The 3rd European Workshop on Sea Buckthorn (EuroWorkS2014) was held in Naantali, Finland on 14th to 16th of October 2014 under the theme “Producing Sea Buckthorn of High Quality”. Conference concentrated on three topics that were recognized to be current under the theme: sea buckthorn fly, cultivation technology and standardization of sea buckthorn. A special attention was paid to sea buckthorn fly because of its rapid and destructive invasion to Europe. Protective measurements need to be studied fast to get this new pest under control. Also long-term strategies are needed in order to continue efficient berry production, also without pesti- cides. Dr. Ljubov Shamanskaja has a long research experience with sea buckthorn fly in Barnaul, Rus- sia, where the fly has been a problem over 20 years. -

Diagnosis of this genus is specified and three new species, I. apicalis sp. n., I. multiporus sp. n. and I. spinalis sp. n., are described and illustrated. The new synonymy is proposed: Ismarus halidayi Förster, 1850 = Entomius longicornis Thomson, 1858, syn. n. = Ismarus mongolicus Szabo, 1974, syn. n.; Ismarus dorsiger (Haliday, 1831) = Ismarus moravicus Ogloblin, 1925, syn. n. A key to the all Palaearctic species of Ismarus is provided. E-mail: [email protected] Abstract Palaeocharis rex n. gen. and sp. (Eucharitidae: Eucharitinae) and Perilampus pisticus n. sp. (Perilampidae: Perilampinae) are described from Baltic amber. Perilampus renzii (Peñalver & Engel) is transferred to Torymidae: Palaeotorymus renzii n. comb. Palaeocharis is related to Psilocharis Heraty based on presence of one anellus, linear mandibular depression, dorsal axillular groove, free prepectus and a transverse row of hairs on the hypopygium. This fossil is unique in comparison with extant Chalcidoidea because there are two foretibial spurs instead of a single well- developed calcar. Perilampus pisticus is placed into the extant Perilampus micans group because the frenum and marginal rim of the scutellum are visible in dorsal view and the prepectus forms a large equilateral triangle. The phylogenetic placement of both genera is discussed based on an analysis of both a combined morphological and molecular (28S and 18S) and morphology-only matrix. Morphological characters were used from an earlier study of Eucharitidae (Heraty 2002), with some characters revised to reflect variation in Perilampinae. Baltic amber is of Eocene age, which puts the age of divergence of these families at more than 40 mya. -

Fennica 19: 86–93. Thirteen species of Xorides (Xorides) parasitizing wood-boring insects in trunks and branches of trees are reported. Three of them, X.(Xorides) pissodius Sheng & Wen sp. n. reared from Pissodes nitidus Roelofs (Curculionidae, Coleoptera) in Larix principis-rupprechtii Mayr (Pinaceae), X.(Xorides) tumidus Sheng & Wen sp. n. reared from Cerambycidae in Quercus sp. (Fagaceae) and X.(Xorides) longicaudus Sheng & Wen sp. n. are new to science. X.(Xorides) ater (Graven- horst, 1829) is a new record for China. Some new host records are provided. Previous studies have found the parasitoid wasp family Ichneumonidae (Hymenoptera) to have an exceptional latitudinal species richness gradient that peaks at mid-latitudes instead of the tropics; however, insufficient tropical sampling and species description may have biased the conclusions. It has been unclear which subfamilies might be species rich in tropical lowland rain forests. 2. This study reports the subfamily abundance composition of a large ichneumo- nid data set (>30 000 individuals in 20 subfamilies) collected by Malaise traps and insecticidal canopy fogging in Amazonian Ecuador and Peru and suggests which subfamilies would be important for future study. 3. Relative abundance data from one Peruvian site are compared to similar low- land samples from Costa Rica and Georgia (USA). 4. Contrary to a common assumption, a number of ichneumonid subfamilies are very abundant and presumably species rich in western Amazonia. Cryptinae and Or- thocentrinae are noticeably the two most abundant subfamilies, and a number of koinobiont lepidopteran parasitoids, which are generally thought to be scarce in the tropics, are also surprisingly abundant (e.g. -

E-mail: [email protected] 3corresponding author Abstract A third species of Doddifoenus Bouček (Pteromalidae: Leptofoeninae), is described from Laos and Thailand. Doddifoenus wallacei sp. n. is the first species of the genus occurring west of Wallace’s Line, and with a body length of up to 4.2 cm it is among the longest known of any chalcidoid wasp. A differential key and distribution map for the world species of Doddifoenus are given. A detailed description of the mesosoma, including external and internal features, and molecular data (D2-D5 fragments of the 28S gene) are provided to facilitate future phylogenetic analyses. The phylogenetic placement of Leptofoeninae is briefly discussed, especially with respect to the pteromalid subfamilies Pteromalinae and Cleonyminae.
