Financial Report 2011

The financial results for the Figure 1: Income and Expenditure 2009-2011 (in €) year 2011 were highly sat- isfactory with an excess of income over expenditure (subject to minor changes after auditing) of 65,467 € compared with the budget of 1,945 €. This was the re- sult of two factors. Income exceeded budget by 32,300 € due mainly to a healthy con- tribution from conference services, which included the receipt of a late payment from the previous year, and a successful drive to col- lect member subscriptions. Expenditure was 33,267 € Figure 2: Income 2011 (in €) lower than budget mainly due to prudent expenditure on administration and some curtailment of our scientif- ic activities. Substantial work has been done in producing accounts that are more readable and to fulfil the requirement, agreed at the Exceptional Council Meeting in 2010, that EPS income and ex- penditure should be report- ed as three business units Figure 3: Expenditure 2011 (in €) (Federation, Learned Society and Publishing) in order to facilitate a comparison be- tween federal and learned society activities. The re- sults of this procedure for 2011 indicate that there is a satisfactory correspond- ence between income and expenditure in these two aspects of our work.
