San Marino have drawn a blank in both of their previous meetings with Lithuania, but narrow defeats in recent Under- 21 fixtures suggest their UEFA EURO 2016 Group E encounter could be a close-run thing. Match background • San Marino lost both of their previous games against Lithuania without scoring. • The sides were paired in 2006 FIFA World Cup qualifying. Algimantas Liubinskas's Lithuania beat Giampaolo Mazza's San Marino 4-0 in the sides' first meeting, in Kaunas on 9 September 2004. (18, 50), Tomas Danilevičus (65) and Andrius Gedgaudas (90+2) were all on target. • The return leg in Serravalle on 17 November the same year was much tighter, Deividas Česnauskis (42) scoring the only goal as Lithuania won 1-0. • In seven UEFA age-group meetings with Lithuania, San Marino's record is W0 D1 L6. However, four of those wins were by one-goal margins; most recently, Lithuania won 2-1 at home and 1-0 in Serravalle in qualifying for the 2015 UEFA European Under-21 Championship.

First signed for Dynamo Kyiv before playing periods with four other sides, ending his career at Zorya. Earned four international caps. • Began his coaching life with Inkaras, before returning to former teams Atlantas, Kaunas, Žalgiris and Sūduva. Won the Lithuanian Cup with Atlantas and Kaunas, and was named club coach of the year in 2010 during his second Žalgiris tenure. • Took over the Lithuania U21s in 2007 and five years later was appointed assistant to senior coach Csaba László. EURO finals: The UEFA European Championship was a four-team event in 1960, 1964, 1968, 1972 and 1976 (when the preliminary round and quarter-finals were considered part of qualifying).

From 1980 it was expanded to an eight-team finals and remained in that format in 1984, 1988 and 1992 until 1996, when the 16-team format was adopted. UEFA EURO 2016 was the first tournament to be played as a 24-team finals.

Records of inactive countries A number of UEFA associations have been affected by dissolution or splits of member associations. For statistical purposes, the records of these inactive countries have been allocated elsewhere: therefore, all Soviet Union matches are awarded to Russia; all West Germany – but not East Germany – matches are awarded to Germany; all Yugoslavia and Serbia & Montenegro matches are awarded to Serbia; all Czechoslovakia matches are allocated to both the Czech Republic and Slovakia.

Abandoned/forfeited matches For statisical purposes, when a match has been started and then abandoned but later forfeited, the result on the pitch at the time of abandonment is counted. Matches that never started and were either cancelled or forfeited are not included in the overall statistics.
