FileNet Content Services 4 Non-English Environments Recommendations

Recommendations

In general, apply the following recommendations when setting up and configuring Content Services:

1. Install the operating system and database engine for CS servers using the regional settings appropriate for your language. See “Support Matrix” on page 2 and “Known Issues and Restrictions” on page 11 for details associated with your CS platform edition.

2. Install the operating system and database engine using the code page and associated sort order appropriate for your language. For example: Under Windows SQL Server:

Language Code Pages Sort Order Latin-2 (e.g., Czech) OEM: 1252 accent-insensitive

Database: 1252

8859-7 (Greek) OEM: 1253 accent-insensitive Database: 1253

3. Avoid using setup.inf to install Content Services. Instead, use the Content Services interactive install program setup.exe. 4. If possible, avoid using Latin-2 or 8859-7 (Greek) characters in Content Services library system names. Otherwise, be aware that such characters may not display as expected in the following components: dssetup.exe (the command-line version of the Content Services setup program), CS Rendition Services windows and rendition template names, the CS Configuration tool, CS Replication Administration windows, and the CS Service Manager tool.

5. Do not index text files (e.g., those created with MS Notepad) for content search. 6. Do not enable the CS User Import functionality if Windows NT domains contain users or groups having Latin-2 or 8859-7 (Greek) characters. Instead, use the CS Admin Tools (CS Explorer, or the Bulk Process tool) to add users and groups to Content Services library systems.

FileNet Content Services 5 Non-English Environments Verity Search Requirements

Verity Search Requirements

For Verity searches to work on double-byte languages, you must perform the following procedure after installing any set of library services:

1. Launch rcadmin from a command line. 2. At the rcadmin prompt, type the following:

vdksettingset 3. At the Service Alias prompt, type the following:

CS_ServerName_LibraryName_K2Server where ServerName is the name of the CS server and LibraryName is the name of the CS library system.

FileNet Content Services 6 Non-English Environments Installing the Liquent PDF Printer

Installing the Liquent PDF Printer

Failure Record (FR) 52151 states that installation of FileNet Rendition Services does not by default install the printer driver used by the Liquent PDF Printer on a machine running a non-English Windows operating system. As a workaround, after installing FileNet Rendition Services, use the service account to logon to each Rendition Services server and perform the following two procedures in sequence to manually install and configure the Liquent PDF Printer.

To install the Liquent PDF Printer: 1. In Windows, choose Start > Settings > Printers and double-click Add Printer to launch the Add Printer wizard.

2. Click Next in the Welcome screen of Add Printer Wizard.

3. In the Local or Network Printer screen, click Local Printer, clear the “Automatically detect and install my Plug and Play Printer” check box, and then click Next.

4. In the Select the Printer Port screen, click “Create a new port”, select Local Port from the Type list, and then click Next. 5. In the Port Name box, type the following and then click OK:

:\Program Files\Common Files\liquent\esps. 6. In the Add Printer Wizard screen, select an entry from the Manufacturers list, select a level 2 PostScript printer driver from the Printers list, and then click Next.

Note The printer driver you select will not be the printer driver that Liquent PDF Printer uses. In step 12 you will change the printer driver setting to the AdobePS Distiller driver, which is the supported driver for the Liquent PDF Printer. 7. In the Name Your Printer screen, type the following text in the “Printer name” box exactly as it appears below (with case sensitivity):

LIQUENT PDF Printer Under “Do you want your Windows-based programs to use this printer as the default printer?”, click , and then click Next. 8. In the Printer Sharing screen, click “Do not share this printer” and then click Next.

9. In the Print Test Page screen, under “Do you want to print a test page”, click No and then click Next.

10. In the Completing the Add Printer Wizard screen, verify that the information is correct and click Finish.

11. Right-click the newly created Liquent PDF Printer, select Properties, and click the Advanced tab.

12. Click the Driver , select AdobePS Acrobat Distiller, and then click OK.

To configure the Liquent PDF Printer:

1. In Windows, choose Start > Settings > Printers.

FileNet Content Services 7 Non-English Environments Installing the Liquent PDF Printer

2. In the Printers window, right-click the Liquent PDF printer and choose Properties.

3. Click the General tab and then click Printing Preferences. 4. Click the Adobe PDF Settings tab, choose Vista Options from the Conversion Settings list, clear the “Prompt for the PDF Filename” check box, and then click OK.

Note If the “Prompt for PDF Filename” check box is not cleared, the Renditions server will prompt for files when rendering files to PDF. These prompts will stop automated rendering and will not allow the system to continue rendering until the prompts are closed. 5. Click the Advanced tab. In the Driver list, choose AdobePS Acrobat Distiller, and then click Printing Defaults. 6. Click the Adobe PDF Settings tab, choose Vista Options from the Conversion Settings list, clear the “Prompt for the PDF Filename” check box, and then click OK.

Caution Although step 6 appears identical to step 4, the settings you select for the printer driver in these two steps are stored in separate sections of the Windows registry. Both steps are needed to ensure correct rendering of documents to PDF. 7. Click OK to close the Liquent PDF Printer Properties dialog box and then close the Printers window.

Rendition Services for PDF • FR 52151 FileNet Rendition Services 5.3.0 does not by default install printer drivers for the Liquent PDF Printer on a non-English Windows operating system.

Remedy: Manually install the Liquent PDF Printer (refer to “Installing the Liquent PDF Printer” on page 7). Latin-2 Languages (e.g., Czech) Content Services Setup • FR 17172 The setup.inf file does not install Content Services correctly if you enter accented Latin-2 characters for the libname (library system name) parameter.

Details: The setup.inf file does not handle accented Latin-2 characters correctly, especially in the libname (library system name) parameter, making it impossible to set up Content Services using this script file (e.g., via SMS). Remedy: Instead of setup.inf, use the Content Services interactive setup.exe program to install Content Services library systems, or avoid using accented Latin-2 characters in any Content Services parameters (e.g., library system names). Rendition Services for PDF • FR 18344 IDM Desktop does not properly display rendition template names.

Details: Rendition Services for PDF allows you to create a rendition template whose name contains Latin-2 characters (for example, if you install Rendition Services on an English Windows NT 4.0 machine with Czech regional settings). However, IDM Desktop installed on a different machine with the same settings does not properly display the Latin-2 characters in the template name. Template

names display in Latin-1 characters only, and may be difficult to decipher in the different character set. That said, you can still apply the templates as expected and the publishing occurs without error. Remedy: Avoid using Latin-2 characters in rendition template names. • FR 52151 FileNet Rendition Services 5.3.0 does not by default install printer drivers for the Liquent PDF Printer on a non-English Windows operating system.

Remedy: Manually install the Liquent PDF Printer (refer to “Installing the Liquent PDF Printer” on page 7). CS Service Manager Tool • FR 16675 Latin-2 characters in library system names display incorrectly.

Details: Although Microsoft SQL Server allows you to create database instances using names containing accented Latin-2 characters, the CS Service Manager does not display the characters correctly. However, the CS Configuration tool displays them as expected, and there is no adverse affect on the ability to install or use library systems having names with accented Latin-2 characters. Remedy: Do not use Latin-2 characters in the database instances created for Content Services library systems. Japanese Rendition Services for PDF • FR 52151 FileNet Rendition Services 5.3.0 does not by default install printer drivers for the Liquent PDF Printer on a non-English Windows operating system.

Remedy: Manually install the Liquent PDF Printer (refer to “Installing the Liquent PDF Printer” on page 7). CS Admin Tools • FR 20615 A Japanese CVL name with an embedded newline (carriage return) character contains extraneous characters. To illustrate the erroneous CVL name, perform the following steps: a. Launch CS Explorer and choose Tools > Document Class.

. Click New CVL, enter a few Japanese characters, press Return, followed by two or three more Japanese characters.

c. Choose a CVL Data Type, add some CVL entries, and click Done.

In the Defined CVLs List, note the appearance of two dots in place of the newline character. • FR 50679 When CS 5.3.0 is installed on a Sun Solaris server with the Japanese display language, CS Admin Tools displays some CS property names with corrupted Japanese characters and others with English characters when logged on to a CS library system whose display language is English.
