Mike Posner leapt onto 2010's music scene with the catchy pop track “Cooler Than Me.” He's back on the charts with “I Took A Pill In Ibiza (SeeB Remix),” which was inspired by a drug‐fueled experience at an Avicii concert years ago.

"Ibiza" began topping Scandinavian charts thanks to an EDM remix by Norwegian duo SeeB. The dance version recently took hold in the U.S., already peaking at No. 14 on the Hot 100. The track is the #1 Most Shazamed track in Canada, and is racing up the charts at Top 40 radio.

‘At Night, Alone’ has the acoustic vibe of the original version of "Ibiza," with a handful of "bonus remixes" for his dance fans.

"The first 10 songs, they're meant to be listened to as they are written — at night and alone," he said. "And the remixes after are just fun."

‘At Night, Alone’ is full of monster hit singles and is expected to be one of the breakout hit albums of the Spring/ Summer. Mike Posner will be doing multiple massive TV appearances in support of the album, including Late Night With Jimmy Fallon on March 18th.

KEY POINTS

Take Me to the Alley opens with the anthemic “Holding On,” a song Porter co‐wrote and recorded with the U.K. electronica act Disclosure. The album continues with the bluesy “Don’t Lose Your Steam,” one of two songs that Porter wrote with his three‐year‐old son Demyan in mind. Propelled by a stomping, organ‐enhanced groove, Porter belts out encouraging lyrics about staying committed to one’s goals regardless of hardship. The other tune Porter wrote for Demyan is “Day Dream,” which features a lithe, piano‐driven beat and a breezy tenor saxophone solo as accompaniment to fanciful lyrics in which Porter observes Demyan’s vivid imagination as he plays.

Take Me To The Alley is the follow‐up to 2013’s Liquid Spirit, which was awarded the Grammy for Best Jazz Vocal album. In referring to Liquid Spirit The New York Times said, “Porter [is] "a jazz singer of thrilling presence, a booming baritone with a gift for earthy refinement and soaring uplift".

Gregory will be appearing at the Montréal Jazz Festival on June 29th and the Victoria Jazz festival July 3rd.

Tokyo Police Club are set to release the two‐part Melon Collie and the Infinite Radness EP’s on both ends of 2016 (via Dine Alone Records), the first new music since the 2014 album Forcefield that included the Top 10 Alternative singles "Hot Tonight" and "Tunnel Vision". Now ten years on from their debut EP, the Toronto four‐piece are looking back to the energy and spirit of that formative era while keeping an eye on the future. The new EP's recapture the urgency and attitude of their earliest material, all the way back to the A Lesson In Crime EP and 2008’s full‐length debut Elephant Shell. They harnessed that primal and instinctual joy to make their tightest, brightest, and certainly raddest batch of songs to date.

Ever present is the band’s good‐natured sense of humor, perhaps nowhere more clearly than in the EP’s title itself. But it’s more than just a pun or an overt nod to a formative album; it’s a reminder that Tokyo Police Club’s moment ‐ their vitality, their radness ‐ extends far beyond the now. When you start a band as a group of teenage best friends in your small Canadian hometown, it’s hard to imagine that a decade later you're still touring the world, playing shows to legions of fans, putting out a steady stream of acclaimed albums, garnering JUNO Award nominations and performing on the Late Show With David Letterman (three times!). “if people hear ‘Not My Girl’ and feel like they were meeting an old friend again ‐ like it was taking them back ‐ that would make me happy” says Monks. Regarding the making of ANDY BLACK's debut CD, Biersack told U.K.'s Kerrang! magazine: "It's completely different, very unlike my entire career, which has been spent in a collaborative effort with four other individuals. There's also a precedent when it comes to making a BLACK VEIL BRIDES record. At this point now, this is our fifth record that we're making — and that's not to say that we go in with a cookie-cutter approach, but we certainly know stylistically what we like. The odd thing about the solo record was there was no precedent."

Asked what ANDY BLACK sounds like, Biersack said: "I think my intention for this was to go as far in the other direction as possible. Sonically, the goal was to really play with music and a lot of different stuff, to have a lot of odd instrumentation and to have a lot of programmed stuff, keyboards and more classic, almost pop-rock guitar. It's more U2 than MEGADETH. There are no guitar solos on the record. There's a lot of drumming styles; there's some weird sleigh bells. It was about playing with music and seeing what happened. We came up with something in the vein of stuff I love — U2, Adam Ant… It's somewere between Springsteen, new romantic and modern goth- pop music."

Biersack previously described ANDY BLACK as a "fun and artistic way for me to try something that musically I wouldn't want to force into BLACK VEIL BRIDES."

The singer said that when he informed his bandmates about the project, "I made it very clear… it was a passion project on the side, and everybody in the band gets it."

Don’t Lose Your Steam Hold On

Key Points:

Take Me to the Alley opens with the anthemic “Holding On,” a song Porter co‐wrote and recorded with the U.K. electronica act Disclosure. The album continues with the bluesy “Don’t Lose Your Steam,” one of two songs that Porter wrote with his three‐year‐old son Demyan in mind. Propelled by a stomping, organ‐enhanced groove, Porter belts out encouraging lyrics about staying committed to one’s goals regardless of hardship. The other tune Porter wrote for Demyan is “Day Dream,” which features a lithe, piano‐driven beat and a breezy tenor saxophone solo as accompaniment to fanciful lyrics in which Porter observes Demyan’s vivid imagination as he plays.

Take Me To The Alley is the follow‐up to 2013’s Liquid Spirit, which was awarded the Grammy for Best Jazz Vocal album. In referring to Liquid Spirit The New York Times said, “Porter [is] "a jazz singer of thrilling presence, a booming baritone with a gift for earthy refinement and soaring uplift".

Gregory will be appearing at the Montréal Jazz Festival on June 29th and the Victoria Jazz festival July 3rd.

The New York Times has praised violinist Miranda Cuckson’s undeniable musicality, while Gramophone has declared her an artist to be reckoned with. Born in Australia and educated in America, she makes her ECM New Series debut alongside pianist Blair McMillen with three 20th-century milestones: Hungarian Bela Bartok and his Violin Sonata No. 2 (1922), the Russian Alfred Schnittke’s Violin Sonata No. 2 Quasi una Sonata (1968) and the Pole, Witold Lutoslawski’s Partita for Violin and Piano (1984).

Bringing these great Slavic composers together enables us to hear each dealing with the dichotomies of form and spontaneity, playfulness and seriousness, folk expression and abstraction, Cuckson explains. The colors and traits of Slavic ethnic music are vibrantly in the foreground in Bartok’s music, more abstract in the Schnittke and Lutoslawski. Humor is a tool of provocation and survival in Schnittke and to some extent Lutoslawski, a cheeky attitude anchored by deep purpose. In Bartok, the boisterousness and teasing charm of folk dances gives way to moods of profound melancholy.

There is a lot of history concentrated in Jack DeJohnette’s adventurous new trio. Fifty years ago, as a guest with John Coltrane’s group, Jack DeJohnette played with the father’s of Ravi Coltrane and Matthew Garrison, and the program of In Movement opens with Coltrane’s harrowing and still pertinent elegy Alabama.

Other covers include the classic Blue In Green by Miles Davis and Bill Evans (Jack is one of the few musicians to have played in the bands of both men) and Serpentine Fire, from the songbook of Earth, Wind and Fire, a tribute to Maurice White - who also collaborated with Jack in the early years.

One of the un-categorizable greats, Kikuchi occupied his own musical universe and in his final years was quietly and systematically severing his ties to jazz, drifting instead toward what he called - floating sound and harmonies, - introspective and poetic improvisations. Song forms still sometimes materialized. Kikuchi revisits Little Abi, a ballad for his daughter, which the pianist once recorded with Elvin Jones. KEY POINTS

Zehetmair’s insightful approach to Robert Schumann has already been demonstrated on ECM New Series with the Zehetmair Quartet, whose recording of two Schumann string quartets won prizes including the Gramophone Award as Album of the Year in 2003.

The composition of the Symphony no. 1 Spring (1841) drew inspiration from Schuberts 9th Symphony and from the poetry of Adolf Böttger. The Phantasie and the Violin Concerto (both 1853) had quite different fates. The Phantasie was premiered to huge acclaim after initial performances. The Violin Concerto had to wait more than 80 years for its premiere, and too often since then players have made adjustments to the violin part.
