"Ibiza" began topping Scandinavian charts thanks to an EDM remix by Norwegian duo SeeB. The dance version recently took hold in the U.S., already peaking at No. 14 on the Hot 100. The track is the #1 Most Shazamed track in Canada, and is racing up the charts at Top 40 radio. ‘At Night, Alone’ has the acoustic vibe of the original version of "Ibiza," with a handful of "bonus remixes" for his dance fans. "The first 10 songs, they're meant to be listened to as they are written — at night and alone," he said. "And the remixes after are just fun." ‘At Night, Alone’ is full of monster hit singles and is expected to be one of the breakout hit albums of the Spring/ Summer. The album continues with the bluesy “Don’t Lose Your Steam,” one of two songs that Porter wrote with his three‐year‐old son Demyan in mind. Propelled by a stomping, organ‐enhanced groove, Porter belts out encouraging lyrics about staying committed to one’s goals regardless of hardship. The other tune Porter wrote for Demyan is “Day Dream,” which features a lithe, piano‐driven beat and a breezy tenor saxophone solo as accompaniment to fanciful lyrics in which Porter observes Demyan’s vivid imagination as he plays. Take Me To The Alley is the follow‐up to 2013’s Liquid Spirit, which was awarded the Grammy for Best Jazz Vocal album. In referring to Liquid Spirit The New York Times said, “Porter [is] "a jazz singer of thrilling presence, a booming baritone with a gift for earthy refinement and soaring uplift".     NIELSEN MUSIC YEAR-END REPORT CANADA 2016 NIELSEN MUSIC YEAR-END REPORT CANADA 2016 Copyright © 2017 The Nielsen Company 1 Welcome to the annual Nielsen Music Year End Report for Canada, providing the definitive 2016 figures and charts for the music industry. And what a year it was! The year had barely begun when we were already saying goodbye to musical heroes gone far too soon. David Bowie, Leonard Cohen, Glenn Frey, Leon Russell, Maurice White, Prince, George Michael ... the list goes on. And yet, despite the sadness of these losses, there is much for the industry to celebrate. Music consumption is at an all-time high. Overall consumption of album sales, song sales and audio on-demand streaming volume is up 5% over 2015, fueled by an incredible 203% increase in on-demand audio streams, enough to offset declines in sales and return a positive year for the business. 2016 also marked the highest vinyl sales total to date. It was an incredible year for Canadian artists, at home and abroad. Eight different Canadian artists had #1 albums in 2016, led by Drake whose album Views was the biggest album of the year in Canada as well as the U.S. The Tragically Hip had two albums reach the top of the chart as well, their latest release and their 2005 best of album, and their emotional farewell concert in August was something we’ll remember for a long time. Justin Bieber, Billy Talent, Céline Dion, Shawn Mendes, Leonard Cohen and The Weeknd also spent time at #1. Break out artist Alessia Cara as well as accomplished superstar Michael Buble also enjoyed successes this year.
