While the royal court and the intellectual class considered the liberal arts such as writing poems, playing instruments and drawing pictures important, they also enjoyed the performances of professional folkentertainers as well. Commoners also enjoyed coming together to sing and dance while working and also during the season’s holidays. Passing on cultural assets that reflects a country’s native history to descendants is a very important duty. It is important to preserve and protect tangible cultural assets such as architectural works from damage. However, because traditional performing arts can only be preserved if it 1 is taught, practiced and performed in front of people, so it can be difficult to protect. The legacy of the traditional performing arts was nearly cut off as Korea entered the 20th century and was colonized by Japan for 36 years and afterwards Korea was heavily influenced by Western civilization After overcoming these difficulties Korean traditional folk performances are being continued precariously only through professional folk performers. It is now difficult to see images of a joyous community in which everyone in the neighborhood comes together singing and dancing with the sounds of drums. Korean children’s literature authors are putting all their effort into reviving Korea’s various traditional folk cultures through books. Thus, on October 2012 the author announced a children’s book titled, “Baudeogi” based on the experiences of wandering troupe made up of all males, travelling entertainers that specialize in folk performances.
