Kappa Alpha Theta Membership Contract

DELTA KAPPA MEMBERSHIP CONTRACT

Introduction All active members of the Delta Kappa Chapter of Kappa Alpha Theta are herein bound to the policies and regulations set forth in the following Membership Contract (updated Spring 2021). By providing her signature at the closing of this contract, each active member thereby agrees to comply with the rules and regulations as set forth by the Fraternity on local and national levels and Louisiana State University, as they are applicable to her membership. *

Loyalty Pledge Prior to her initiation, each member signs her Loyalty Pledge Card as it has been provided to her by National Kappa Alpha Theta. By signing this membership contract, the active member agrees that she has signed her Loyalty Pledge Card and continues to abide by it. The agreement each active membership agrees to upon the signature of her Loyalty Pledge Card can be found as follows:

“I promise my loyal support to Kappa Alpha Theta in the attainment and preservation of its ideals. Should I at any time by my actions demonstrate disloyalty to the Fraternity idea, to which I here subscribe, I agree to submit my resignation to the Fraternity and return my badge and membership certificate. In consideration of the Fraternity’s accepting me as a member, I agree that my membership is governed by the Constitution and Bylaws of the Fraternity interpreted under the laws of the State of Indiana.” Code of Conduct Upon signing her Loyalty Pledge Card and successful initiation, the active member agrees to conduct herself in a manner that aligns with the Fraternity ideals and in accordance with all chapter and university policies. Details of a member’s expected conduct can be found within the Fraternity’s Bylaws * and Louisiana State University’s Code of Student Conduct (LSU Code of Student Conduct found here: https://www.lsu.edu/saa/students/codeofconduct.php). Members are expected and encouraged to review the Bylaws document in its entirety as well as the university’s policies regarding student conduct. By signing this contract, the active member agrees that her conduct should be in accordance with the Fraternity’s Bylaws and the University’s Code of Student Conduct.

DELTA KAPPA MEMBERSHIP CONTRACT

Disciplinary Action Active members of the Delta Kappa Chapter of Kappa Alpha Theta are governed by and expected to comply with all policies, rules, regulations, and obligations set forth and detailed in the fraternity’s Bylaws as published by the fraternity’s national headquarters and updated by the Delta Kappa Chapter. Members are expected and encouraged to review the Bylaws document in its entirety. By signing this contract, the active member agrees that her membership is governed by the Fraternity’s Bylaws. * While the full and complete Bylaws document is protected by the Rules of Ritual as set forth by Kappa Alpha Theta, the following brief excerpt outlines the fraternity’s grounds and duties to initiate disciplinary action against an active member:

A member or new member may be subject to discipline for the following causes: a. Failure to meet financial obligations; b. Failure to meet scholarship standards; c. Failure to comply with university, college, or chapter rules and regulations; d. Failure to abide by federal, state, province, or local laws and ordinances; e. Conduct unbecoming a member of the Fraternity; f. Intentional breach of Fraternity vows; g. Failure to comply with Fraternity laws or the policies and procedures established by Grand Council; or h. Disloyalty to the Fraternity or the Fraternity principle.

Infractions and Consequences The execution of disciplinary action and subsequent consequences are handled by the chapter on a case-by- case basis, as determined by the cause of disciplinary action. The primary form of consequence employed by the Fraternity are forms of membership probation that include but are not limited to: automatic probation, financial probation, scholastic probation, and discretionary probation. In more serious instances, membership in the Fraternity may be terminated. A detailed list of the Fraternity’s processes for executing disciplinary action is located in the Fraternity’s Bylaws. Members are expected and encouraged to review the Bylaws document in its entirety. By signing this contract, the active member agrees and understands that potential disciplinary action has been outlined in the Fraternity’s Bylaws. *

Agreement and Signature I, ______, (please print) as an active member of the Delta Kappa Chapter of Kappa Alpha Theta have read and understood this Membership Contract and all relevant documents referenced within. By providing my signature below, I agree to be in compliance with all rules, regulations, guidelines, and policies as set forth by the Fraternity and University. If at any time my conduct violates what has been set forth by the Membership Contract, I understand that I am subject to potential disciplinary action by the Fraternity and/or University.
