JOB DESCRIPTION Job Title: Family Worker Lay Employee in the Methodist Church Location: Newton Way, Baildon, Shipley, BD17 5NH Responsible to: The Family worker will be employed by the Baildon Methodist Church Council and responsible to a Line Manager, designated from within a Support Group, who will be delegated to deal with employment issues and conduct an annual review . Aim To maximise the involvement of families in the life of the church and to develop activities which meet their needs and interests. Main Responsibilities

 To ensure the continuation and development of “See and Know” on Friday mornings. To lead this group, creating a meeting for parents and toddlers infused with the inclusive and loving values of Christianity. To recruit and support volunteers as necessary.  To recruit and support volunteers to ensure the continuation and development of “Bumps and Babes” on Monday mornings as a meeting place infused with the inclusive and loving values of Christianity for parents and infants.  To develop further family activities in the Church.  To network with all those providing activities for young people at Baildon Methodist Church, providing support and sharing ideas.  To be involved with the four o’clock services on the first Sunday of the month wherever possible. To take such part in the services as appropriate.  To develop a database of email and mobile contacts with families to enable dissemination of information about family activities within the church.  To alert the Support group to any development opportunities.  Meet with external advisors such as The Pre-School Learning Alliance' to improve the quality of provision and safety for children within the groups.

Any other duties and responsibilities, identified by the delegated Support Group on behalf of the Church Council. Terms and conditions  Terms of appointment: Permanent  The salary scale will be £4000 per annum.  Normal working pattern: 12 hours per week – Monday and Friday mornings and should be involved with some services of worship on Sundays.  Opportunities for study and for training.  25 days’ annual leave plus statutory days’ entitlement per year (pro-rata for part-time Workers).  Appointment will be subject to a satisfactory Enhanced Disclosure & Debarring Service (DBS) disclosure.  Appointment will be subject to satisfactory references  Appointment will be subject to the satisfactory completion of three-months’ probationary period. Employment structure The person appointed will be responsible to, and supported by, a Support Group which will include the Lay Pastor, nominated by the Church Council.
