• Fr. Perozich Comments — If I Were to Wish To
Fr. Perozich comments — If I were to wish to exert my own will over the Catholic Church rather than to continue to promote Jesus Christ’s sacrifice for our salvation from sin, death, and isolation for goodness, eternal life, and communion with God and one another, I would be astute in my approach. I would allow interviews with non believers to report what I said so that I would have deniability. I would put into power others of like mind to be heralds of my beliefs. I would caution on synods of particular churches, but not prohibit them in order to allow their teachings in accord with my own to come to the larger forum. I would use new language and meaning of “ starting from the pastoral situation” in which people live their lives be it good or bad, “discerning spirits”, “truth through discourse”, and the idea that what is decided locally could influence Rome. I would have my forgone conclusions ready to be presented for discussion and for the final document. The Catholic Church from the apostles did start with the “pastoral situation”, of people who were like sheep without a shepherd. The people were given clear teaching on living the commandments, not to break one of the least of them Mt. 5:19, to be baptized Jn 3:5, to eat the flesh and drink the blood of Jesus Jn 6:51-58, and to do the Father’s will Jn 14:23. Through the apostle John they were told not to trust any spirit 1 Jn 4, and through Paul to the Galatians 1 not to accept any other gospel.

St Columba’s Cathedral in Oban was filled to capacity on the evening of February 18 for the consecration of Bishop Brian McGee by Archbishop Leo Cushley, Bishop Joseph Toal and Bishop John Keenan. “Fr Brian is being sent to you, my dear brothers and sisters, precisely to preach the Good News to the poor, to bind up hearts that are broken, anointed as he will shortly be, by the Gift of the Spirit and commissioned by God’s Church to serve you,” Archbishop Cushley said in the presence of Bishop Toal, whom Bishop McGee follows as diocesan bishop, and Bishop Keenan, ‘up until now my boss,’ according to the new bishop who was vicar general in Paisley. The Archbishop of St Andrews and Edinburgh and the bishops of Motherwell and Paisley were joined at the celebration by the Apostolic Nuncio Archbishop Antonio Mennini; Cardinal Sean Brady of Ireland; their brother bishops in Scotland, including Bishops’ Conference President Archbishop Philip Tartaglia; the clergy and parishioners of the geographically large Argyll and the Isles Diocese; and the families of the diocese’s bishops, past and present.

  • 'War Is in the Air'
‘War is in the air’ They danced in the streets, in restaurants, everywhere, to the tune of “Love is in the air” at the news that the majority Australians voted for “marriage equality” for homosexuals. This is the latest in a chain of countries that have gone this way, all of them western nations, and all of them nominally Judeo-Christian. How has it come to this? How have the countries that benefitted from God’s greatest blessings turned against Him and gone to His Adversary’s way of life so remorselessly, and uncaring for the consequences? Even God is asking this question. Jer 2:4 Hear the word of the LORD, O house of Jacob and all the families of the house of Israel. Jer 2:5 Thus says the LORD: "What injustice have your fathers found in Me, that they have gone far from Me, Have followed idols, and have become idolaters? Jer 2:6 Neither did they say, 'Where is the LORD, Who brought us up out of the land of Egypt, Who led us through the wilderness, Through a land of deserts and pits, Through a land of drought and the shadow of death, Through a land that no one crossed And where no one dwelt?' Jer 2:7 I brought you into a bountiful country, To eat its fruit and its goodness. But when you entered, you defiled My land And made My heritage an abomination. Jer 2:8 The priests did not say, 'Where is the LORD?' And those who handle the law did not know Me; The rulers also transgressed against Me; The prophets prophesied by Baal [Satan], And walked after things that do not profit.
