National Dog Show The National Dog Show Hosted by Broadcast at Noon Thanksgiving Day A Thanksgiving Tradition November 28 WELCOME to the National Dog Show Presented by Purina® and hosted by the Kennel Club of Philadelphia. On behalf of the members of the Kennel Club of Philadelphia, I thank you for joining us today as we once again celebrate showing purebred dogs in the Philadelphia area. The show was founded in 1879 and became an annual event in 1933. The Kennel Club of Philadelphia proudly supports a number of canine related organizations, and has donated over $300,000 to these groups just this year alone. The National Dog Show, airing annually on Thanksgiving Day at noon on NBC, has been thrilling dog lovers ever since it began in 2002, and we estimate that since then, one quarter of a billion people have watched! A huge thank you goes to our Title Sponsor and partner, Purina®! Their 18-year commitment to the National Dog Show Presented by Purina® has made all of this possible. Purina’s excellent work in pet care and pet products and their innovative programs in canine health and wellness continue to keep our beloved pets happy, healthy, and living longer lives. Be sure to visit www.purina.com to learn more. Enjoy the dog show, and let us know about your experience at www.facebook.com/kennelclubofphiladogshows/. Happy Thanksgiving! PLANNED COURSE OF STUDY Course Title English Literature and Composition - Academic Grade Level Tenth Grade Credits One Content Area / Dept. English Language Arts Length of Course One semester Author(s) J. McCaslin, K. Ward, G. Woehlcke Course Description: Literature and Composition (Academic), a diverse, thematically structured course, expands upon the writing process and the development of literary analysis skills. Students write a series of analytical and reader response essays and read from a variety of literary genres. Instruction focuses on analyzing literary elements, analyzing author’s purpose, and writing with precision and focus. Additionally, students learn and practice research skills and processes. Grammar usage within the context of students’ reading and writing is an integral component. Students also continue their study of vocabulary through close analysis of literary passages. Though many years of English education can have a bearing on their results, students take the Literature Keystone Exam in grade 10 in addition to their final exams. Course Rationale: The works in the tenth-grade curriculum compel all of us to examine who we are as storytellers. As students progress through the course, they engage in conversations about how we communicate our identities through the observations, insights, and stories we tell. To this end, students closely examine the obvious ways in which we communicate tone through language, movement, and the nature of our conflicts. These conversations yield valuable dialogue and allow multiple openings to evaluate how an author forms a literary identity. Equally important, students have the opportunity to self-reflect on their own identity. Ultimately, students can see how conflict shapes identity and produces insight and growth.

It’s chocolate, it’s peppermint ─it’s delicious!” While this may sound like your typical television commercial, you can thank Jerry Seinfeld and his butter fingers for what is actually one of the most renowned lines in television history. As part of a 1993 episode of Seinfeld , subsequently known as “The Junior Mint,” these infamous words have certainly gained a bit more attention than the show’s writers had originally bargained for. In fact, those of you who were annoyed by last year’s focus on a McDonald’s McFlurry on NBC’s 30 Rock may want to take up your beef with Seinfeld’s producers for supposedly showing marketers the way to the future ("Brand Practice: Product Integration Is as Old as Hollywood Itself").

  • Submission to Allow the Peruvians Hairless Dogs to Run As Sighthounds in Lure Coursing. Peruvians Have Been Lure Coursing In
2019 LURE COURSING MTG – ATTACHMENT 5d Submission to allow the Peruvians Hairless Dogs to run as Sighthounds in Lure Coursing. Peruvians have been Lure Coursing in South Australia since the formation of the South Australian Lure Coursing and Racing Club in 2014. We have been running as CAT dog but have been gaining sighthound scores. We have a Peruvian with a coursing title and plan to take two others to their titles soon. As we believe our breed is a Primitive Sighthound it seems logical to race them as such and enable them to compete and run with other Peruvians in tandem races. On observation the Peruvian courses in a similar way to other primitive hounds and has exactly the same action and drive that is needed to course over rough terrain that is seen in dogs such as the Afghan and Saluki. I have spoken to Lure Coursing Judges who have judged Peruvians coursing and below are some of their comments. When having the pleasure of judging the Peruvian in Adelaide at Lure Coursing I observed that the breed showed the same tendency as a sighthound both on watching and observing where the lure was going and also the running and speed of this breed. They were very attentive to what was around them when it came to the course. Agility for the speed of the dog was very precise with constant watch on the lure, as a sighthound does. Alison Jarvis I submit this letter in regards to discussions in ANKC Lure Coursing ruling about transferal of the breed Peruvian Hairless dog into the sighthound stream from Coursing Ability stream.

Biographies of the Nominees for the RRCUS 2020/2021 Slate of Officers and Directors PRESIDENT Anne Jones I purchased my first Ridgeback in 1990, my plan was to show her in Obedience. We finished a UD together and she was the first Ridgeback to earn an MX in agility. I fell head over heels in love with the breed and with the entire dog show world. Performance is my first love and over the last 25 years I have had two MACH Ridgebacks, several in top ten obedience and agility, two BIF coursing dogs and two Triathlon Winners. I’ve won three AOM’s at National Specialties with my own dogs, from Veteran’s classes and Field Dog. With my first conformation dog I stood in the BIS ring twice, a thrill I will never forget. RRCUS provides education, ethical guidance, health testing recommendations and National Specialties that bring so many of our club members together. RRCUS is the foundation that helps our members produce healthy, versatile, beautiful Ridgebacks. I love our club and have given back by volunteering as Agility, Obedience and Triathlon Chair, 12 years as Director, and 1 year as 1st VP. I was a retail manager for 20 years and finished my career with ToysRus as a Store Director before starting my own business as a Dog Trainer in 1996, a career I still love 23 years later. I have been President and VP of the 4 Paw Agility Club of North GA, Chair for its agility trials, and Treasurer and Obedience Chair for the Atlanta Kennel Club.

MPDBA Newsletter Created by: Jill Crisp June 2021 NEXT MEETING June 17, 2021 June 2021 greetings from your president. Please note Krista’s email regarding State Fair benching & demo assignments, and note that there are still openings. We now get over 12,000 per day people visiting our new Pet Pavilion. That is because of our beautiful dogs and wonderful people and presentations, but also because of all the new development and new vendors at the north end of the Fairgrounds. That, of course, means that we need more people to help get information out about purebred dogs. If you can bench or you can provide a demo, please contact Krista Peterson, [email protected] or contact me. The State Fair Committee will be sending information out about helping out at the info desk. It’s great fun answering the varied questions we get at the info desk and referring folks to the resources they need. Looking forward to working with you at the Fair. John Armour [email protected] State Fair is only 2-1/2 months away Many of you have responded to my email regarding the 2021 State Fair and there are some who have not responded. We have about 80% of the double benches booked and quite a few single benches left to book yet. If you are interested in benching, please let me know. The State Fair is asking for the schedule on or before June 21st. Thank you for all of you who have already booked and to those who plan to help out this year.
