16 www.peninsulafnl.com.au President’s View Frankston YCW Football Club President’s Message Today is what all clubs aspire to, a Grand Final appearance and for Frankston YCW we are fortunate to have both our Reserves and Senior sides here. This doesn’t happen by chance or by luck, it happens because of dedication, determination, belief, organization and an enormous amount of hard work to count a few reasons. Our opponents today Mt Eliza and Mornington have done exactly that as well and today will be an exhibition of the finest football the Peninsula League has to offer and I wish both Presidents, David and Norm the very best of luck. Our first year Reserves coach and ex YCW player Daniel Strickland takes on the onerous role of the initial game. He has diligently worked with his payer group this year and moulded them into this Grand Final competing side. The respect the players and club show towards him is well deserved. Some coaches work their entire careers to never play in Grand Finals so Daniels day is now. He has the boys in both the finest physical and mental condition and no matter the outcome should stand proud for his achievements this year. Scott Mathers, our unflappable senior coach who’s past involvement with YCW under 18s and assistant coaching roles in our previous success in the senior ranks is one of the finest football minds in the league ,tactically astute ,calm under pressure and poised to make today one to remember . We wish to thank Scott for his continued efforts. He is the perfect example of the harder you work the luckier you get and Scott’s hours of effort that is unseen by others has borne the fruit of a player group that will not let him down. He has a support group that he leads and to them a thankyou as well. Our senior player list is a diversified group of young men who may differ in size, abilities, culture and background but are examples to the community of how those diverse people can together be successful as a unit with a single goal. Our future looks bright when I see them together both on the field and in their social environment and makes us as a club proud that they represent YCW in such a manner. Today boys, play with the commitment and heart you have shown us all year. On a personal note, I wish to thank my committee for their support in my first year as president. Although many say they know how much work that committees perform, I’m sure they only know half of what they do but, as a group they have worked tirelessly without need for recognition to make this great club tick and today is why we they all do it. THANKYOU. A big thanks to our major sponsors including Graham Quarries, Frankston RSL, Priority One Building Services, Vawdrey Semi-Trailers & Truck Bodies, WA Freight Lines, O’Shea’s Timber & Hardware, Australian Plastic Pro- files , BRD Electrical Services and the Langwarrin Sports Medicine Group. GO STONECATS. Gerard Wintle – President Frankston YCW Football Netball Club Mornington Football Club President’s Message On behalf of the committee, business partners, members and sup- porters we want to express our pride and offer our congratula- tions to Stuart Seagar, Dave Miller, John Sloan, Kerry Debernardi, all their support team and all the players on reaching the Senior and Under 18 Grand Final. To get to this goal doesn’t happen by accident and I wish to thank everyone associ- ated with the club for their contribution and dedication over the season. Today is the opportunity we have been starved of for the past 11 years in the seniors and 3 years in the under 18s to reward all the hard work and generous support we receive from our dedicated volunteers, committee ,members, supporters, our fantastic business partners without whom this would not have happened. Also a time to re- ward our fantastic players and coaching staff, as we seek reward for effort. Congratulations also to YCW and Mount Eliza on also reaching the grand finals. The rivalry between our clubs goes back many years and it is exciting to see it return to the biggest day on the calendar of Peninsula Football. Thanks also to all those involved with PCN Alliance, Jeff ,Ian, Stu ,Leah, Sue and everyone else you do a great job and we are appreciative of your dedication and commitment to local football/netball. Congratulations also to the umpires who will represent the SUA today, all the best for a good day. To the committee, let’s enjoy the day and thanks so much for your support and dedication you certainly are a special group of people. Finally win or lose we are extremely proud of our boys and efforts and hope everyone gets to see some good contests. Go you mighty Bulldogs. www.peninsulafnl.com.au 19 Club Notes Mt Eliza Red Legs Congratulations to the 66 players that will run out in the Red & Blue this weekend. You have certainly deserved the right to play in today’s Grand Finals. Now is the time to make the most of that opportunity. Another great win by the “Reds” last week v Sorrento. We led in a tight game for the majority, before being headed in the last. Late goals from Ben Carr & Lamby sealed a fantastic 11 point win. Better players were Hawks, Jon Pirpiris, Thorpey, Richo, Whits & Lamby. Six wins in a row now sees us get a shot at the undefeated Rosebud this morning. After a week off the U/18 Blue team take on the Dogs & a tough game is anticipated this time around. The Reserves take on YCW today after a week off & looked primed to go. A super win a fortnight ago v the Dogs, with Rob Dyring kicking the winner at the end. Good luck to Kenty, Steve, “Souts” & their charges... The MEFNC is right behind you & are proud of you all! A fantastic night at the Vote Count on Monday, with Redleg Brenton Lambert (5th) prominent in the Nepean votes. Two votes in the final Round saw Brodie Shaw tie for the Peninsula Medal in a super performance & Jarrah also picked up plenty of votes. Heasa collected 3rd in the Seniors, along with the Rovers spot in the Team of the Year. Thanks to all Sponsors that have supported us through- out 2014 - You have all been sensational. Hopefully the boys can give you something to remember today. Presentation Night Sat 11th Oct at M’Ton Bowls Club. Go You Redlegs!! #oneshot
