Open(1) Knowles Tokaji Classic Trickster at Sarawana. A quality tri male with good outline and correctly set tail. Masculine head, typical expression, well-shaped eye although I would prefer a darker shade. Neat ears, crested neck. Strong top line, deep ribbing to well-made quarters. Well bodied with good coat texture and pliant skin. Moved freely, covering plenty of ground. Pleased to award BOB.

I would like to thank the Humberside Hound Association for the opportunity to judge the classes at their open show on November 16th, I had a lovely day. Thanks to all who entered and showed under me and to the stewards and committee.

44 Min Long-haired Dachshund Junior Mrs M P Oxley, DINKIDAX DRESSED IN RED Red bitch with feminine head, good pigmentation, moved well and very well presented.

T K Yates, LYNDARLEA JUST BRIAN OF IRISDAX Black and Tan , held topline well on the move, lacked a little confidence but improved as class went on.

A Black and tan dog, unsettled on table, made handler work hard. A lot to like but too ‘toyish’ in the head for my taste.

Mrs L M Cole, ANDROMEDA GALAXY Really liked this bitch, beautiful head and kind expression but carrying too much weight on the day which spoiled topline on the move which was a shame

A Standard smooth haired. 62 smooth-haired Dachshund Open Mrs A Clark, TIESAL DEBUTANTE Black and Tan Bitch, good mouth, too ‘toyish’ in head for my taste. Overweight and needs exercising which would help her outline and feet. Best of Breed.

Otterhound (1) (Judge M Holder) Special Yearling 1st Mr and Mrs Smith’s Ottaryx Quartz At Goldmarker Young bitch of nearly 17 months, she has a nice happy temperament with a very pleasing head and expression, she has good size, strong legs and feet and good forehand construction. Good coat, excellent topline and tail carriage, covered the ground on the move Portuguese Podengo (1) (Judge M Holder) Post Grad 1st Mrs G Cowen’s Belfus Cisco A good example of the breed he is a good size, make and shape, 4 years with a lean head with very expressive eyes, strong neck, good topline and moderately angulated hindquarters. His shoulder could be better laid but he is nicely balanced and a sound mover. Rhodesian Ridgebacks (4) (Judge M Holder) Puppy 1st Rhodes Priorpark Paradice City of Metalrock 8 months, well grown in lovely condition, broad head, good ears, long strong neck and well laid shoulders, good topline and very well angulated rear quarters with good width. Well boned, very good feet, he needs to coordinate better on the move. Best Puppy

Open 1st Bates Ch Gunthwaites Midnite Swinga A really good class won by 2 ½ yrs super bitch in rock hard condition, and very balanced, with attractive head, long strong neck and well laid shoulders, good topline and very well angulated rear quarters with good width. Well boned, very good feet, and very free and active movement BOB and Group 3 2nd Craven and Macfall’s Ch Hespa Henry Higgins JW Quality male of 5 years, loved his head with powerful long muzzle. Fairly long neck, good front angulation, deep chest, good topline with strong loin, and well muscled hindquarters. Had a look of quality with excellent bone, just not as good going away as winner but a close call Res BOB 3rd Chavez-Novoa’s Carlincox First Impression JW

A AV Import (Judge M Holder) Special Yearling (4) (2) 1st Stanley’s Coonsar Magnetic North B and T Coonhound Excellent head and expression, correctly folded ears, shoulders well laid back, strong topline, correct tail set and carriage, excellent profile movement displaying reach and drive but a little close behind at present. Best Import Puppy 2nd Wyer’s Pascaline du Sentier des Caillottes Griffon Fauve de Bretagne Almost 9 months quality bitch, although older than the winner was looking less mature especially on the move, she has a feminine head and very kind expression, ears are well set, good neck and shoulders, and well proportioned body.

Post Grad (4) (2) 1st Binnersley and Tomkinson’s Covehithe Duke of Hazzard B and T Coonhound 21 months male well bodied and a very good type with excellent bone. His head is cleanly moulded and balanced with body, strong underjaw, ears are set well and were of good length. He has a good forehand with straight forelegs, his chest will drop with maturity, super bone and feet and level topline. Rearquarters strong and well muscled he moved truly with good reach and drive. Best Import 2nd Wyer’s Otis du Rec de la Borie (IMP FR) Griffon Fauve de Bretagne 16 months male of lovely character, as to be expected a lot of maturing to do, super head, well set ears, moderately short well muscled neck, well constructed forequarters, strong muscular hindquarters, sound on the move.

Open (3) (1) 1st Stanley’s Covehithe Steam Boat Willy B and T Coonhound Brother to post grad winner and he has similar attributes, a very nice balanced male, excellent head and expression, muscular neck and well laid shoulder. His ribs are well sprung, back is level and he has an excellent slope to his croup. Sound mover, parallel coming and going and keeps his lovely outline when viewed from the side. Two super boys Res BOB 2nd Wyer’s Melisent du Sentier des Caillottes ShCEx (IMP Fr) Griffon Fauve de Bretagne 3 ½ year old bitch, my favourite of the Griffon Fauves, workmanlike with the best of coats, attractive head with well folded ears, well angulated forehand, level topline, moderate angulation in rear, tail is well carried and she moved out well in profile. AV Hound (Judge M Holder) Special Neutered Hound Open (4) 1st Mrs T Maun’s Multi Ch Bowerhinton Bear Necessity N Elkhound See Res BVIS 2nd Miss J Taylor’s Debbiejay Magical Flo MSH Dachshund 5 years very nice with lovely head, strong neck and good angulation front and rear, with moderately long and well muscled body. Excellent free and flowing movement on a long stride. 3rd Sawyer’s Jaxx Teller at Stonelow .

A Special Scenthound Open (7) (3) 1st Bartley’s Erylan Zeus Roi Des Dieux PBGV Mature, balanced, quality male of 21 months, oval head, lovely dark eye, good ears, long strong neck, completely balanced with well angulated front and rear quarters, deep chest, well ribbed back, with strong loin. Moved effortlessly on a long stride with good drive 2nd Eldabe’s Davricard Belladonna for Rosamax 3 years well constructed, sound and typical, nice head, good reach of neck into well laid shoulder, good front,very well boned, good depth of brisket and well ribbed back. Showed well and moved with reach and drive. 3rd Miss J Taylor’s Debbiejay Magical Flo MSH Dachshund

Special Open (5) (3) 1st Miss K Taylor’s Amarillo Rose Nice bitch of 20 months, she stands over a lot of ground, is well boned with good substance, attractive head, ear could be better folded, strong neck, and good forehand construction. Very well angulated rear quarters, movement good in profile, but a little untidy coming and going 2nd Sawyer’s Jaxx Teller at Stonelow Greyhound 5 year old ex racing boy of lovely type well muscled, moderately angulated with fair topline and underline. He has good depth and is sound but a little erratic on the move

Puppy (9) (5) 1st Lancashire and O’Donnell’s If The Crown Fits Drishaun 6 month old brindle and white particolour, of correct size, nice type with super head and strong neck, correct angulation front and rear, good depth of brisket and spring of pasterns, excellent feet. Good topline and underline, very well schooled moving out well in all directions 2nd Ward’s Caryna Manantena at Backtor Promising puppy of 9 months, lovely type with good bone, nice expression, well set ears and good reach to neck. He makes a good shape standing and is moderately angulated front and rear, sound on the move, I look forward to watching him grow on. 3rd Borsuk and Cole’s Amberteckle Phoenix Rising LH Dachshund Junior (10) (7) 1st Drishaun Consider The Lily Very well made young lady of 17 months with pleasing head and expression, super balance with correct topline and tail set, very good front and rear angulation, strode out with purpose and style and very happy and exhuberant. Presented well she was my BIS I loved her and will watch her career with interest 2nd ’s Barrassy’s Copyright Irish Wolfhound Lovely bitch of 13 months, lacking the maturity and confidence of the winner she has a beautiful head with dark eye, well angulated forehand with good topline and underline, well angulated hindquarters, she moves with an easy gait. 3rd Cole’s Little Pickles Gibson LH Dachshund Post Grad (9) (4) 1st Mr and Mrs Bartley’s Erylan Zeus Roi des Dieux PBGV See Special Scenthound Open 2nd Mesdames Elam and Head’s Demerlay Sweet Dreams Whippet Very nice young bitch of 23 months, she has the most attractive head and expression, very well

A boned, good front and depth with spring of rib would just prefer a little more return to upper arm, well bodied with good topline, scoring here with her sound positive movement. 3rd Miss K Taylor’s Amarillo Rose Irish Wolfhound

Limit (6) (2) 1st Bartley’s Erylan Loki Maitre du Mal PBGV This rising 3 year old male was reserve in special sighthound, he came back in with a different handler and looked a different dog. He is a lovely type and has a good outline, well balanced with good head and expression, well ribbed back, a good coat and moved well. 2nd Mrs J Robinson’s Bushoby a New Daybreak 2 1/2 years old, of good breed type, liked her head and ears, she has a sound front with well sprung ribs and firm topline, nice length of body and muscular rearquarters, and carried her tail very well. The winner was more positive on the move. 3rd Mrs L Cole’s Pennywise of Derry LH Dachshund

Open (2) (1) 1st Mrs J Robinson’s Bushoby The Architect Basset Hound 4 years old male with well domed head and strong jaw, well bodied with firm topline, good lay of shoulder and well angulated rearquarters with short hock. Moved out well, would have liked a little more muscle tone.

Veteran (11) (5) 1st Miss J Taylor’s Falconcrag Valiant Lovely character of 8 years, I liked her head, expressive eyes and highly mobile ears, very clean neck and shoulder, lovely outline, level topline, good bone and excellent feet, she moved soundly in all directions with tail carried well. 2nd R Francis’s Kiswahili Linda Lokmadi MS Dachshund Quality bitch of 8 years very nice with lovely head, strong neck and good angulation front and rear, and moderately long and well muscled body. Good movement with a long stride, parallel and showing good drive 3rd Makey’s Ir Ch Gairside Ferdinand JW ShCM AnCH 15 GBGV

Brace 1st Lancashire and O’Donnell’s Afghans Well schooled and matched pair, put in a faultless performance, so even in type and construction with similar attributes, a pleasure to judge them. 2nd Bartley’s PBGV’s Lovely pair also putting in a great performance but not so alike as the winners 3rd R Francis Dachshunds Best In Show (Judge M Holder) BIS: Drishaun Consider The Lily Afghan Hound See A V Hound Junior RBIS: Garrett, Oakey and Owen’s Glenoak Lunah from Caryna Saluki 3 year old bitch who caught my eye for her beautiful type, shape and balance, lovely bone and smooth free flowing movement.

A Group 3 Bates Ch Gunthwaites Midnite Swinga R Ridgeback R Ridgeback Open Group 4 Mrs T Maun’s Bowerhinton Bettina N Elkhound She has a well shaped head with good eye set and colour and a very friendly expression, her neck is strong, she has good body proportions and moves out well.

Puppy BPIS Reynold’s Bazinga Gazing At Haley’s Comet (IMP NOR) Pharoah Hound 9 months old of excellent type, with lovely head, using her ears, arched neck, well bodied for age with ribcage of good depth, topline level and good slope of croup. Nice size and well boned. Moved very well I thought she was outstanding RBPIS Dillon and Bailey’s Stonefox Ice Pick Willy at Runforest Whippet Quality brindle boy of good type and size, beautiful head, lovely expression, strong long neck, nicely balanced angulation front and rear, good topline and underline, well muscled with strong hocks that he uses to advantage on the move. Very Sound PG3 Russell’s Shiroblam Serendipity Basset Fauve de Bretagne Quality head, nice harsh coat, good front with correct shoulder placement, deep chest, well bodied with strong rear quarters. Carried tail well, good width through the stifle , she strode out well on the move PG4 Garratt and Oakey’s Caryna Remeny Saluki 9 months of lovely type and size with attractive head and eye, balanced with correct angulation fore and aft, good topline and underline, moved with an effortless gait

Veteran BVIS Ellrich’s Ch Malrich Sir Ruff Diamond VWW 18 Basset Hound Very nice male of 10 years, head domed, large nostrils, well arched strong neck, well angulated forequarters, short forelegs, good length and depth with well sprung ribs, well muscled wide rear quarters, movement sound and free. RBVIS Maun’s Multi Ch Bowerhinton Bear Necessity N Elkhound 12 years with well shaped head, good eye set, colour and friendly expression, very mobile ears, very solid compact and powerful, strong neck into excellent topline, good body and proportions, presenting a balanced outline, lovely stride on the move. VG3 Wheeler’s Meneghy’s Star Deerhound 7 years, very nice head, eyes dark, small ear, very well balanced with nicely angulated front and rear quarters, topline excellent with well arched loin, good underline, very sound typical movement. VG4 Peacock’s Linalkin Meadow Lark JW ShCM Whippet Attractive 9 year old male, very nice head, good ear and eye, strong neck, nicely constructed front, excellent feet, well bodied for age, lovely rear quarters with good width and bend of stifle. Moved very well.
