The 3rd European Workshop on Sea Buckthorn (EuroWorkS2014) was held in Naantali, Finland on 14th to 16th of October 2014 under the theme “Producing Sea Buckthorn of High Quality”. Conference concentrated on three topics that were recognized to be current under the theme: sea buckthorn fly, cultivation technology and standardization of sea buckthorn. A special attention was paid to sea buckthorn fly because of its rapid and destructive invasion to Europe. Protective measurements need to be studied fast to get this new pest under control. Also long-term strategies are needed in order to continue efficient berry production, also without pesti- cides. Dr. Ljubov Shamanskaja has a long research experience with sea buckthorn fly in Barnaul, Rus- sia, where the fly has been a problem over 20 years. -

Diagnosis of this genus is specified and three new species, I. apicalis sp. n., I. multiporus sp. n. and I. spinalis sp. n., are described and illustrated. The new synonymy is proposed: Ismarus halidayi Förster, 1850 = Entomius longicornis Thomson, 1858, syn. n. = Ismarus mongolicus Szabo, 1974, syn. n.; Ismarus dorsiger (Haliday, 1831) = Ismarus moravicus Ogloblin, 1925, syn. n. A key to the all Palaearctic species of Ismarus is provided. Monotypic genus Szelenyioprioides Szabo, 1974 described in the family Ismaridae is synonymized under Spilomicrus Westwood, 1832 (Diapriidae: Diapriinae); its type species is transferred in Spilomicrus, and new combination is proposed here, Spilomicrus amedialis (Szabo, 1974), comb. n. The family Ceraphronidae contains eight species and one subspecies in two genera, the family Megaspilidae four species in three genera, the family Diapriidae 48 species in 16 genera and the family Proctotrupidae three species of the genus Exallonyx KIEFFER, 1904. In addition, one species of the family Diapriidae is classified as incertae sedis. Introduction The small superfamily Ceraphronoidea contains only two families, Ceraphronidae and Megaspilidae. Both families occur in the Malagasy subregion. Species are known as parasitoids or hyperparasitoids of several insects orders (e.g. Lepidoptera, Hemiptera, Hymenoptera), but little is known about their biology. To date, eight species and one subspecies in two genera of the family Ceraphronidae have been recorded from the Malagasy subregion. -

STRIVE Report Series No. 3 Science, Technology, Research and Innovation for the Environment (STRIVE) 2007-2013 The Science, Technology, Research and Innovation for the Environment (STRIVE) programme covers the period 2007 to 2013. The Value of Parasitic The programme comprises three key measures: Sustainable Development, Cleaner Production and Hymenoptera as Indicators Environmental Technologies, and A Healthy Environment; together with two supporting measures: EPA Environmental Research Centre (ERC) and Capacity & Capability Building. The seven principal of Biological Diversity thematic areas for the programme are Climate Change; Waste, Resource Management and Chemicals; Water Quality and the Aquatic Environment; Air Quality, Atmospheric Deposition and Noise; Impacts on Biodiversity; Soils and Land-use; and Socio-economic Considerations. In addition, other emerging issues will be addressed as the need arises. The funding for the programme (approximately €100 million) comes from the Environmental Research Sub-Programme of the National Development Plan (NDP), the Inter-Departmental Committee for the Strategy for Science, Technology and Innovation (IDC-SSTI); and EPA core funding and co-funding by STRIVE economic sectors.
