Fall 2017 LINCOLN LUTHERAN 2016-2017 ANNUAL REPORT Warrior fall 2017 LINCOLNN LUTHERANe 2016-2017w sANNUAL REPORT Dear Warrior Family and Friends, THANK you for your support and prayers through the past school year. Thank you for sending your children to Lincoln Lutheran and thank you for your generous support through volunteering and financial support. The last year saw an increase in the number of students, many hours of volunteering that allowed events to happen, and a very successful year of financial support. A few of the successes during the past year: • Large attendance for Grandparent’s Day • Successful and fun golf tournament • Over 800 in attendence for all Lutheran School chapel during National Lutheran Schools Week • Large attendance and financial support through the annual Gala • Great start to the Now Through Eternity campaign resulting in: o Growth in scholarship endowments o Additional debt reduction o Tuition increase for 2017-18 is the lowest since 2001 o Construction of a multi-use building will begin in September 2017 The one question that I am frequently asked is “How can you ask people for money?” To tell you the truth it is not hard at all when you believe in the product you are “selling”. I believe in Lincoln Lutheran and the Christ-centered education received by students. My job is to “plant the seed” by telling the story and the Holy Spirit does the work in the hearts of people that hear the story and experience Lincoln Lutheran. My prayer for this next school year is to meet more of the special people that make Lincoln Lutheran what it is today and together we can continue to make a difference in the lives of young men and women, Today, Tomorrow, and Forever. Trusting in Christ, Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge Him and He will make your Lloyd W. Wagnitz paths straight.” – Proverbs 3:5-6 Director of Ministry Advancement Our Mission Equip young people to be faithful disciples of Jesus Christ by providing an excellent, Christ-centered education. fundraising results Thank you to all of our generous donors who supported the Lincoln Lutheran ministry in 2016-2017, raising a total of $947,728. Our ministry would not exist without your generosity. This year’s fundraising highlights include: Lutheran Education Foundation Lincoln Lutheran Campaign (raised $690,272) Activities ($42,914) Annual Gala (raised $96,520) Thrivent Choice & SCRIP ($17,788) Scholarships (raised $40,946) Other ($19,794) General (raised $15,139) Warrior Classic Golf (raised $24,355) Tournament solicitations Activities Campaign Annual Gala Scholarships Thrivent Choice & SCRIP Foundation General Warrior Classic Golf Tournament Other llsa operational budget Lincoln Lutheran Middle/High School receives no money from local, state or federal taxes. Lincoln Lutheran relies on tuition income, congregational support and annual contributions to meet operating expenses. Tuition and fees cover approximately 60% of the cost to educate a student at Lincoln Lutheran. Association Churches provide an additional 28% through assessments and tuition support. Each year we rely on charitable giving to bridge the gap between revenue and expenses. In 2016-17, $213,788 was raised to directly support operations. The additional dollars given by the friends of our ministry (represented on previous page) went to support special needs and projects throughout the school. revenue Congregational Support: $760,442 Tuition: $1,768,066 Fund Development: $213,788 Other: $94,481 expenses Payroll: $2,079,293 Professional Expenses: $133,850 Professional Development: $16,510 Operations: $385,398 Debt Service: $223,673 Planned Giving Have you made plans for what happens with your children and assests after you leave this earth to be with your Creator? What will your legacy be? As difficult as it might be to talk about, it is something that everyone should do. If your children are young, you should have a plan in place to provide for their care. Plans are also needed to distribute your assests in a way that saves taxes and makes the biggest “impact” possible. Scott Ernstmeyer or Lloyd Wagnitz can assist you through the planning process. We can walk you through the Lifetime Plan for Giving process to discover how God has specifically gifted you with a heart of generosity. At the conclusion of the process your personal information will be ready to present to legal counsel for completion of your estate plan. There are a variety of methods to make planned gifts that vary from simple to complex such as Wills, Life Insurance, Retirement plans, start an Endowment, and Trusts. Contact us at 402-467-5404 for more information on the Legacy Society or Lifetime Plan for Giving. Legacy Society The Legacy Society is an honorary group with a passion for Christian education that provides a means by which the Lutheran Education Foundation can say “thank you” during life, for generous intentions and plans established now that are not likely to materialize during a person’s earthly sojourn. Those who have chosen to be recognized have done so for the purpose of encouraging others to discover their legacy of generosity. 2011 ANNUAL REPORT LINCOLn’s FUTURE LINCObuildingLN CHAMBER OF COMMERCE 2011 ANNUAL REPORT CHAMBER OF COMMERCE CONVENTION & VISITORS BUREAU PARTNERSHIP FOR ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT A LOOK BACK... TONN OSTERGARD, CRETE CARRIER CORP. 2011 CHAIR Lincoln Chamber of Commerce Members: Thank you for the honor and pleasure of serving as your Chairman in 2011. I anticipated it was going to be an exciting year but I’m not sure I appreciated the extent of what we were to experience. Starting the year with Steve Forbes as keynote at our annual meeting set the appropriate tone. What a great event. The year that followed lived up to Mr. Forbes’ free enterprise rallying cry. We stayed busy and provided leadership on several key projects such as CIR reform, the Talent & Innovation package of legislative bills, the Guardians of Freedom Airshow, funding for roads, Nebraska Innovation Campus, and another sold-out Federal Fly-Back event in Ashland. The Chamber is perpetual motion – always on the move and always working on something to help improve our community. We even managed to develop a new program to support internships. TalentLNK helped 30 employers and over 100 interns get better acquainted with Lincoln and hopefully encourage them to stay in our great city. I’m proud to have been a part of keeping Lincoln’s momentum going. You can just look at the Lincoln skyline in the now famous crane photo commissioned by the Chamber to see the progress. We are fortunate to have a great professional staff and actively engaged members and leaders. We are well respected as business advocates in Nebraska among elected officials and in our collation with the Omaha and State Chambers.
