Match background • San Marino lost both of their previous games against Lithuania without scoring. • The sides were paired in 2006 FIFA World Cup qualifying. Algimantas Liubinskas's Lithuania beat Giampaolo Mazza's San Marino 4-0 in the sides' first meeting, in Kaunas on 9 September 2004. Edgaras Jankauskas (18, 50), Tomas Danilevičus (65) and Andrius Gedgaudas (90+2) were all on target. • The return leg in Serravalle on 17 November the same year was much tighter, Deividas Česnauskis (42) scoring the only goal as Lithuania won 1-0. • In seven UEFA age-group meetings with Lithuania, San Marino's record is W0 D1 L6. However, four of those wins were by one-goal margins; most recently, Lithuania won 2-1 at home and 1-0 in Serravalle in qualifying for the 2015 UEFA European Under-21 Championship. 3 San Marino - Lithuania Monday 8 September 2014 - 20.45CET (20.45 local time) Match press kit San Marino Stadium, Serravalle Squad list San Marino Current season Overall Qual. Igoris Pankratjevas Date of birth: 9 August 1964 Nationality: Lithuanian Playing career: FK Kelininkas Kaunas, FK Atlantas, VMFD Žalgiris, SC Westfalia Herne, KSV Hessen Kassel, FC Dinamo Moskva, FC Dynamo Kyiv, FK Lietuvos Makabi, FC Nyva Borysfen, FC Šiauliai, FC Zorya Luhansk (twice), FC Podillya Khmelnytskyi, FC Nyva Ternopil Coaching career: FK Inkaras Kaunas, FK Atlantas, FBK Kaunas, VMFD Žalgiris (twice), Lithuania Under-21s, FK Sūduva, FK Standard Sumqayıt • A towering midfielder, Pankratjevas started his playing days at home-town team Kelininkas, before a short spell at Atlantas followed by a move to Žalgiris. • Spent six seasons with Žalgiris and played in the 1988/89 UEFA Cup – the first time a Lithuanian club had been involved in UEFA competition. • After brief stints in Germany and Russia, Pankratjevas eventually settled in Ukraine. First signed for Dynamo Kyiv before playing periods with four other sides, ending his career at Zorya. Earned four international caps. • Began his coaching life with Inkaras, before returning to former teams Atlantas, Kaunas, Žalgiris and Sūduva. Won the Lithuanian Cup with Atlantas and Kaunas, and was named club coach of the year in 2010 during his second Žalgiris tenure. • Took over the Lithuania U21s in 2007 and five years later was appointed assistant to senior coach Csaba László. Named caretaker boss in September 2013 and received a permanent deal three months later.
