The Power Project - Kliptown United

About Us: This is an opportunity to present: The Power Project - Kliptown United; the project was established on the 17th of June 2019 with the prospect to function as a nonprofit organisation. Fundamentally we are individuals from different backgrounds, countries, cultures, with diverse frames of references, and socio- economic standings. We have come together to unite under the umbrella of basic human rights, conditions and dignity. We are inspired by the direction taken by the international community (countries and organisations alike), our world travel and by the fourth industrial revolution that is currently a buzz in South . Furthermore, we are inspired by world history, the very same history that shows us the power of unity, commitment and tolerance for one another. We have come together to create a legacy project that will live long beyond any of us as the founding members, a project that will keep the legacy of our ancient leaders alive such as the likes of ; but most importantly a project that will impact the lives of many people positively. As the founding members of the project we are citizens from , Germany and and willing to open the door to many others. With respect we feel that political engagement has reached its limits. As members of the human race we cannot kindly wait and hope for the next election round. Though our politicians have commitment and resources to assist society they sadly do not have enough time, resources, and personnel to execute all these challenges. Thus, as world citizens we have to take charge and ownership of our own destinies. We must now give place to citizen initiatives and show how powerful we can be when united. We bring different expertise and talents when we come together. The Squatter-camp Narrative: We start in Kliptown the home of the (the Freedom Charter was signed and adopted on the 26th of June 1955); which forms the basis of South Africa’s constitution. Kliptown is a place of contrast and gross inequalities which is divided by the railway line and where one side has a very rich cultural history which is marked by the of Dedication, vigorous business activity and the impressive Hotel in the area. The other side of Kliptown is dominated by squatter-camps, no access to electricity, no proper running water, no schools, youth unemployment, teenage pregnancy, drug abuse, violence, women abuse, crime and no suitable sanitation. Furthermore, the Kliptown community resembles other like squatter-camps and neighborhoods including but not limited to the Alexandra Township in its nature and contrast. These similarities lead us to what we call the Squatter-camp Narrative. This is where we link townships that are alike through the initiative in Kliptown and we seek to implement the very same project in these townships as well. This is where our project begins: The Power Project - Kliptown United.

EXECUTIVE SUMMMARY About the Project: The Power Project - Kliptown United plans to assist disadvantaged communities to get access to reliable and sustainable electricity through means of alternative energy which is our founding principle. These are communities and neighborhoods that have never had electricity and these are people that cannot afford this basic need and to stay on the grid. By virtue of assisting these communities attain this milestone in their lives we would have managed to add value to their lives and improve their standard of living.

The project aims to:  Restore human dignity by proving a basic service i.e. electricity, proper household isolation etc…

 Help the Young Generation remember their identity

 Create a link between the old and new generation

 Create an educational platform Project Summary:

Project Plan: Business Model: Our target is to reach a population with no resources. Therefore, a donation business model should be the starting point of our approach. Project Funding:

 Identify Fund Raising Community (TARGET) The in-principle philosophy is to convince the African community to commit and take ownership. Developing Africa from the African Diaspora.

EXECUTIVE SUMMMARY The community to whom we shall attract attention is the following:

- Local: Soweto and Alexandra community.

- Regional: including expatriate community.

- National: South African citizens + expatriate community.

- Continental: South African Diaspora + African community + expatriate community.

- International: South African Diaspora + African Diaspora + International community.

 How to capture funds: Create an App easy to use and develop a wide and international audience

 How to secure funds: Create Escrow account where money captured will be secured and reinvested with transparency e.g. (EUR 1 = 1 Identified item).

 Fund-Raising- IDENTIFY CAPEX 1. We must define how much money we need for one household (cost analysis).

2. We must define how many households we want to target as per following philosophy:

a. Phase 1: Pilot project to test (x households).

b. Phase 2: Expand the pilot to larger neighborhoods (xx households).

c. Phase 3: Generalise the approach to all households (xxx households).

Pilot Project: Let us identify one home where people have almost nothing and where electricity can give almost everything. Access to electricity = Light bulbs + electrical cable to give Access to TV, Radio, Internet charger for telephones and therefore access to education, information, culture, telecommunications, but as well cooling for food and water, security (electrical fence charger) etc... One simple home that can be the pilot for all similar homes in Soweto. The Technology: Renewable, maintenance free, robust, safe, expandable through batteries, plug & play, off-Grid, easy to install and to deploy. Technology that we can price and market easily to the charity and donation communities. Package to be further defined but which could be as per following link: https://suncrafter.org/ On top of electricity, and as we are touching the households, we could extend the Electricity concept to Isolation concept to fight against rain, hot and cold temperatures.
