In Spain, the media market structure is made up of very different media groups, making it necessary to identify and classify them in a clear and coherent manner. To do so, this article collects secondary information from media companies’ websites and from audience measurement institutions. Results identify 50 media groups with activity in the Spanish market. They are classified into three categories according to the type of outlet, including national, sectorial, and regional. The current structure is based on recent developments in the last four decades of democracy among newspapers, magazines, radio, television and digital media. La estructura de la comunicación en España está formada por muy diferentes grupos de medios, lo que hace necesario identificarlos y clasificarlos de un modo claro y racional. Para ello, este artículo recaba información secundaria de los propios sitios web de las compañías y de las instituciones de referencia para la medición de audiencias. Los resultados identifican 50 grupos de comunicación con actividad en el mercado español. Se clasifican de acuerdo al tipo de medios que incluyen en tres categorías: grupos nacionales, sectoriales y regionales. La actual estructura se explica por la evolución reciente en las últimas cuatro décadas de democracia de los diarios, revistas, radios, televisiones y medios digitales. -

The year has also seen improvements to our corporate governance, and here, first of all, I would like to pay tribute to the per- son who served as our Chairman over the past year, Manuel Polanco. Our Board of Directors and its committees have been extremely active over the year, and we have been diligent in adopting their decisions. We believe the results have been positive, as you too will see in the wide-ranging information made public by the Company on this matter. We still have some way to go and we will forge ahead with the same determination as before. Our goal is to achieve the very best governance standards. IBBY Honour List 2012 1 IBBY Honour List 2012 The IBBY Honour List is a biennial selection of outstanding, recently published books, honour- ing writers, illustrators and translators from IBBY member countries. The first Honour List in 1956 was a selection of 15 entries from 12 countries. For the 2012 Honour List, 58 countries have sent 169 nominations in 44 different languages. Selected for the 2012 list are 65 entries in the category of Writing; 54 in the category Illustration; and 50 in the category Translation. Included for the first time is a book in Ojibwe from Canada, as well as two titles in Khmer from Cambodia and three new books on Arabic from the United Arab Emirates. This steady increase demonstrates the growth of IBBY and the continuing efforts to share good books across the world. The titles are selected by the National Sections of IBBY, who are invited to nominate books charac- teristic of their country and suitable to recommend for publication in different languages. -
