New Ken Burns Film, Cancer: e Emperor of All Maladies to Air March 30-April 1

Cancer: e Emperor Of All Maladies tells the comprehensive story of cancer, from its rst description in an ancient Egyptian scroll to the gleaming laboratories of modern research institutions. At six hours, the lm interweaves a sweeping historical narrative with inti- mate stories about contemporary patients, and an investigation into the latest scientic breakthroughs that may have brought us, at long last, within sight of lasting cures. Based on the Pulitzer Prize-winning book e Emperor of All Maladies: A Biography of Cancer by Siddhar- tha Mukherjee, M.D., this three-part major television event artfully weaves three dierent lms in one: a riveting historical documentary; an engrossing and intimate vérité lm; and a scientic and investiga- tive report.
