Navigation & responsive Web App changes

Huddle Global Instance: 7 November 2017 (released) | Huddle US Instance: 7 November 2017 (released)

Navigation changes

In this release we are making an important change that affects the way you navigate between and within .

What does this mean?

Your workspaces, which are currently accessed in the “global navigation” bar of Huddle at the top of the screen, will now be displayed on the left side of the screen (we call this the “navigation sidebar”). This means you will see the names of other workspaces you’re part of and be able to quickly move between them.

Once you have navigated to any given , the sub navigation for the workspace itself (Files/Folders/Tasks/People/etc) will also be displayed on the left along with the other workspaces you have access to.

New workspace navigation - interactions explained

Clicking the name of any workspace listed in the sidebar navigation panel will take you to the overview for that workspace. If the workspace overview is not enabled for the given workspace, you will be taken automatically to the next available feature (E.g. Files)

If you are a member of more than 6 workspaces, there will be a link (as shown via the annotations above) to enable you to "Show all" remaining workspaces you have access to.

Clicking the 'Workspaces' or 'Show all' link will show the full list of all workspaces you’re in and easily filter them by name (as exists on Huddle today).

You will be able to add new workspaces and invite new users from the sidebar navigation as shown below. Responsive web app changes This release will deliver another key evolution of our UX vision, making core parts of our web app 'responsive' to different screens. Applying responsive behaviour to Huddle means we are able to make full use of the screen space available on your laptop or monitor, maximising the working area and presenting content to you in an optimal way.

Small screen Medium screen Large screen

Small screens – how it will work

The contents of Huddle will expand horizontally to fill the screen. To maximise the working area of smaller screens, the navigation sidebar will be collapsed by default and can be opened by clicking the below the dashboard (home) as shown below.

Medium & large screens - how it will work

As with small screens, the contents of Huddle will expand horizontally to fill the space available on wider screens, maximising the working area as seen in the examples above. Advanced customisations & branding To support the work we are doing to release the navigation sidebar and responsive web app changes as outlined above, we are excited to announce some improvements to the advanced customisation & branding services we offer.

Utilising key assets of your brand identity, logo & primary colour, our simple yet powerful approach applies them to core elements, accents and branding areas, aligning Huddle’s interface with your branding and organisational needs.

Whether you are using Huddle as an internal collaboration tool, or working with important clients, suppliers or partners outside of your organisation, our new customisation and branding offering delivers a strong organisational presence within Huddle which is focussed on your valuable brand.

Below is a side by side example of how Huddle looks 'out of the box' vs how Huddle will look with the new custom branding modal applied to your Huddle account.

Assign to team - You can now select a whole team at once. Teams in Workspaces help you to understand who does what in project. Having the team context helps you with finding the right people to assign the request to. We also allow you to quickly assign it to the whole team.

Permissions – When assigning a request to a person/team, you now can only select teams and people that have permissions to add files to the destination folder. No more assigning requests to people that do not have permissions to upload files against the request.

Invite people from the assignee picker – This is a Huddle’s first! When assigning a request, you sometimes find out a person is not a workspace member. As a result you have to stop what you were doing (creating a request) and invite them separately.

You can now invite people to the workspace as part of the assigning flow and you can instantly assign the request to them.

Permissions info – File requests can be viewed by everybody in the workspace. Everybody in the workspace can view all request. As a result, you might see requests you don’t have upload permissions for. We now inform you when you do not have permission to upload a file to a request.
