Cornwallis standing before his aides, receives the sons of Tipu Sultan as hostages (Pudd 792.1.1; Eimer 845). Slight spotting on rev., Very Fine+, Rare. Estimate: ` 25,000-30,000 2 George III, Settlement of the British at Bombay, Copper Medal, 1804, obv. Neptune reclining on globe, cradling cornucopia and holding the Union Jack, the British lion at his feet with the date 1662 below, rev. Neptune seated on globe, holding trident and Victory in left hand, 'The French Fleet Repulsed by the East India Company 1804' written around, the medal was struck in 1820 (Pud-804.1, Eimer 952). Britannia passing a scroll to two native Indians, engraved by W. Wyon struck at the Soho Mint (Pudd 833.1). Extremely Fine, Very Rare. La Martiniere (name of his school), with the name of the recipient within wreath for writing in 1859 (Pud 836.3.2). About Extremely Fine, Rare. Estimate: ` 5,000-6,000 5 Banaras Maharaja's Well, White Metal Medal, Maharaja Ishree Prasad Narayan Singh of Benaras, seated and his son standing with a large hookah in the foreground on obv., the famous Well erected at Stoke Row, Oxfordshire with a domed roof on rev., 27 Feb. 1872 (Pudd 872.1). Uncirculated, Rare. Edward Reade the English commissioner of Banaras in his conversations with the Maharaja mentioned the lack of water during the dry season in his home town Stoke Row, Oxfordshire. This medal commemorates the gifting of a well to Stoke Row, Oxfordshire by the Maharaja. Britannia standing and India seated, receiving assorted goods in exchange for tea etc. from four figures symbolic of the Empire, and a pagoda in the distance, by J. S. & A. B. Wyon, (Pudd 883.2.1). Estimate: ` 4,50,000-5,50,000 9 James Burnes, Silver Medal, obv. bust of Burnes to left, rev. Founded by the Masonic Brethren of Bombay to reward Merit at the Byculla Schools, awarded to Arthur E. Bust of Bengalee wearing a Parsi hat and wearing the Most Eminent Order of the Indian Empire, Companion's (C.I.E.) Neck Badge, with inscription Sorabjee Shapoorjee Bengalee C.I.E. around, rev. lion in center to right on a plinth with date 1893 below, with inscription Zoroastrian Girls School Association around (Pudd 893.5). Superb Mint State, Rare.
