Date of commissioning – 8th April 2015 • KSCA self-funded this project at a cost of Rs 3.8 crores – Executed by MROTEK • Besides the Flood Lights, every other utility requiring power uses Solar Energy at the stadium • Net Metering policy arrangement with BESCOM was undertaken, through which excess solar power is sold to BESCOM @ Rs 9.56 per unit.
GW-KSCA-Intersolar 01/05/2017 9 Solar project - specifications
• Modules specifications: 300 Wp, Poly-crystalline, 72 cells, 1422 No’s • Solar Inverter – 20kW, 20 No’s, Grid-Tie Inverters • No storage batteries • Monitoring mechanism: Through SCADA capable of monitoring inputs from weather station, inverter monitoring system, module cleaning system and fire safety system
GW-KSCA-Intersolar 01/05/2017 10 Solar project – Unique features wrt cricket stadiums
• The modules have additional protection – toughened glass to avoid easy breakage due to ‘sixers’ • Provision for water at the roof top for cleaning • Transmission cables to the transformers are completely cased – for safety reasons • Shading due to Flood light masts evaluated • Additional down-comers for rain water drainage • Access to the roof top is controlled
GW-KSCA-Intersolar 01/05/2017 11 GIZ support for the project GIZ supported M. Chinnaswamy stadium to adopt sustainable measures by - Conducting structural feasibility study Providing a preliminary solar feasibility report Detailed plan for rain water harvesting Capacity Building for staff for waste water management and Solid Waste Management Promotion of good sanitation practices for under privileged children by organising slum cricket training camps
GW-KSCA-Intersolar 01/05/2017 12 Other Green Wicket themes implemented to make the stadium ‘Green’ • Rain water harvesting system (35 million litres of rainwater every year) • Solid waste management – Bio-gas plant – 500 Kg capacity • Waste water recycling plant/ STP – 200 KLD
