30Yearsoftre Austin 1800
The British Motor Corporation (Australia), released the Austin 1800 onto the local 30YEARSOFTRE market on the 22nd November 1965, just thirteen months after the model's release in the UK. During the extra months develop AUSTIN 1800 ment, various modifications were made to the car. These modifications were later to be incorporated into the UK models. The 1800 soon became a popular car, even being voted the Modern Motor's best compact of the year, in fact the interior space inside the car still leaves almost all other cars far behind (with the exception of Rollers etc). In Australia approximately 60,000 Austin 1800 were produced. The Austin 1800 had various rallying success in its time including a win in the Southern Cross Rally (1969), and coming second (beating Falcon GT's and Porsche), and sixth, in the 1968 London to Sydney A rare care in Australia is this Austin 3 litre, a large car with 6 cylinder conventional drive using the Marathon. Automatic versions of the 1800 1800 body. It was only built in England for 8 months. The car pictured was shipped to Adelaide. On were released in February 1968 followed by the right, a British 1800. M. J. Foster sent us this picture (see RC#53 letters). He was from Essex in England. The Austin 3 litre built in 1967-8 was not a popular car. A 2200cc transverse OHC six car a utility version in July of the same year. was produced in the UK in 72 (similar to Kimberly Tasman in Australia) and was more widely accepted Later in the same year (Oct.) the Mk II sedan there. -

2008 10 Magazine
Anything But Average October 2008 VOL 26 EDITION 333 Official Publication of the P76 Owners Club of Victoria Inc. Editorial I can’t believe how quickly this year is passing by. There’s only about 10 weeks until Christmas and (all going well) 10 weeks until David and I will be visited by the stork. It’s all going really well for me so far - not too many complaints. We went to an ante- natal class recently which was really interesting. Next week we’re off to Queensland to visit my uncles farm in Miles. He’s a mad Jeep enthusiast and I’m sure we will have plenty of stories and photos to bring back. David and I held the annual Bathurst BBQ last weekend. I say BBQ, but this year we had a spit roast which went really well, although there was a very smoky start! It was a beautiful spring day which meant we could enjoy the race outside and take in a few rays. Overall it was a really great day but a real shame as not one P76 club member attended this year. Though we don’t usually get many members attending, in the past there have been enough to make it worthwhile to continue holding it as a club event. Unfortunately, I think this will be the last. The other event we attended this month was P’s on Tour (in Gippsland). John did a really great job organising this event, especially given the short notice and we had a fantastic time. Though it was disappointing that none of our members joined us for the drive to Maffra. -

Manawatu Car Club Inc Magazine December 2020
B Manawatu Car Club Inc Magazine December 2020 Page 1 of 52 EDITORSPEAK… email: [email protected] November has been hectic, from both a personal and work view, so I can only apologize that the magazine is a little later than usual. It is my fault entirely. The stress involved with finally selling our property in Auckland and organizing making the big move back to the Manawatu happen at the end of November (without a home to go to as I write) has just added to the pressure of being busy at work. I didn’t realize just how much “stuff” we had accumulated, all of which needed to be moved somewhere, although a very thorough cull went on and rest assured most of it wasn’t car related!! Plus, we have been trying to work out how to deal with the animals which we want to bring down. Add in some rather awkward buyers and the stress levels have been pretty high. Uncertainty ahead, hell no, only opportunities if I can open my eyes wide enough to see them!! Although I worked at the yard the weekend of the MG Classic meeting, I did make it over to the circuit on Sunday (my first time at this meeting for some years) to support Ian who was racing his XR8. And what a great meeting it was. Beautiful weather, a huge grid of Central Muscle cars, in fact BIG grids in every class, and superb racing, with MCC members featuring prominently. There are certainly some stunning race cars out there and even a wander through the carpark found some gems.
