Guía De Inmersiones De Lanzarote LANZAROTE, RESERVA DE LA BIOSFERA El 7 de octubre de 1993 Lanzarote es declarada por la UNESCO Reserva de la Biosfera, convirtiéndose en la segunda existente en Canarias. Pero la declaración de Lanzarote añade un componente novedoso: por primera vez un territorio en su conjunto, incluyendo a todos sus núcleos poblacionales, es declarado por la UNESCO como Reserva de la Biosfera. RED MUNDIAL DE RESERVAS DE BIOSFERA PRIORIDAD DEL PROGRAMA MAB Inmersiones Es un instrumento internacional para intercambiar conocimientos y experiencias. De este Dive Sites modo las Reservas de la Biosfera son lugares especiales de aprendizaje del desarrollo sostenible a escala local, nacional , regional y global. Las primeras reservas se declararon en 30 Tauchgänge 1976. La Red Mundial se incrementa cada año con nuevas solicitudes por parte de los países. A list of the marine fishes of the Azores is presented. The list is based on a review of the literature combined with an examination of selected specimens available from collections of Azorean fishes deposited in museums, including the collection of fish at the Department of Oceanography and Fisheries of the University of the Azores (Horta). Personal information collected over several years is also incorporated. The geographic area considered is the Economic Exclusive Zone of the Azores. The list is organised in Classes, Orders and Families according to Nelson (1994). The scientific names are, for the most part, those used in Fishes of the North-eastern Atlantic and the Mediterranean (FNAM) (Whitehead et al. 1989), and they are organised in alphabetical order within the families. Clofnam numbers (see Hureau & Monod 1979) are included for reference. Information is given if the species is not cited for the Azores in FNAM. Whenever available, vernacular names are presented, both in Portuguese (Azorean names) and in English. Synonyms, misspellings and misidentifications found in the literature in reference to the occurrence of species in the Azores are also quoted. The 460 species listed, belong to 142 families; 12 species are cited for the first time for the Azores.

NMFS determined that for 27 of the 81 species, including the island grouper (Mycteroperca fusca), the petition had sufficient merit for consideration and that a status review was warranted (79 FR 10104, February 24, 2014).

Seamounts are hotspots of marine life and in general they represent areas of an enhanced productivity, especially when compared with nearby abyssal areas. This EBSA has a total area of 197431 km2 with depths ranging from 25m (top of Gettysburg seamount) to 4930m (bottom of Tore seamount). The area includes a proposed Site of Community Importance - Gorringe Bank and an OSPAR High Seas Marine Protected Area – Josephine seamount. All structures included in the Madeira-Tore EBSA fulfill four or more out of the seven EBSA scientific criteria. A total of 965 species are present in this EBSA of which 7% are protected under international or regional law. Introduction (To include: feature type(s) presented, geographic description, depth range, oceanography, general information data reported, availability of models) The Madeira-Tore EBSA includes a total of 17 seamounts (Ampere, Ashton, Coral Patch (northern part of), Dragon, Erik, Gago Coutinho, Godzilla, Gorringe Bank (Ormond and Gettysburg seamounts), Hirondelle II, Josephine, Lion, Pico Pia, Tore, Seine, Sponge Bob, and Unicorn). These seamounts present particular features which make this area eligible as an EBSA when assessed against the EBSA scientific criteria. Benthic biological communities on seamounts are highly vulnerable to human activities.

Specifically, the study tested whether there are differences in the composition of fish assemblages between those ecoregions encompassed by the distribution range of C. nodosa, and whether these differences in composition are connected with differences in biocli- matic affinities of the fish faunas. A literature review resulted in a total of 19 studies, containing 22fish assemblages at 18 locations. The ichthyofauna associated with C. nodosa seagrass meadows comprises 59 families and 188 species. The western Mediterranean (WM) Sea has the highest species richness (87 species). Fish assemblages from the Macaronesia–Canary Islands, the Sahelian Upwelling, South European Atlantic Shelf and the WM differ, in terms of assemblage composition, relative to other ecoregions. In contrast, the composition of the fish fauna from the central and eastern Mediterranean overlaps.

Seamounts are hotspots of marine life and in general they represent areas of an enhanced productivity, especially when compared with nearby abyssal areas. This EBSA has a total area of 197431 km2 with depths ranging from 25m (top of Gettysburg seamount) to 4930m (bottom of Tore seamount). The area includes a proposed Site of Community Importance - Gorringe Bank and an OSPAR High Seas Marine Protected Area – Josephine seamount. All structures included in the Madeira-Tore EBSA fulfill four or more out of the seven EBSA scientific criteria. A total of 965 species are present in this EBSA of which 7% are protected under international or regional law. Introduction The Madeira-Tore EBSA includes a total of 17 seamounts (Ampere, Ashton, Coral Patch (northern part of), Dragon, Erik, Gago Coutinho, Godzilla, Gorringe Bank (Ormond and Gettysburg seamounts), Hirondelle II, Josephine, Lion, Pico Pia, Tore, Seine, Sponge Bob, and Unicorn). These seamounts present particular features which make this area eligible as an EBSA when assessed against the EBSA scientific criteria. Benthic biological communities on seamounts are highly vulnerable to human activities. Many benthic species are long-lived and slow-growing, and not resilient to human impacts.
