My son suggests it would be a good additional picnic area as the current area is too small and crowded in the summer, also the ground is very bumpy and the trees drop a lot of cones etc. The flat ground in the bowling green would be a good sunny dog free picnic area. In my opinion the best use for the space would be as a community fruit orchard or community allotment space, with facilities to give children, disabled people, unemployed people, and mentally ill people, the opportunity to garden. Few Londoners have access to a garden of their own, so having a community gardening space would be enriching & engaging for people in the local community. Making this a paid space (for example, the bar idea) would do the opposite, putting limitations on who can be there & for how long. There's aslo a particular difference between having the opportunity to harvest free fruit and veg, or spending money on alcoholic drinks. I am a professional dog trainer who spends the majority of my time in Peckham Rye. Southwark have a vast number of dogs in their borough and there should be a scheme for dog owners to undergo basic (but very good!) training with their dogs. I don't think this would be the best use of the space in Peckham Rye Park, I think a good use of this space for the area and the park would be a performance especially considering that mini-golf is an activity that is quite niche and less venue. As a local resident to the park and member of the arts community, I think it would be an amazing idea to transform the Bowling Green space into a community run open-air performance venue, similar to the one in - but without the pond.

Given the strain Covid-19 has had on the arts and entertainment sectors, this would be an invaluable addition to the local community, giving young musicians and creatives from the area the opportunity to continue pursuing their passion in a safe manner. One of the greatest things about the local areas to Peckham Rye park is the vast spectrum of creativity that comes from the young people that have grown up and been to school here. Giving them the space to be able to continue expressing themselves and experimenting with their music or performing would be a diamond amongst the rubble of 2020 - which has been wholly unforgiving to everyone, particularly young people in education and those in the arts and entertainment industries. Opening such a venue would inject a sense of excitement and passion into the local community, and offers the opportunity to exercise safe attendance of performances once lockdown rules are eased in the future.

Beyond Covid-19, a small outside performance venue within the park would be a creative hub for all generations alike, whether for a family orientated event or I feel like this would have to be an affordable bar something more niche and out-there, giving people the opportunity to experience rather than a carbon copy of the more expensive and stumble upon new things. This could be open 365 days a year ( with coin-operated turnstiles if revenue was required) with much more substantial animation at particular times of the year: it could become a Christmas grotto at Christmas, a spooky adventure at Halloween, an easter egg hunting ground at Easter, a holiday play area in the long summer holidays and so on. Entry to these activities would be by an affordable paid-for ticket with concessions for particular groups including local residents. These periods of activity could be designed to appeal to all sections of our community over time - older people, families with young children, teenagers and young adults, the people who come to walk their dogs. Rather than a licensed bar, I'd like to see a Dog Cafe, i.e. somewhere for dog walkers to get a cup of tea and dog treats. Clumber Park, a National Trust property near Worksop, has such a facility; called 'Central Bark' it's an indoor dog friendly cafe that sells light bites for dogs and their owners.
