There were four divisions with a range of players from very experienced to some players with zero points and playing in their first red point event. The bridge was beautifully organised by Bruce Penhey with the help of his wife Harriette who caddied. The weather on the Saturday was perfect and it was very enjoyable in between breaks soaking up the lovely country environment. The food was also a highlight with good country cooking available all day. Our ANZAC Pairs competition was held on 4 May The many prize winners are listed below with the 2019. This event was won by Laurel Lander and overall winners on the day being Robert Stick and Se-Moi Loh. Colin Payne from the Denmark club. Second overall were Ken Else and Kay Thompson for Albany. While the last couple of months have been relativity quiet, we have welcomed a number of new members and visitors. Proving popular are our new Sunday afternoons sessions. They are held on Division 3 (50 – 300 points) 1st Betty Campbell and the first Sunday of the month and are open to all. Ann Oldfield Numbers to date have been with popularity 2ndThanga Prathalingam and Olga Sheppard predicted to increase as the cooler weather bites. Division 4 (under 50 points) 1st Malcolm Wornum The TBIB Mixed Pairs was held on 10 and 17 April and Anne WaKelin 2019 2nd Gavin Dear and Stefania Gisladottir Northern District Bridge Club From Anne Hooper The Club Pairs Red Point, which was directed by Peter Wilson, was held on Monday 13 May 2019. Coming in first were Ken and Barbara Partridge and Lyn Fakira and Trevor Peters. Well done everyone. John looked resplendent, in casual dress with jacket and tie, military medals and his green beret, Club members Andrew Wates and Diane Wates a symbol of the Commandos word wide. John had were the E/W winners. spent 14 years in the Royal Marine Commandos. The medals represent active service in Aden, Borneo and Northern Ireland. He also earned a West Australian Bridge Club long service medal for 15 years in the Royal Australian Navy and an Australian Medal. We started with a wonderful cold lunch at midday followed by bridge Tournament Committee and ended the day with wine and cheese. Not to forget the Christmas hamper Partnership Coordinator raffle, won by Sue Lissiman. These events cannot happen without planning and preparation both before and on the day. Our thanks go to: Darrell who Bridge Togetherness initially organised the catering by Don who provided a delicious meal. Wilma coordinated the day and set out the seating plan and tables with their Future Events decorations. Jenny, who is always standing by to help wherever needed. This year Kings has become our major sponsor through providing our personal scorers and advertising in our program. This is a new venture and is naturally subject to results. Formally classified Restricted, this event is restricted to players holding less than 100 Masterpoints and is designed as an introduction to this form of competition. Swiss Pairs are certainly growing in popularity and always provide a fun competition. This year we fielded 25 tables including, most pleasingly, 4 youth players. After the first round, and for the remainder of the morning, table1 became the preserve of Mira Erskine and Barbara Pritchett. A creditable result as they had met for the first time literally as play began! This was a departure from previous years, when 20 teams fronted up for the fi rst knockout round. It was changed so the fi nal could be completed by Sunday night, instead of the traditional Monday.
