Do you know of something happening in your area that may be of interest to other P-nuts? Please send the details to the Editor . Bulletin Board Letter to the Editor I wish to express my DEEP CONCERN about the committee’s negative views on the colour Spanish Olive in P76 vehicles. Ok on first viewing a Spanish Olive vehicle I felt a bit nauseous, but the colour grows on you a bit like mould or a virus. Now I am a convert, rejoicing in the colours subtle hues. The name itself reminds one of strolling through an olive grove in Spain and transports the owner to such far off places. I would also like to complain bitterly about your comment about my super in deluxe clothing!!! The car is not confused (maybe the owner), it is just undergoing a gender re- assignment!! Please be a bit more sensitive in the future!! Mick Clarke New Member Welcome On behalf of the club I would like to welcome back Carl Cool Bro Oberhauser to membership. Carl was formerly a Northern Territorial member of the Victorian Club before going “Walkabout”. Carl has resurfaced in Melbourne and has just purchased a Home on the Orange Executive from former member Lawrence Spiteri. I guess we will be hearing more about Carls escapades in future ABA; he is a self confessed rev head, fearless formulae Commodore race driver, classic P76 convert enthusiast and Ocker. Carl tells me he is determined to build a P76 Race car and does admit to a liking for Ballet. I should be able to milk a few good stories from this bloke!!!!! On Ya Carl. The British Motor Corporation (Australia), released the Austin 1800 onto the local 30YEARSOFTRE market on the 22nd November 1965, just thirteen months after the model's release in the UK. During the extra months develop AUSTIN 1800 ment, various modifications were made to the car. These modifications were later to be incorporated into the UK models. The 1800 soon became a popular car, even being voted the Modern Motor's best compact of the year, in fact the interior space inside the car still leaves almost all other cars far behind (with the exception of Rollers etc). In Australia approximately 60,000 Austin 1800 were produced. The Austin 1800 had various rallying success in its time including a win in the Southern Cross Rally (1969), and coming second (beating Falcon GT's and Porsche), and sixth, in the 1968 London to Sydney A rare care in Australia is this Austin 3 litre, a large car with 6 cylinder conventional drive using the Marathon. • 2008 10 Magazine
Anything But Average October 2008 VOL 26 EDITION 333 Official Publication of the P76 Owners Club of Victoria Inc. Editorial I can’t believe how quickly this year is passing by. There’s only about 10 weeks until Christmas and (all going well) 10 weeks until David and I will be visited by the stork. It’s all going really well for me so far - not too many complaints. We went to an ante- natal class recently which was really interesting. Next week we’re off to Queensland to visit my uncles farm in Miles. He’s a mad Jeep enthusiast and I’m sure we will have plenty of stories and photos to bring back. David and I held the annual Bathurst BBQ last weekend. I say BBQ, but this year we had a spit roast which went really well, although there was a very smoky start! It was a beautiful spring day which meant we could enjoy the race outside and take in a few rays. Overall it was a really great day but a real shame as not one P76 club member attended this year. Though we don’t usually get many members attending, in the past there have been enough to make it worthwhile to continue holding it as a club event. Unfortunately, I think this will be the last. The other event we attended this month was P’s on Tour (in Gippsland). John did a really great job organising this event, especially given the short notice and we had a fantastic time. Though it was disappointing that none of our members joined us for the drive to Maffra.

  • February 2016 Newsletter
NEWSLETTER February 2015 Official Newsletter of the Austin Seven Register of Qld. Inc. (formed 1967) THE EDITOR’S BIT Welcome to 2016! Scary how time seems to accelerate the older you are. But more importantly most of our Austin 7’s are now over 80 years old, some of the oldest around the 90 year mark. That makes me wonder what sort of state our club will be in 2022 when we celebrate 100 years of the Austin Seven, Probably pretty much the same but a little slower, perhaps? Maybe even much the same committee at the helm? We are very lucky at the moment as so many new parts are still available, tyres (for most) are available at a reasonable cost and there are so many great rallies and events to attend, both run by our club and others throughout Queensland and across the borders in NSW and Victoria and South Australia and Western Australia where our sister Austin Seven Clubs are also thriving. Our headline feature photo this issue is Justin McKeering in his 1929 Chummy arriving at Ormiston for the Australia Day Breakfast Run. Justin treats his Austin like a second car and enjoys driving it across and around Brisbane. His father Brian McKeering rebuilt the car many years ago, I believe it belonged to Lindsay Corban before then, but that was probably well before I joined the club in 1976! I would like to thank the contributions to this newsletter, Neil & Karyn, John and Mike for the rally reports and up and coming events, Robyn for her minutes, Ray for some great photos at Ormiston, and all the rest of you who have sent me snippets of news and pictures, and adverts for Austins and parts.
