The resurrection of the Pavilion under new ownership is being lauded as a boost for local venues. Downstairs - now called Pana has opened already and will host local music every night of the week, while upstairs (simply ‘The Pav’) will open at the end of March. The Booka Brass Band has been secured to be part of what is promised to a spectacular opening weekend, the full details of which will be revealed in the coming weeks. Musically, the venue will be looked after by Edel Curtin and her team at Coughlan’s Live whose work on Douglas Street was recognised nationally when they picked up the gong for IMRO Venue of the Year 2013, their first full year in operation.
